Just installed affinity 2.6 beta but no machine learning in settings 

using MacBook Air OS 15.1.1

Is your MacBook Air running an Intel chip? If so then the ML learning feature has been removed... This was the compatibility notice released at the end of October...

COMPATIBILITY: Sorry but due to the functions we need to run the Object Selection and Subject Selection functionality, the Machine Learning features are only available on Apple Silicon iPads and macOS devices (and those need to be running on a recent macOS, Catalina, Big Sur and Monterey do not support the required calls). Machine Learning will run on both Windows x64 and Arm64 hardware running Windows 10 or Windows 11.

Zainstalowałem Affinity Photo v. 2.6.

W moich "Settings" nie pojawia się opcja "Machine Learning Models".

Czy to na pewno istnieje w najnowszej wersji (Zainstalowałem ją 1 grudzień 2024).

niestety potrzebujesz komputera Mac z procesorem Apple Silicone. W przypadku procesorów Intel usunięto lerning maszynowy.

As one might expect, the first thing I tried was the object selection tool. I liked the way it pursued the selection, but it needs some refinement because it is unable to fully distinguish between background and object where parts of the background are enclosed within the general outline. In other words it seems to select only homogenous objects.

Windows 11. I have 6 images and want to copy an object from each image. Opened them all and went through them using object selection and copying the object to a master image. After 4 Photo just spun its wheels and didn't complete the selection. Had to kill it in task manager. When I restarted it spun its wheels at the first one and I had to kill it again. Restarted the PC to clear everything.  Seems I have to open one image at a  time. Even then its slow. Doesn't seem to be using the GPU. With care I get what I want but the software is getting in the way.

The option to use the "CPU and GPU" does not work on Windows at the current time (it just uses the CPU) but they are working on fixing this so hopefully performance for Windows users will automatically increase once they do

Can the future stable version run the Object Selection Tool on an Intel Mac computer? It is disappointing that I can't use this essential tool on my old 2019 MacBook Pro.

Based on how the restriction was worded back when it was added, it does not seem like this will happen.  The way they worded it makes it sound like they are using APIs that Apple does not make available on Intel-based Macs.

That's good news Carl. I ran a test yesterday on a simple image & both objedt & subject selection took over 11/2 minutes with CPU usage at 100%. Hopefully they will get a fix soon!

No question, if it works properly, it's a great tool. But at the moment it takes more than 1 1/2 minute even on my PC under Win 11.
I'm looking forward to the next beta and hope that this will be fixed then.

Zainstalowałem wersję beta i ta funkcja jest dla mnie bardzo oczekiwana. Jak zauważyli inni, mam wrażenie, że przy opcji CPU i GPU nie korzysta z karty graficznej.
Bo Prosecor działa w 100% na pełnych obrotach i ma już 12 rdzeni i 24 wątki. Ale tego nie powiem, bo naprawdę czekam na wersję 2.6 z tą funkcją.

Tested this feature on a simple picture today, worked quite okay, but i hope it will get more precise on stable version

I hope Ash affinity LLM/AI features will allways be delivered in that manner: optional, on device, without cloud, included in the purchase, no abo.

Add an Cancel button. I had a situation when Photo or Photo Persona in Publisher could not detect an object and select it. In this case, programs cannot be closed. In the Windows task manager, Photo or Publisher process was constantly jumping up and down and it was impossible to select them to force them to stop working.

Just click on the "Name" column and they stop jumping up and down

There should be a way to cancel a task, not to wait for hours and nothing will happen, unless the computer burns out. And in the task manager, the process can only be canceled on the third try.

I've had this once or twice. I managed to escape out of it by pressing Alt+F4. Give it a go next time

I just tried it. In my case, ALT+F4 takes away the progress bar and the program hangs. Nothing can be done. The CPU load is 100% and other programs hang as well.

Ah, I thought that would work. For me, it removes the bar and allows me to quit the app/close the doc.

Just wait for us to fix the actual problem - the issue is with the developers so I'm hoping it won't be too long until it is addressed. Sorry for the inconvenience 😔

This time the process was more successful in selecting non contiguous patches after some coaxing. But I couldn't find a way of excluding selected patches like the alt-click in the main software. Is there one?

As soon as I can find time between my other commitments I will look at other new aspects of the beta

There are no system problems on my pc which is specifically made for graphics.

First thing I mentioned and hope will be implemented.

My understanding is that the Object Selection Tool upscales the segmentation and is then matted and also refined (if Soft Edges is enabled). Removing parts of the segmented area is not guaranteed to work the same way as creating it and you could be left with fragmented pixels.

I'll see if I can get more info on this and pass the suggestion on
