Floating keyboard with Special Character mode problem

It seems that there's no way to switch it back to the normal keyboard unless it's docked to the bottom of the screen again.

Yes, mine is the same. It’s a nuisance to have to keep re-docking the keyboard but at least that is a usable workaround.

what method are you getting the symbols keyboard to float?

@LeeThorpe I use the floating keyboard the majority of the time so my system is usually set that way when Publisher 2 is opened. So I tend to be presented with this keyboard automatically when one is required. 

 

EDIT: To clarify further, I believe the above explanation to be correct but I have not since been able to reproduce this at will. I am  new to this software and have been learning largely through trial and error. In truth I don’t know what it is I select in the software to get the symbols keyboard to appear rather than the regular one despite having done this a few times in the past. If I dock to access the main keyboard I can use the ‘c’ type symbol to show me the special character keyboard but have not been able to make it float from that position.

Technically the symbols keyboard doesn't support floating (you cannot enable floating in this mode).

So you are essentially forcing it to float by enabling it in an external app, then switching to publisher where the OS remembers floating mode was enabled with no way to switch language built in.

That said, I can see how it could be annoying if you rely on a floating keyboard so i've logged it as a bug.

How about just making not possible to switch to the special character mode when the floating keyboard is enabled?
