Dear G.M., I think your chance of getting proper answers is inversely proportional to your impatience level. I'm sure you are not the only one that has problems. Please take a moment to check out the other threads and see how most questions and answers are written.

Really sorry that you are having problems, this is not a common experience and we would like to help you but this 1.6 announcement thread is not a good place to offer you support to solve this. Please post in the Bugs on Mac forum or Questions forum for us to offer you tech support and find out that is wrong.

Only a couple of fixes are listed in the announcement thread here, but beta version 1.6.3.102 is already available and build 103 is expected to follow very soon.

Any news regarding a patch for Designer and Photo for OSX? (High Sierra 10.13.3)
I downloaded the latest versions, which are STILL 1.5.5 and 1.5.2 respectively, and they DO NOT open anything done with the trial versions (who are, supposedly, more advanced than the commercial ones... go figure... ¬¬).
I've been told that this week some kind of "patch" that should fix that bug, would be released, any news on that? None at all?

Hi arcureo,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

The latest retail versions of Affinity Designer and Photo are respectively 1.6.0 and 1.6.6 and they should open the files created with the trial version without issues.

Please update Designer and Photo running the Mac App Store app, going to the Updates tab (on top) and clicking the Update button in front of the app's name from the list below. If no update appears there try to sign-out then sign in again in the Mac App Store (make sure you are using the same Apple ID used to buy the apps). Let us know if you still have issues.

Hi, thanks for the assistance... the only problem, here, is that I've downloaded both programs directly from the Affinity website, not from the Mac App Store. (Company policy, I guess... I wasn't the one actually doing the transaction). So it seems like I'm not entitled to any update, from the App Store itself. If I search for Designer of Photo, in the store, I see both programs as available purchases, instead of something already installed on my Mac and eventually updatable, so to speak. (I hope I've made myself clear... I understand it's a bit of a tricky situation, here... :7_sweat_smile:)
Any suggestions?

Yep, thanks for the reply, in the meantime I got an email from the Affinity website telling me that within the week there should be a patch for this particular issue.

Be very careful installing these updates! Both AD and AP crash when clicking any menu item. Uninstalling and then reinstalling results in a message newer version is already installed and new install terminates. Basically I am without AD and AP now. I am running Windows 10.

Do you have a HUION tablet?

 

You can re-install an older version if you're having problems.

Is it normal that Photo or Designer 1.6.2.97 don't display at startup that version 1.6.3.103 is available?

After cleaning registry of Affinity entries and removing related Affinity dll's attempted installing the 1.6.3 version and received the message below. Please advice.

 

After cleaning computer re-install 1.6.3 gave this message.png

Now I really am confused (getting more easily done) because both my AP & AD show versions 1.6.1.93 installed, not seen an app notification, or email notifications that new versions were available.

Confusion was caused by Affinity Store & Micro$oft Store having different version numbers ...... seems that I will (eventually) get the new versions and all the updated 'goodies' they contain :).

Thank you, I think that the help part of Affinity should include the note version here:
(A lot of software include this information.)
