The brush I created creates leaves in different sizes, colors and rotations, which you can of course adjust in the properties. Note: Please keep in mind that after creating a foliage-layer, you duplicate this layer and create a shadow with it that fits into your light position.

    Hi,

no doubt - it´s an improvement.

    Questions/Feedback:

    - why those big Paper-Size-Icons? since they are all the same size and same color I do not see any advantage of having big icons.
       - add an option to resize them
       - add an option to re-arrange them
       - add an option to tag them with colors
       - add an option to select favorites

    Foto-Sizes are only in inches; in metric the common sizes are: 9x13, 10x15, 11x17, 13x18 15x20, 20x30cm
as far as I know, those metric sizes do not have names like the inch-versions do ("6R" etc..)
    please add the metric Foto-templates.

    Thanks.

The New Document dialogue is brilliant. I like having everything on display (no tabs) and the Presets will be very useful. The interface is now really good. Thanks.

NilsFinken reacted to Paul Mudditt in Cropping to a specific measurement
Someone pointed at this thread to say it was difficult to crop to an exact pixel size, I replied and suggested not using the crop tool to crop and instead simply create a rectangle with the exact dimensions in the transform studio, adjusting the layers Opacity to ease positioning and then simply clip image to the rectangle. Then rasterise and trim, unclip and clip canvas to finish off. Perhaps I’m be too simplistic?

For the non-subscription price Serif charges, the current feature set is more than generous. At some point I'm sure there will have to be a paid 2.0 upgrade to support further development; my credit card is at the ready!

Yes, but don't make facing pages, make the pages 1-12. When you make facing pages, to convert to a booklet is a lot of work. High end imposition (Preps, Impostrip) do this pretty quickly, but they are expensive, I mean really expensive. They have a way to go from readers to printer spreads...

See my picture for making Affinity Publisher work this, it's pretty straight forward.

I'll be honest though, I would rather make a PDF put it in an output folder and make an imposed PDF, I have a lot more control. But if it's a simple no bleed document or you don't mind white border,  this will do the trick.

From the menus, enable View > Show Text Flow which will display a box around each text frame, and show their linking. If any frame that is not currently selected has overflowing text the two link characters will be red dots. You can just page through your file looking for the red dots in the boxes around the text frames.

Few software companies that I have come across since 1986 work as hard as the Affinity team to resolve issues. So give them a chance to find solutions!

Last year Iafter I graduted, I worked as an IDX designer at a mobile phone company. Like most companies in China, employees worked almost 12 hours a day at this company. I did not have so much time to study or improve my skills at that period. The same year, Chinese developers launched a campaign called "996ICU" to against this huge exploitation. In the spring of 2019, I quited the job.
Now, I want to change a lillte bit of this world, and tell meyself, how many beautiful views that I can find out after quiting 996.

If you are talking about Photo, it is basic, surely ?
Select the Crop tool (or use the C shortcut) draw an area and press Return. How more basic could it be ?

If you are talking about Affinity Designer, you cannot have the same sort of crop as Photoshop Elements. Designer is page based, like MS Word, not "canvas" based like Photo or Photoshop. These programs are designed to produce complex pages at the correct size for printing (perhaps with bleed and crop marks) not single images. In MS Word, you would not expect the image crop tool to crop the whole page.
With page layout programs, like Designer, InDesign and MS Word, you create the page first, setting final page size, bleed etc and then place objects on it, basically setting it for the final print (or paper) size. Therefore the page size, not the image size is the main size setting in all page based programs.
With single image (or canvas) based programs like Photo or Photoshop Elements you resize (or crop) a single image to fit within a frame on a page (paper page or website) and Photo makes in very easy to non-destructively crop images to place on pages (print or web).
You can't compare a page orientated program like Designer or Word to an image orientated program like Photoshop or Photo. If that's what you are doing ?

Despite using Photoshop for nearly thirty years, I much prefer Photo now so stepping back to Photoshop Elements would be like touch typing with one hand.  IMHO Photo is much better than Photoshop Elements and it's not expensive compared to any version of Photoshop.

    Hi DeeT,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
I agree that it's an useful addition but like this one there was also several other useful requests or planned features that have have already been added to the program. We simply cannot add them all at once (the dev team is relatively small and are already doing their best). Sometimes even some requests that may look simple to implement at first from an user's perspective may pose a few challenges/issues to solve (not necessarily this one but still). Please bear with us while we work to improve things.

Once more panels are docked, their titles are automatically abbreviated. I am sure that, with frequent use of Publisher, they will be learnt but I suggest mouse-over "tool tips" to appear with their titles when they are abbreviated.

NilsFinken reacted to walt.farrell in Linking pages in Publisher to flow text from page to page
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @Harry D.
The suggested approach is simpler than what you did:
Prepare the Master Page(s), including a Text Frame. (There may be a trick involved here, if you use Facing Pages. So starting with non-Facing while you learn will be easier. You can convert to Facing Pages if you really need them.) Have only a single document page defined. Paste all your text into that page, or use File > Place to put it there. The text will overflow. That's OK. Notice the red link icon on the lower right side of the Text Frame. Shift-Click on it, and Publisher will create all the other pages, based on the same Master Pages as the first document page, with all the Text Frames properly linked.
