Before the announcement I thought the idea to switch between apps was a great idea, but now we see how we really can work in the same workflow instantly is much better than I could imagine. Actually a very briljant idea!

I say; Adobe eat your heart out! Next year 3 milion Affinity users.

Thanks Serif for this Studiolink idea! This is indeed a great timesaver and makes everything even more fun to work with!! I'm so glad I once made the switch to use products made by this enthousiastic and clearly passionate team with a great vision! :)

And actually this idea is actually a quite impressive business idea too. Because they could make more software on this same code-base for specialistic approaches using this same 'studiolink'. And everything uses the same core, so could be made faster, but we want to collect them all because otherwise we have these app-icons turned off in the top-left corner. And we want to have them all switched on to use :) So we will collect Affinity products by buying them all.

That would be a great business model :)

Did I hear it right? Did he say 200,000 people signed up as beta testers?

I also liked the bit near the end about why it is called Affinity, & that the iPad updates were going live ... downloading them now.

If I didn't need the other Personas in Photo, I would be doing all my work in Publisher. Even though the surprise got spoiled for me about two weeks ago because a bug, I am still super excited, since this system has kind of fulfilled a nearly decade old dream of seeing Photoshop and Illustrator work together as a single system without the need to jump between softwares. Hands down the best feature I could have asked for, and it makes up for many shortcomings that I think each software has, since this is such a massive time saver.

That said, with Publisher now having both Photo and Designer, it kind of makes the Pixel Persona kind of redundant if you own all three. Not that I am complaining though. XD

My guess would be more like these were all people just downloaded the publisher beta to see it without having to wait. But impressive still for a product that didn't even launch yet. That says a lot about their market and the position of Adobe with Indesign I'd say.

Yeah, that was nice. Also like the fact that they have 2 milion users now and still holding this keynote in their own building with a lot of people in the room working for Affinity :)

They must be really proud btw.

Next to this now Publisher is out I think and hope all three desktop-programs will be maintained together and get fixes and features together now, because all on the same base. So all three would benefit from the same changes. Like that idea! So looking forward to the upcoming releases too!

It's refreshingly clever.

Pretty impressive growth by doubling their whole userbase in about a year. I can only imagine sales increasing faster now because of the symbiosis between each program allowing for possibilities that just haven't been possible before without a bunch of extra work.

I have one major complaint about all of this: to get the benefits of Metal compute acceleration, I'm going to have to invest in a new Mac!

So just like the release of the very inexpensive iPad apps ended up costing me $400+ to get an iPad & Pencil, the 1.7 apps are going to end up costing me big time.  xD

I hope the next thing will be a single installer for all three tools. :-)

They just belong together.

Yeah, those 999 USD stands will be hard to save up for. Maybe someday you will be able to afford the screen too! :D

Btw, if they developer an Animate Persona along with functionality from After Effects to do vector animations, I would be able to completely ditch After Effects to make video prototypes of UI and more. So many possibilities, I tell you! :D

Precisely my reaction for a long time (above). We worked years on huge Flash teaching docs that a Flash expert said were the best he had ever seen ... and then came changes in Adobe's Action Script *without* auto-update, Apple's rejection of .swf, etc. Yes, Flash can now export html, but having the "affinity" approach in an Animate Persona would be astounding, especially with Affinity Designer's capabilities and now StudioLink. Bravo! Keep up your toil and dedication, all of you there. As dedicated users you have us all pulling for you.

Well, I can dream about getting a new Mac Pro when it is available, but that's as close as I will ever get to owning one, with or without that crazy-expensive stand.

Studio link is awesome... especially for me as I have been unable to save affinity photo and designer files on my regular Mac user account for the past couple of years due to ‘permissions’ issues BUT it is letting me save publisher files. So thanks to Studio link I can open up publisher and switch to designer or photo mode and save it as a publisher file!! Wooo hooo :) happy days!

Is that new or used?

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

My permissions problems were solved by limiting the number of fonts open at one time. Maybe that would work for you too.
