  1. Unfortunately I cant screenshare the issue but basically, simple shapes such as rectangles do work but if you want to achieve the same thing with a group, say a rectangle with text inside it, then ctrl+j works for the first copy (after the intial copy and move) but then after that it stops working and just paste's itself ontop of the latest object. Say I have such an object at position x and want to ctlr j to y, then when I do ctrl j again it do move the third object to the correct next place but the fourth object sticks to the last location, namely on top of the third object. Since it does work once, I assume it "should" work all the time?
  2. Btw, if it is an "intended feature"... how do you do the regular "CTRL+J" with symbols?
  3. I'm not sure if this is intended or indeed a bug, it is annoying though. With objects such as rectangles I can make lots of copies by just doing CTRL+J (adjust) and then CTRL+J (Repeat) and it will auto adjust. but with symbols, I can do CTRL+J move and adjust and do CTRL+J but it only adjusts once, when I've gotten the third copy it just copies onto itself without doing more adjustments. I'm using Windows 10 and Affinity Designer Version: 1.10.5.1342
  4. There's lots of custom brush tutorials out there and I thought I had understood how custom brushes works, you basically create a png texture as a foundation right? But, I want my brushes to work with the vector tools and I've noticed that my brushes changes dramatically depending on "how" I want the brush applied. (There's 3 modes, Outside (Default), Inside (Which I want) and Center). While playing around with my custom brushes I noticed that if I choose the "outside" mode, the bottom half of my brush texture seem to be used? and when I choose inside, the top half and when I choose center, some strange mix between the two.... Is there a template, tutorial or documentation somewhere that I've missed that can help me understand how the brush textures work with vector paths? I'm specifically trying to make textured intensity brushes although I'd expect the whole texture to be applied wherever I want it so... this kinda screwed me over.
  5. If you add an effect to a vector path with only a stroke and no fill to another such path, the effect is not applied. I found this when I tried to make a vector brush and wanted to add a gradient to my path vector, after doing this I realized I wanted the exact same gradient to another path however, I was unable to paste the FX style or rather.. It wasn't applied (no errors or anything, just no result). So I ended up having to undo the gradient, select all paths that I wanted the effect applied to and then make the effect on all of them simultaneously. This isn't a huge bug but I can see how it would be annoying if there's many vector objects that you'd want to apply the same effect to. If you add a fill to the path, the pasteFX seems to work but the gradient isn't applied to the Stroke but rather the Fill.
  6. Found a solution. I'm definetly not a "pro" user of affinity designer so it would probably be obvious to most but the solution was: There's a "fill" tool in affinity designer which I thought was the typical fill with solid color tool. Turns out that you can fill with gradients, bitmaps, solid colors etc. When I was searching for a solution for this, all the suggestions I found was "Go to layer -> new fill layer". The problem is that, that solution is for Affinity Photo, not Affinity Designer, Affinity Designer doesn't seem to have that option there at all which caused a confusion. So then you might ask, why just not edit it in photo? Well, I do have Affinity photo but I don't want to install a whole program for one small thing like that and I bet there's those who don't have Affinity Photo. Anyway, by using the fill tool on a shape, I could specify the effects and patterns etc that I wanted and then choose "Right Click -> Create new style".
  7. Hello, I'd want to add fairly basic patterns to some of my shapes, such as repetitive circles and other shapes that I'd want to be apart of kinda a material/style which I could apply to my vector objects. I could do these patterns manually and add them into the shapes by hand, but I find it somewhat tedious since it's so repetitive. I also know that there's color noise available but there's no option to make custom noise filters for it? Because that could somewhat help with "some" of my "dreams".
  8. Well, true, still a lot better than nothing and perhaps easier to develop and maintain than a full port if that's the issue.
  9. Yeah, I think it's seriously overdue for a Linux version. I mean, I totally get it that it might take some time to convert the binaries but Windows for me is no longer an option nor is Mac OS since their devices had gotten quite honestly bad, and pricey in my opinion. Linux (distros, Redhat & Open Suse) the last long term option I have, it's stable, easy to use, free to use, bloat free and most importantly they respect my privacy which Windows definitely does not. Nor do they automatically install junk games and trial softwares (yeah yeah, you can get rid of it but it's a F&$+ pain for a freaking paid OS!!!). Down to the point. A port to Linux might be to much to ask? If so, an official version that works well on wine or proton shouldn't be to much to ask for. As it is now, I've found it to be possible to get affinity designer in particular to work on wine, at least somewhat but hell, real pain. I've not tried the photo or publisher version. The only competitor to affinity on Linux would be Inkscape, and I Love that software but man... They need to work on those layers and snapping. So there's quite frankly not really any competitors directly at affinity's products atm, except for Gimp and Krita. Akira might even be made entirely from scratch before Affinity comes to Linux XD, which might be a better thing since it's open source but c'mon. Linux has pretty much everything except truly amazing art tools and music creation. Affinity could save one of those.
  10. Finally =D, have been quite anxious for this one haha thx.
  11. Hello, I have a surface pro device and I use it primarily for work and art. The issue I have with affinity designer/photo with the surface is that it's pretty much impossible to draw while having the cover attached. So by beeing able to add custom actions to the pen itself, I would perhaps be able to use it quite a bit more efficiently. I would be able to re-bind the single button on the pen to adjust the size of the pen pretty much exactly like you would in photoshop. Or even better, beeing able to press that single button and hover (Not pressing) would bring up a customizable toolbox/settings adjustment tools that could be selected.
  12. I would really really like an API for Affinity Designer and Photo. I have lots of plugins I would like to create or get if available. An addition if an API would be present would hopefully be a plugin gallery/mall where you can "easier" find plugins, extensions etc for the softwares. ATM I haven't found a place where it's "easy" to find more assets etc so quite a bit of time is used to create pretty much everything from scratch which is useless if there would be a way for the community to easly share content to each other. Personally I would be willing to pay if there where a marketplace although open source is important in my opinion
  13. Hello, I use Affinity Designer primarily for software design IE mobile/desktop apps, websites etc. I like how fast and easy it is to draft layouts and individual elements in Affinity Designer but it would be very handy to be able to attach notes to individual objects. Why? Well, if I make an element for an app I might want to keep record of the dimentions, colors etc so by beeing able to take notes and just read them real quick would be a bit time saving instead of navigating through palettes, size settings etc to get the "relevant" information, not to mention quite easy to miss a detail. This suggestion is just about adding custom notes for various reasons, give yourself a reminder etc but I see quite a bit potential. For example, in the future it could perhaps be extended to allow to export each object to a stylesheet like template with the notes under each object. The notes would obviously not be visible unless you want them to, otherwise they might interfere with the designs. NOTE: Objects/Elements is just a layer/group but Objects/Elements seems more appropriate in this context.
