Are any of those fonts what Apple calls "Document-support fonts" that they have apparently stopped including (so they hide them).

See the Document-support fonts included with macOS Ventura here:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT213266#document

"These fonts are available only to documents that already use the font, or to apps that request the font by name. Some are older fonts that were included with earlier versions of macOS or Apple apps."

I do not know what I am looking at in your screenshots.
Are any of the fonts listed in those text styles "Document Support fonts?"

Some other posts suggest that Affinity applications may be having issues with these fonts - even if the above conditions are met.

It could be related to the fallback font problem also.

This happens only on Ventura.
Turn off サンプルを表示 from the panel option menu.

Thank you!!

If turn off "Show sample", text style panel is working

The font I use is : YuMincho

I guess the reason of this case is the font of some text style is not reflected automatically when the base settings is modified.
Because, i noticed i can change the font of the text style to YuMincho individually!!

What font did you change it from?

The YuMincho they supply only has the Medium, DemiBold, and ExtraBold weights.

So if the original fonts had different weights assigned then they would need be selected again

But if the same weights are available as before then they should not need fixing when the font family is changed.

I changed from the default font : Arial

And even if choose any other Japanese font such as Osaka (change from Arial to Osaka), no change in the situation. Still garbled.
