redline.wolfgang Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 First, Affinity Designer is beautiful and extremely efficient tool. I like it! I am doing design and artwork for front panels / operating panels of electric devices and machines. The drawings are available in DXF and / or DWG from Autocad (trademark). What would really speed up my workflow is the option to *import* DXF or DWG files. Considering that these files can carry very complex information it would be sufficient to be able import only a single layer file or a single layer of such a file. This contains all mechanical data so I can be sure that the artwork will match the target device. Adobe Illustrator has this feature. Export of DXF / DWG files is actually not required for this kind of work. KG17, dkaiser, miyabinet and 30 others 31 2 Quote
Staff MEB Posted March 23, 2015 Staff Posted March 23, 2015 Hi redline.wolfgang, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Some users already requested support for DXF and/or DWG files. We are considering adding support for these kind of files in the future. telemax, skybeat, becreart and 12 others 14 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Michael McGinnis Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Hello, I purchased Affinity Designer for two specific purposes: one, to work with DXF files produced in ANSYS SpaceClaim, which can then be sent to all manner of cutters (laser, waterjet, CNC routers); and two, to repair DXF files needed for copyright and patent applications. My old version of illustrator did this, though poorly, which is why I do not wish to use it any longer. Unfortunately, Designer doesn't do this at all. I am posting here just to reinforce others' requests that DXF support be added to Affinity Designer. Nico7as, jorge.hernandez, Frank Jonen and 1 other 4 Quote
rtideas Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Would love to have DXF and DWG import and export. Using Onshape--very cool parametric 3D CAD cloud app. It now can import DXF and DWG. Would love to be able to export some of y logo designs to Onshape so I can model my logos in 3D and output them to my 3D printer. Ntracks, Nico7as, WORTHYimage and 1 other 4 Quote
Nico7as Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I'd like this feature too! For the early stage of my building designs, I'm used to import PDF cadastral plans, sort and convert them to DXF with Inkscape, but it's awfully slow on the Mac.... Please add this DXF/DWG Import Export! Quote
Designer123 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 As part of my workflow, I am exporting from Form Z to Illustrator, using dwg. Would like to replace Illustrator with AD but cannot until this feature is provided. Please add DWG Import Export Maxxxworld 1 Quote

kitbshive Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 One more user here who needs dxf support. Would be great to ditch illustrator! Quote

Krustysimplex Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Add me to those wanting DXF/DWG import/export. I regularly receive DXF/DWG files to use as base art for magazine/brochure artwork. Illustrator handles them fine, pity about Designer. Quote
Ian R Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Yes please me too. I would use it for almost every job I have, converting pdf to dwg/dxf Thanks in advance Quote
Evan Reese Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I just made an account to say this is a big need for me. Looking forward to making Affinity my only vector program! Ian R and Nick Allison 2 Quote
Peet Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 It`s nearly useless without DXF or other Cad generated files being able to import. Ian R and furtonb 2 Quote
furtonb Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 yup, this would be a very helpful feature to add! can someone officially say something about DXF/DWG support? is it still in the plans, when is it possible to implement, or should we expect it in the near future, etc., the last reply from MEB was a long time ago.
