There's an incorrect translation on the new document window on Mac.
"Bleed" should to be 裁ち落とし, not にじみ.

I'm not seeing it in Publisher 2 on Windows, either. Made guides on Master A. Applied Master A to Master B, and applied Master B to Master C. All 3 show the Guides.

Yes, mine is the same. It’s a nuisance to have to keep re-docking the keyboard but at least that is a usable workaround.

ashf reacted to MoonaticDestiny in Illustrator for ipad features for AD on ipad
So I started my 30 day trial for adobe illustrator on ipad, and I wanted to share my pros about the app. Specifically pros because the features that make it pro I really want to see some of them in affinity designer v2 for ipad. Not all of them. Theres not too many pros. Just some. This is NOT a feature request post. No. Im not trying to make a list of feature requests on one post. I will make a feature request of some of these request individually when the beta forums open up. I just want to talk about these pro features here because theyre related to AD and we should be talking about them.
1.) The Context Menu Widget - Ive talked about it here in the forums. It needs to happen for affinity designer v2 on ipad. Pretty much the context menu widget is a toolbar that appears under each object/stroke when you select the move tool where you have quick action buttons on a bar like move, delete, layer order, opacity, stroke width, duplicate, lock, etc.  Its a bar that has everything you need and will help you in your building vector process. Serif was in the right step in making this move context toolbar. They were right there in making it BUT they badly messed up. They messed up by putting this move context toolbar inside the new quick menu. Its now inside the quick menu and all the quick action buttons are at the top (duplicate, cut, copy, paste style, delete). This move context toolbar is not a debate. It needs to happen because its going to help out users and it follows Fitts Law. We need to follow fitts law.
    2) The Round Corner Widget - Every time you have a sharp point in your shape in Illustrator for ipad theres a round corner widget that you can easily pull to round your corner. Its so awesome and easy. In AD, theres specifically a round corner button and you have to press that button just to make your corner. Its too many steps and there shouldn't even be a corner button. Just offer that round corner widget where theres a sharp point to make vector building easier.
    3) Smoothing - The smoothing feature is awesome in adobe illustrator for ipad. Its what the pencil tool in AD needs. You just increase the smoothing value and youre drawing THE smoothest lines. This is great for when you rough sketch something out and you just use your pencil to start vector building your illustration with smooth lines.
    4) Freeform Gradient -  A feature where you can add several color "annotators" to your object that blend color with each other.
    5) The Pathfinder Thumbnail Preview - The previewing thumbnail of the different pathfinders shapes. Its VERY helpful to see the thumbnails of the patherfinder results youre looking for.
Thats pretty much it. Yup. Its really not that pro. Nothing else stands out about illustrator for ipad. Im not really wowed. Im feeling mehhhh about it. I can honestly say it is NOT worth a subscription. Save your money. AD for ipad is beyond better. Be-yond better. AD for ipad has way more features and is ahead of the game. Illustrator for ipad is half baked. Its still baking. We really need to talk about that context menu widget though. It needs to happen in AD v2 or v3. Its really good. So good that even Apple has integrated it into their new Freeform productivity app. Now adobe, Apple, and vectornator are using this context menu widget.

ashf reacted to kenmcd in Distorted glyph problem with specific fonts.
I do not know much about CJK fonts or vertical fonts ...
The characters/glyphs inside the fonts look fine.
There are minor differences in figure heights for regular vs. half-width, but nothing like that in the image.
The 5,6, and 9 are definitely vertically distorted (not alternates, distorted).
Weird that is only those characters.
I think it is because the fonts are designed as vertical fonts, and the Affinity applications are having some issues with processing some of those vertical tables (VORG, vhea, vmtx), and some of the OpenType vertical features (vpal, etc.).
I have seen some CJK fonts which were designed as vertical-only that simply did not work in horizontal text.
But these look like they were designed for both horizontal and vertical.
    So they should work.
    Looks like a bug.

ashf reacted to kenmcd in Another Font problem on Ventura?
That font family is known both as Hiragino Sans and Hiragino Kaku Gothic.
The versions that are sold by the company are called Hiragino Kaku Gothic,
but the file names look like Hiragino Sans (Kaku Gothic) Pro N W1.otf.
It appears they also sell the fonts as a Japanese version and an en English version.
It appears that Ventura now has the same fonts called Hiragino Sans.
In looking back through the macOS font lists it looks like they first added a couple Hiragino Sans fonts (en), and then later added a number of Japanese named fonts from the same family. Some of the fonts were "UI" fonts, but those appear to be deprecated now. The current list of the Hiragino Sans fonts in Ventura appears to be the same list that I have - but my fonts are named Hiragino Kaku Gothic.
Some of the fonts directly from the maker have localized font names inside the fonts - so the font name displayed depends on the the users OS language.
So the application could display the font name in Japanese or English.
Since I do not have the Ventura fonts, I do not know if they have this feature.
So take all of the above name confusion, and add the Affinity issues with blocked Ventura fonts - and I am not surprised there are some "missing fonts" issues.
Who knows which of these old fonts were used to make the old document.

    Hey guys,
just wanted to let you know that www.qoppa.com is running a 50% discount for their PDF Studio software.
I have not tried it myself (trial is currently installing), but the release notes say something abour colour separation.

Alright, so the v2022 trial has the separation preview, unlike v2021.
    Aaand it has PDF/X-4 preflight.
    But…
Yep, it reads spot as CMYK.
    So… close but no cigar.
Back to my Automator Service plugin to run Ghostscript. (Note to self: I should finally fix the bugs, finalize it and release it…)
Let's see if spot color separation will be added as a "big new feature" for v2023…?

Hiragino Kaku Gothic is another "Document support font" - which do not appear to work in Affinity applications on macOS Ventura.
Fonts included with macOS Ventura - see Document-support fonts about half way down the page - https://support.apple.com/en-asia/HT213266

Thanks, yeah, I've seen the video.
There are no separate "pro" versions available as trial:
    qoppa.com/pdfstudio/versions
The trial has a bunch of buttons marked in red as "PRO".
Well, it's not necessarily an issue anyway. I still got my Acrobat Pro X on El Capitan.
Later I'll check out the new 2022 trial on Catalina if there's a difference.

ashf reacted to v_kyr in List of some third party vectorization & tracing tools
It has vectorization/tracing capabilities since some recent version time now, but initially it didn‘t had. Offering backwards support until El Capitan is valuable and something I personally would vote as a plus here!
Though on the other side in order for just tracing bitmap/raster images, there are other much cheaper commercial and also a bunch of quite good freeware tracing tools available.
Thus I won‘t place VS directly to the above list, since otherwise would have to add Illustrator & CorelDraw etc. too there then, since all or most of those vector graphics tools have and offer the one or other tracing facilities.
My personal most used tracer (beside my own coded tracing tool) is not VS but instead SV … 😉
