An idea that always comes to my mind in infographics: it helps to show the way of an arrow if it gets more contrast to the background, e.g. by adding an additional outline. In AD you can simply add another stroke to the arrow style, in AP / APub you can use a layer effect, e.g. Outline:

Those arrows look great! The text looks as though a smaller font size has been used in lieu of proper small capital glyphs in the original font size, resulting in the regular capital letters and the ampersand looking bolder than the ‘small caps’ text, but that’s only a minor quibble.

Thanks to al who helped with this. That whole style is new to me, but I was able to get something I was very happy with, which I attach, in case anyone is interested.

Hello All,
I'm a CGI artist, and fellow of the International Association of Astronomical Artists, and I've put together my first resource product!
I dislike using long exposure photos of the night sky, as they really don't look much like what your eye sees. So I decided to make a big collection of both accurate constellations based on the real night sky, and fictional ones, (I have generally made these a lot richer). High resolution, (over 6k across), mostly lossless PNG, some PSD. Some star fields are provided with multiple layers you can turn on and off for even more variety.
https://starbase1.gumroad.com/l/NightSky
The star fields are big enough for you to pan around them, or zoom in and out, even with 4k resolution video.
I've also included high resolution renders of the Moon in all phases, and two styles, (realistic and dramatic). Also views from directions other than from Earth, for spaceflight scene2. 1.5 Gigabytes in total, for a mere $3.99
There are also tutorial videos, using my favourite image software, Affinity Photo. These are intended to help people get the most out of the resources, and cover things like blending the Moon into a sunset sky, adjusting the star fields for specific purposes, adjusting star colours, and working with the multilayer files.
I attach a starfield with added Moon seen from the far side, to give you a better idea of what's in there.
I hope you like them.

Starbase1 reacted to h_d in Affinity Photo - Plugins or similar for period colour film look?
If you can snag yourself a copy of the original free Google Nik Collection (download instructions here among other places) Analog Efex Pro 2 should do all you desire. It has almost infinite combinations of retro settings. Works for me in Photo v2 running on macOS Ventura.

Starbase1 reacted to iconoclast in Affinity Photo - Plugins or similar for period colour film look?
Hi Starbase 1!
I'm not really sure if I understand what you are looking for, but if I do possibly LUTs could do the job. Affinity Photo has LUT functionality by design. There are already some LUTs in the repertoire. You can add more. You will find many on the Web (also take a look at the Ressources category here on the forums), even free ones. Or you can create your own ones.
As an alternative I could recommend the free G'MIC Plugin that has LUTs functions too, and it also has a filter called "Simulate Film", that has a huge variety of simulated photo films (additional ones can be downloaded and added for free), with a lot of adjustments to refine them. You will find the whole stuff in the category "Color" (or by using the "Search" field). By the way, G'MIC contains more than 500 additional filters in differebnt categories. Many of them are really cool.

Starbase1 reacted to Dan C in Styles / Templates for an Index, (or table of contents)
Hi @Starbase1,
I'd recommend starting with the following tutorials from the Affinity site:
Table of contents
Indexing
As well as the online helpfile pages for these functions:
Index
Index Panel
Table of Contents
Table of Contents Panel
In regards to the Text Style options, when creating an Index or Table of Contents a Text Style will automatically be generated for these. If you're already happy with how your Index or Table of Contents appears, you shouldn't need to adjust these. If you'd like to update all of the text using this Style, you can edit the Text Style and this will then automatically apply to your Index or ToC, respectively.
You can find out more regarding Text Styles here:
Text Styles
I hope this helps

Anything like this?

Starbase1 reacted to David in Яuislip in Automatic processing of matching image sequences
Well, this does my understanding of your requirement:
Change the numbering from A-001 to A-0100, and B-001 to B-0100
to 001A to 100A, 001B to 100B
Create a File\New Stack
Load the files - 1st column in the image below
Select all the layers in the group and do Arrange\Move Outside - 2nd column in the image below
Delete the Live Stack Group at the bottom
Select the top layer and run the attached macro until you get to the bottom of the stack - 3rd column in the image below
Use the Export Persona to get the layers out as files
abScreenMerge.afmacro

Brilliant.
Beats my idea of convincing several tiny relatives to sit there and do the work because it is a (FUN) learning experience. Myself, I am running out of tiny relatives, waiting on the newly older ones to start making some new tiny people.

Sorry, it took me a while to get the time to come back to this.
Wow! So easy I got it right first time, thank you so much!
In case it's of interest, I was working on an old map of Mars by Antoniadi, where on side of his map was distinctly darker than the other. I wanted to wrap it around a sphere to make a CGI Mars globe.
I attach the result, showing the seam - it's still visible, but that's mainly because his map edges did not match up quite properly.

Starbase1 got a reaction from Jowday in Keeping last font used as the default
Hi All,
I have a lot of fonts installed. One thing that's driving me nuts is the way that Affinity Photo doesn't remember the last font I used, but goes back to the top of the list starting with "A" when I go to enter another chunk of text.
Is there a way to make the last used font the default for next time please?
Thanks,
Nick
