  1. Thank you to the Affinity team! I can confirm that, so far, I have not had any text related crashes (or any other crashes for that matter) with any files since using the 2.04 update. I’m liking this!
  2. I will admit I find this confusing. I know the iPad offers greater accuracy as, if I set the dimensions by typing in the decimal places they are accepted and then also translate correctly to my Mac (which does show the extra decimal place). So, given iPad clearly already has this capability surely it should be fairly simple to allow the extra decimal place to appear, numerically, as well as visibly to users. (As far as the rendering on screen on iPad goes the extra decimal place appears to be taken into account also and the images are visibly the same, as can be seen by laying them over the top of each other or by placing slightly differently sized objects next to each other in a test.) I can work with objects to two decimal places in Apple Pages, for example, without encountering screen problems though every now and then a particular dimension will only allow a jump of 0.02” rather than the usual 0.01” but then returns to allowing 0.01” increments. So, yes, showing the extra accuracy numerically in the software would be very useful.
  3. Hi and thank you @stokerg I believe @Dan C has already forwarded my issue for investigation. The file and details are here if you would like to take a look:
  4. Thanks @Dan C. The attached file crashes for me, under the same work flow listed in my file, when using my finger in an attempt to select the text. Having the pencil registered to my system could be the cause, I guess, but I don’t seem to need to be using it at the time for the crash to happen.
  5. As I have also had problems with linked text frames on my iPad recently (you responded on one of my threads) I thought I would check out your file as well. In case it helps anyone in solving this issue I can confirm I had exactly the same result on my iPad and attempting to edit the text frames caused an instant crash - tried several times and on no occasion would it allow me to edit the text. This appears to be exactly the same issue I've been having except that I have not been using filler text. I found no problem attempting an edit on my MAC, as is true with my own files.
  6. @Dan C Thanks for coming back to me. I do use Apple Pencil 2 but don't currently have scribble enabled and haven't had it enabled throughout this text issue. (I have tried scribble a few times in the past and recently tried enabling and disabling it again briefly to see if that could somehow make any difference regarding this issue but it didn't.) Have you been able to reproduce the issue following my steps in the attached document?
  7. That sounds plausible - I don’t remember detaching any symbols first so that is probably the reason it happened. Thank you.
  8. @DM1 Thanks for your input but altering an existing symbol would not allow me to add the new version to symbols at all. I could add new ones created from scratch or any I hadn't previously added as symbols (from other files) without issue, though - I was just trying to save a bit of time really. My workflow: 1. Add existing symbol to artboard (everything in my layers had previously been added as symbols at this point). 2. Make minor adjustments i.e. to the number/lettering inside to create new version. 3 Attempt to add the adjusted symbol as a new one using the 'Add Symbol from Selection' command. This would not work for me. @NotMyFault Point taken. My post was intended mainly as an advisory really as there was an easy workaround i.e. creating from scratch. I guess the response delay meant my files had moved on since then. The symbols were just coloured circles with a number and perhaps another character inside - very easy to reproduce. I thought my screenshots would be enough but, with hindsight, I guess a screen recording may have been more helpful.
  9. Actually I no longer have that particular file but I can tell you that the problem was me trying to edit an existing symbol and then add the new one to symbols. I was able to start from scratch and produce new ones (not a big issue in this case) but I was attempting to save time by adjusting rather than recreating - if that makes sense. It's an easy one to get around but I would have preferred to be able to use the quicker option. When I tried to add the new symbol nothing at all happened. It was as if I just hadn't told the software to do anything at all.
  10. Hi Gabe, In my case scribble was not switched on but I tried switching it on then off again to see if it made any difference but I’m afraid not. I have also tried hard-resetting my ipad, reinstalling Publisher and also testing without allowing my pencil to register again first (suggestions from another moderator) - none of which made any difference to the issue I’m having with linked text frames. Thank you for your continued efforts to solve this. Luckily my Mac is not exhibiting the same problem!
  11. @pnolle I agree with you on this and have come unstuck with ‘locked’ things not being locked at all (i.e. locked to prevent access per the dictionary definition). I have struggled to make this work and what is even more frustrating is, when I have used parameters like select ‘same’ and this has allowed selection of locked objects, I have not been able to deselect the locked objects using CTRL click (as the objects all then deselect) which would have been considerably quicker than having to select the ones I did want manually from scratch instead. I have found this frustrating and it certainly ‘feels’ like a bug to me.
  12. @Sheens I have noticed that on the iPad version too. The number displayed seems to be rounded to one decimal place yet the accuracy is obviously far greater. My workaround has been to find the dimensions that work for me then just using duplicate or copy/paste to keep the sizing consistent. The rounded/incorrect dimension shown is a nuisance though so I hope this issue is addressed.
  13. Thank you for your comment and attempting to assist. Unfortunately none of my documents have used filler text so that is not the culprit in my case, although I do reproduce the problem in the same way on a couple of the sample documents provided with the software. Luckily I am only having the issue on my iPad; I can edit linked text frames successfully on my Mac.
  14. Just to flag up there is no change relating to the above issue since the recent 2.0.3 update. The details are as described and demonstrated in previous posts. (iPad Pro 11 Gen 2, IOS 16.2, Publisher 2.0.3.1688)
