  1. I would really recommend anyone still on Windows 7 to upgrade to Windows 10 if at all possible.
  2. 4178 vs 4164 and 4715 vs 4702 are not statistically different enough, so they're effectively showing no change (i.e. changing your renderer made no difference).
  3. Click here to download the latest beta Status: Customer Beta Purpose: Features, Improvements, Fixes Requirements: A valid product key (for Affinity Store purchases), or an installation of the full retail version from the Microsoft Store As this is a beta it is considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity that may be adversely affected by the application failing, including the total loss of any documents. We hope you enjoy the latest build, and as always, if you've got any problems, please don't hesitate to post a new thread in this forum and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. Thanks once again for your continued feedback. If you have a general question about the software, please head over to the Questions Forum, or if you have any suggestions, please head over to the Feature Requests forum. New Feature: Product registration and store content streaming We have now added the ability to link your Affinity app to your Affinity account through a new app registration process. This will have the advantages of you being able to stream any content you have purchased or received for free from the Affinity store directly to all your apps without having to manually install them. This is of particular use to customers who have more than one of our apps, or run our apps on different devices and operating systems as all your content will automatically be available across all of them. If you register the beta app you will initially receive a free brush kit (the luminance brush kit) for testing purposes. This might be a kit you already have, but if you don’t you will get it for free. In a couple of weeks this will be expanded to include all of the store content you may already own. While this is the full scope of what we are implementing for 1.9, the link between your account and your apps will open up the possibility for us to offer other features and services in the future which we think you will like. Known Issue: Users with certain locales are being presented with an Internal Server Error when trying to register their applications. We are aiming to resolve this issue (server-side, no application update required) tomorrow morning. I will update this post when the issue has been resolved. Changes Added Affinity Registration and Content Sync [Installer] Fixed crash when the current monitor profile is set to a virtual profile Fixed Curves panel Y values being reversed Fixed Curves panel not updating when tabbing through the X and Y boxes Fixed Curves panel difficultly dragging nodes Fixed Keyboard Shortcut Preferences for Undo/Redo showing the name of the last action Fixed Keyboard Shortcut Preferences not showing Ctrl+Shift+1 to 9 as being used Fixed Studio Presets not being reset when holding down Ctrl at start Added Image Placement Policy option Added Resource Manager to menus Added Show/Hide Text Overflow toggle 1.9.0.791 release notes

  5. You're not using the same drivers though unfortunately, so it's not a straight "OpenCL vs Metal" comparison here (i.e. swapping to Vulkan wouldn't be a guaranteed performance boost).
  6. Thanks @Fritz_H. Unfortunately in this case it really is a "general" improvement to the underlying architecture. Things are "different" now, hopefully in a good way. But play around with brushes, filters etc, see how they compare to before.
  7. Just for reference, the Renderer doesn't have any impact on the Hardware Acceleration. The Renderer is just the device that we use for presenting the final document to the screen.
  8. On a HD Graphics 4600, it's probably not much faster than CPU. Later integrated chips should have a decent improvement (see https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/124022-benchmark-1900-results/ for some benchmark results). Bear in mind, that's for Photo, which uses the GPU in a slightly different way to Designer.
  9. First time I've seen that message. Seems like you can get that when your driver is in a bad way. I had a quick internet search and this was the top result: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/application-blocked-accessing-graphics-hardware
  10. It doesn't require Direct3D 12, just OpenCL for hardware acceleration.

  13. Added ability to rotate view around mouse with Alt+MouseWheel. Shift+Alt+MouseWheel will rotate around the centre. Holding Ctrl at the same time will increase rotation speed. Added Ctrl+Shift+Alt+R as new default shortcut for resetting the view rotation. Shift is already allocated in this shortcut.
  14. This is true. I've improved the logging to make sure lines are flushed to disk after writing for the hardware acceleration logging now (this will be available in the next beta).
  15. The benchmark is showing a 4X speed improvement using your GPU, so in theory, it should be faster for you to leave it enabled. But, we need to get solve the issues you're reporting for it to be worthwhile for you. For now the option is remaining off by default (until we're confident all of the reported issues have been solved).
  16. Can you try the following for me (with the latest beta). Set the following environment variable: PersonaIsOpenCLLoggingEnabled to the value 1. Then can you reproduce the hang, wait a minute, kill the app and then attach the %APPDATA%\Affinity\Photo\1.0 (Beta)\Log.txt file here please?
  17. Maybe. Currently they can be manually copied from the relevant folders under %APPDATA%, but we may add a more user friendly version at some point.
  18. And the results with an additional NVIDIA RTX 2080 Super (eGPU):
  19. Just to clarify - the rotation is the canvas rotation, you aren't rotating the document.
