The issue "App hangs when making a large selection using Object Selection tool or Select Subject on a large image size" (REF: AF-5182) has been fixed by the developers in the latest beta build (2.6.0.2984). The fix is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Affinity Info Bot to notify us.

Problem z opóźnieniami przetwarzania już nie istnieje.
Wydajność jest po prostu znakomita.

yes, that's right, the problem has been fixed, it works great, because I tested the selection on a large panorama and it selects it in a few seconds.

Hello
I'm still having a lot of crash problems when processing images with version 2.6.0.2984.
Have you had any information about this from users?

I hadn't really played with this much but I gave it a go today and it worked great on everything I tried it with. Super smooth and intuitive.

If it's not possible to show a progress meter when selecting the tool, perhaps the standard animated Mac and Windows busy/wait cursors could be used? I was surprised by the clock face and found it a bit un-Mac. Edit: I'm playing with Select Subject now and it uses a progress meter without a time estimate. Why can't the Object Selection tool do the same?

Personally, given the execution speed of the Object Selection Tool, I don't see the point of a progress bar.
I use this tool extensively, but I never have any significant expectations.
I think the problem lies with your processor, which isn't powerful enough.
The calculation time is around 3 seconds, even on complex photos.

If there is a likelihood (as appears to be the case here) that some images may take an extended time to process with the feature or that some processors may be slow enough when using the feature to cause the rendering to take a measurable amount of time, then having a progress bar or other similar indication makes sense for the feature.

In cases like this, where it might be quick most of the time and slow in other cases, a common practice is to delay the progress bar for a short time, so that it is only displayed when the operation is taking longer than might be considered reasonable - if the threshold is 3-4 seconds then display the progress bar after a 3-4 second delay if the operation is still in progress.

Object selection seems to be pretty CPU intensive. Do we really want a progress bar, which to be accurate would need to be constantly reevaluation the time left and thus "stealing" CPU time from the job in hand?

Or should we just let Affinity use all available CPU to make that selection as fast as possible

Even with today's versions of Windows I have never found a progress bar that can reliably predict when a big job will finish

Hi!

I’m trying to use the Object Selection Tool on my M1 iPad Pro (11-inch) (3rd generation), I however can’t find the Machine Learning section in settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! 😛
