😄 It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who prefers the iPad features/operation over the desktop version. I hope our Blue Bar returns soon!

I made a post about this. The middle blue line indicator for a clipping mask is now gone. It now works like the desktop version. I hate the desktop version. Thats why I preferred the ipad app.  Its better for the blue line to show in the middle of the layer to indicate a clipping mask is being performed. Now if you want to make a clipping mask the blue line becomes a little thicker and appears below the layer and moves a little to the right. Sigh. The visual clue has changed and its annoying.

This is my one major complaint with ADV2. In V1, dragging an item into another item within the Layers panel was very clear: a blue bar appeared across the middle of the target item. In V2, hovering one item over another causes the blue bar to flicker above and below the item you are attempting to drag an item into. Is it going where I think it’s going? 🤷🏾‍♂️ The visual clue I have relied on for years is no longer available. It’s now a series of wild guesses.
I’m still waiting on that Collapse All command in the Layers that will allow more efficient searches of the organized layers and groups my files contain. Collapsing all containers at once vs scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scrollIng through the Layers in order to collapse containers manually so that I can find things easier. Hopefully you guys are still steering the car based on that Roadmap of yours!

It’s a minor thing, but I’d like to be able to create/sample a color then slide it around to put it next to other colors. Right now, colors remain in the order they were created/sampled, and there shall they stay. The only workaround is to sample and re-add the colors to the palatte and delete the previous ones. Add/delete is not quite as efficient as drag-and-drop would be for this procedure.

ThirtyFiveThousand got a reaction from MEB in Affinity vs Fresco. FIGHT!
It’s a well-documented fact that Adobe Fresco does not play well with the Affinity for iPad collection. The presence of Fresco prevents Affinity having access to the .psd filetype for import into the app(s) for editing. I reached out to Adobe support to tell them of my frustrations. Their main concern: “does Fresco prevent you from opening .psd files in Photoshop?”.
The latest (depending on when you find this) Fresco update allows Procreate to recognize/import .psd files with Fresco infesti.....loaded onto my iPad, which helps a bit. But it also suggests that there is a way on the Affinity development side to let Designer and Photo slide around the Adobe wall and into the .psd recognition light. I’m not sure if this forum section is even the right place to bring this up, but I was hoping to address the fact that Adobe is fully aware of Fresco’s file blocking ‘ability’, and is doing its best to make it go away for everybody except us Affinity users. Just wondering if the devs have any plans for code updates to combat this.

Thanks - Its related to the way the pixel layer you're painting being kept inside a Layer or Group. As I said its been reported to development now.

    Fine. More metaphorical clarification....

As it stands, Affinity Designer is the Margarita in the unsalted glass, the load of clothes from the dryer without the Febreeze, the video game boss fight to which you’ve brought the +9 Sword (to be fair, there are those of us who would take on the boss using the +2 Dagger just to make a point! *pun*). Designer stands poised to be a serious challenger to the Adobe empire, even more so with the release of the iOS version, when (if) that happens. All it would take, in my opinion, would be the fulfillment of the four year old promise that would allow us to shape text instead of having to carve closed shapes by hand. For us faithful few who pray everyday to be able to reproduce the Lucasfilm Logo without taking an extra 3 hours to do so, an ‘envelope distortion’ function would be the answer to those prayers. The ability to curve, arch, bend, or wave text, or even converted text shapes, instead of simply handing in text-on-a-curve to unimpressed clients and co-workers, would make at least one of us out here ecstatic enough to hand over cash or PayPal transactions (or iOS App Store 5-star reviews *HINT*) for granting us the ability. Until then, Affinity Designer will continue to be reviewed by everyone I’ve found on YouTube as the application that is ALMOST good enough to be the greatest.

Affinity Designer not having an envelope distortion function is like the doughnut shop that refuses to sell coffee; you are one self-imposed limitation away from making a fortune.

Scrolling through layers can be a massive pain in bigger projects. Organizing things into Layers and Groups helps, but only so much. One object heavy layer can send you back to Slot Machine Simulator territory. There needs to be a “Expand/Contract All Layers” button that allows you to take full advantage of all your careful Layer organization by letting you put all your ‘junk’ back in their respective ‘junk drawers’ so that scrolling can be kept within the limits of ones sanity.

Text on path. Shapebuilder Tool. Pattern Tools. Adobe has arrived, and is kicking a fair bit of ass with the ease of use found in these tools. When Envelope Distort arrives, Affinity's iPad dominance will be in question. You guys need to pull out that roadmap and step on that gas pedal.
