Interesting discussion this, especially about whether their business model is sustainable.
It appears to be perfectly sustainable to me without any need to even consider subscription or charging for updates between major versions. The market out there for this price level of product is vast, (potentially bigger than for Adobe simply because it is lower cost).
I doubt they are running out of potential customers, or anywhere close. And each time they add more features or make the apps more powerful, that opens up another raft of potential customers.
Just look at how often new forum members appear, and remember, like with other apps, the large majority of users will never register for the forum.
Going by Serif's last submitted accounts, they are a very healthy, bouncy little company!
And so they should be.  They have a good, solid history behind them.
I and my piggy bank are definitely looking forward to V2 without complaint.

Also, for those who are interested in using a Shape Builder Tool, today I've found this free web App which includes it.
The App is not that intuitive and the Shape Builder Tool has its own way of working, but it might be useful for some.

Here is the YouTube channel to see some tutorials.
    Best regards!

God listen to yourself!!! DONT BUY IT!!! Go back to Adobe but stop threatening Serif with your nonsense. As far as I am concerned Serif does not need "customers" like you!!! Like Children Are we there yet????/ STOP!!!! You are not helping the process. This is how Serif operates and if you don't like it Lump it!!!! No one ever praises them for some damn good software but crying because they have not had a BETA for a while....

    Serif does both of those.
However, they do not tell us about future plans, as that has caused issues in the past.

While I can see that some new users may prefer what they are used to in other apps, it hardly seems reasonable to me that existing users should be expected to keep relearning various aspects of the Affinity apps to save new users the effort of learning to use a new app!

I don't have a problem with using an "eye" instead of a tick-box, they would function in the same way, but why on earth move it to the other side of the layer panel!
One thing that particularly gets on my nerves is the way some new users (not the OP) want things changed because of their "muscle memory". What about the "muscle memory" of existing users!

Assuming that someone is completely redesigning the application and its interface because of them is even funny.
Despite the fact that using the eye symbol to control the application of adjustment layers, masks, etc. is really completely meaningless.

    Hi All,
Unfortunately, we are hearing many stories from the creative community about how they are being severely impacted by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. We know we can’t solve a lot of these problems, but we do want to try to offer as much support as possible.
That’s why we’re announcing three measures that we've just put in place. They are:
A new 90-day free trial of the Mac and Windows versions of the whole Affinity suite A 50% discount for those who would rather buy and keep the apps on Mac, Windows and iPad A pledge to engage more than 100 freelance creatives for work, spending the equivalent of our annual commissioning budget in the next three months (more details of this will be announced next week). The introduction of the 90-day free trial and deeply discounted pricing is done in the hope that this will make life a little easier for people who rely on creative software to make a living, but may be stuck at home without their usual tools, or for students who might not have access to their Affinity apps on their personal devices. In addition, by increasing our spend on commissioning work from freelancers we can also put some extra money into a part of the industry which will be particularly affected.
We plan to make the free trial and additional discount available until 20 April, but of course we will continue to review the situation as time goes on.
We have put posts on Facebook and Twitter about what we are doing if it's something you would like to share.
We're now all working from home
In terms of the team here, we have all vacated our Nottingham offices and are now working from home. Naturally this is causing us some disruption, but we continue to type code and expect to carry on making good progress with our development efforts.
Support is a bit trickier though. Firstly, we can’t accept inbound telephone calls right now, and there are also going to be challenges for our staff to work their normal full-time hours – especially with imminent school closures in the UK. We’re obviously going to do our very best but hope you will understand if we are not as fast to respond to email as usual.
Of course, if a question you have is something which could be answered by our community, then we’d also greatly appreciate if you put that here on the forum rather than contact us directly. It would definitely help us out a lot.
Frankly it’s hard to know what to say or do in this unprecedented situation. But more than anything else, we want to use this opportunity to wish good health to you and your loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
    All the very best,
    Ash

Do what they call a "Control runup" which is holding down the control key while you start the program. It will bring up a menu that lets you clear some data including possibly some of your customization. Try with the first thee checked and see if that fixes it.

Some of what I read here remind me somehow that client I just had.
Since I moved completely to Affinity I am mostly using PDFs now. Client called me and said
    - I need it in AI format
    - But you can import PDF perfectly well to illustrator..
    - No, I need it in AI format, I have a pipeline I use for years now! Please deliver AI!
So I just renamed PDF extension to AI and resent the same file (yup, it does work).
    - You see what I mean? - client replied - now it works perfectly! You dont change proven, professional pipeline for no good reason!

Yeah man, I can see that alright... Slightest change of what people used to and drama starts. Something isnt named the same, shortcut is different, format - whatever. People start to freak out, totally unable to change even trivial things. And if some option they used to is not there? Uffff Forget it - looking for workaround is completely out of question. Even if sometimes - many times - it is a non-issue and you can keep on working happily after showing tiny bit of flexibility.
    Most common thing:
"In Adobe it is certain way and here it is different!"
    Yeah, so?
There is more than one way skin a cat. Affinity is not a Photoshop. It can replace it but its not a Photoshop or Illustrator reskinned with different name and priced differently. It has its own strengths. I wouldn't bloody use it if it was simply cheaper but I could not work professionally on it. Thats what I do for living, I cant afford not being able to do the job.
But I am and I am loving the Affinity way. Yeah you heard me - and I was using Photoshop professionally since version 4. Thats 23 years already. OK, minus last 3 because I have switched to Affinity immediately when it became available on Windows.
"ow, so you are Affinity fanboy then!"
I guess I am. I am loving it. Thats why I am here on Affinity forum. Meeting some Adobe fanboys.

Listen sweetheart, your new girlfriend is not your ex, ok? It will never be the same. I know you miss Jenny. Maybe you should go back to her? Yeah, she was with you just for your money, but if you are happy with that... Maybe you should never try to have a new girlfriend? Because telling Lucy constantly about how good you had it with Jenny will not make things any better...
