    You'll have to wait sir.
Can't have folks in Australia and other Eastern parts taunting the folks in the West.

For those who need to hear this: It's perfectly fine to be excited about an incoming feature update. You're not a corporate shill for liking a piece of software...

Arba reacted to fde101 in Affinity won't be a professional software until it can process R3D, Arriraw, and Braw stills.
This has nothing to do with 3D.  The formats that were listed are proprietary lossy-compressed RAW digital cinema (video) file formats (except BRAW which is technically not a true RAW format, but likes to pretend to be one by providing a useful subset of its advantages).  Some of the cameras which use these formats can capture pseudo-stills in these formats by recording them essentially as single-frame clips.
While the formats are proprietary, at least R3D (RED Digital Cinema) and BRAW (Blackmagic Design) have SDKs available for 3rd parties to support reading the formats in other software.  Not sure about Arri RAW, and personally don't really care.
While it would be perfectly reasonable for Serif to support using the available SDKs to open single-frame clips from these cameras, the notion that photo software is somehow less "professional" because it doesn't support reading these highly specialized digital cinema formats is so preposterous it is laughable.

Interesting discussion this, especially about whether their business model is sustainable.
It appears to be perfectly sustainable to me without any need to even consider subscription or charging for updates between major versions. The market out there for this price level of product is vast, (potentially bigger than for Adobe simply because it is lower cost).
I doubt they are running out of potential customers, or anywhere close. And each time they add more features or make the apps more powerful, that opens up another raft of potential customers.
Just look at how often new forum members appear, and remember, like with other apps, the large majority of users will never register for the forum.
Going by Serif's last submitted accounts, they are a very healthy, bouncy little company!
And so they should be.  They have a good, solid history behind them.
I and my piggy bank are definitely looking forward to V2 without complaint.

Also, for those who are interested in using a Shape Builder Tool, today I've found this free web App which includes it.
The App is not that intuitive and the Shape Builder Tool has its own way of working, but it might be useful for some.

Here is the YouTube channel to see some tutorials.
    Best regards!

Wouldn't you know it! –  As soon as someone from Serif says, "We are not commenting on specific features", people start asking Serif to comment on specific features! 😁

God listen to yourself!!! DONT BUY IT!!! Go back to Adobe but stop threatening Serif with your nonsense. As far as I am concerned Serif does not need "customers" like you!!! Like Children Are we there yet????/ STOP!!!! You are not helping the process. This is how Serif operates and if you don't like it Lump it!!!! No one ever praises them for some damn good software but crying because they have not had a BETA for a while....

While I can see that some new users may prefer what they are used to in other apps, it hardly seems reasonable to me that existing users should be expected to keep relearning various aspects of the Affinity apps to save new users the effort of learning to use a new app!

I don't have a problem with using an "eye" instead of a tick-box, they would function in the same way, but why on earth move it to the other side of the layer panel!
One thing that particularly gets on my nerves is the way some new users (not the OP) want things changed because of their "muscle memory". What about the "muscle memory" of existing users!

Assuming that someone is completely redesigning the application and its interface because of them is even funny.
Despite the fact that using the eye symbol to control the application of adjustment layers, masks, etc. is really completely meaningless.

    Status: Customer Beta
    Purpose: New features, performance, fixes
Requirements: A valid product key (for Affinity Store purchases), or an installation of the full retail version from the Microsoft Store

As this is a beta it is considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity that may be adversely affected by the application failing, including the total loss of any documents. We hope you enjoy the latest build, and as always, if you've got any problems, please don't hesitate to post a new thread in this forum and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. Thanks once again for your continued feedback.

    Hi All,
Unfortunately, we are hearing many stories from the creative community about how they are being severely impacted by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. We know we can’t solve a lot of these problems, but we do want to try to offer as much support as possible.
That’s why we’re announcing three measures that we've just put in place. They are:
A new 90-day free trial of the Mac and Windows versions of the whole Affinity suite A 50% discount for those who would rather buy and keep the apps on Mac, Windows and iPad A pledge to engage more than 100 freelance creatives for work, spending the equivalent of our annual commissioning budget in the next three months (more details of this will be announced next week). The introduction of the 90-day free trial and deeply discounted pricing is done in the hope that this will make life a little easier for people who rely on creative software to make a living, but may be stuck at home without their usual tools, or for students who might not have access to their Affinity apps on their personal devices. In addition, by increasing our spend on commissioning work from freelancers we can also put some extra money into a part of the industry which will be particularly affected.
We plan to make the free trial and additional discount available until 20 April, but of course we will continue to review the situation as time goes on.
We have put posts on Facebook and Twitter about what we are doing if it's something you would like to share.
We're now all working from home
In terms of the team here, we have all vacated our Nottingham offices and are now working from home. Naturally this is causing us some disruption, but we continue to type code and expect to carry on making good progress with our development efforts.
Support is a bit trickier though. Firstly, we can’t accept inbound telephone calls right now, and there are also going to be challenges for our staff to work their normal full-time hours – especially with imminent school closures in the UK. We’re obviously going to do our very best but hope you will understand if we are not as fast to respond to email as usual.
Of course, if a question you have is something which could be answered by our community, then we’d also greatly appreciate if you put that here on the forum rather than contact us directly. It would definitely help us out a lot.
Frankly it’s hard to know what to say or do in this unprecedented situation. But more than anything else, we want to use this opportunity to wish good health to you and your loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
    All the very best,
    Ash

Do what they call a "Control runup" which is holding down the control key while you start the program. It will bring up a menu that lets you clear some data including possibly some of your customization. Try with the first thee checked and see if that fixes it.
