    Now that summer is truly over I've just started some drawing again. This is for a portrait, a bit more than head and shoulders shot. It will be my first attempt, and possibly last (it's going very slowly), at a realistic one or pretty much any person come to that. I've bits to do around the edge to blend in but will do that when the skin is done.
    I guess it will show up here pretty much full screen, it obviously won't be that large when on the face, so zoom out or stand back.  I've included the AD file just in case you're interested.

    Yes. As @v_kyr stated, use the modifier keys.
    • Move the end node
    • hold down Shift (or other modifier) to move the interior nodes in proportion back to their original spots. One click moves all in the case of Shift.
    • Add new node if needed.

    If you spend a little time browsing through the feature request forum, several things should become fairly obvious.  Among them:
    There have been many different feature requests. Even among those that are functionally similar, there are quite a few different ideas about how they should be implemented. Some would be applicable to only a few workflows & would interfere with many others. Some would require changes to the native file format, creating compatibility issues with earlier app versions. Some would require extensive changes to the core executable code, requiring extensive testing to debug. Some would require reworking hundreds of resources (icons, tooltips, descriptive texts), including whatever must be done to accommodate all the supported languages/localizations. Some could not be implemented at all due to limitations or restrictions built into one or more of the three supported operating systems. To the extent possible, every added feature should either be available in or at least not cause issues with any of the three apps running on any of the three supported operating systems, & for each of the different store app versions. I could keep going but the point is it is not reasonable to expect some feature to be added just because some users, even a lot of them, request it, or to be added as quickly as they would like.

    Hi Pyanepsion
    Unfortunately you can't convert a Pen curve to a selection in Affinity Designer (as this is a Photo only feature) however you can create your curve with the pen tool, then fill this curve with any colour. Now select your curve in the layers studio and drag and drop it over the thumbnail of your pixel layer. This will clip and mask the image layer to the shape of the curve, effectively cutting the object out from the image.

    Found a solution! Check this out! 
    Give a group that is inside a group a "Erase" blend mode. That group will become the mask layer. You can now change the group items without having to release the 'mask'.

    For anyone running into the same problem, I think I found a workaround.
    Incidentally, this once again seems to relate to "resolution" — which coming from other vector apps should not really be a factor in an app like this.
    But to avoid the problem, here's what I did:
    1. Set "scale with object" to all strokes (luckily, can be done by selecting all and checking that checkbox)
    2. In the transform box, type 1000% for size
    3. Convert the oversized version by selecting "expand stroke"
    4. In the transform box, type 10% for size
    It is now correctly converted.

    Welcome to the forums.
    I think what you need is some kind of Knife Tool which Designer doesn’t have at the moment.
    It’s been requested and discussed many times (since at least 2014) in the forums but – as far as I know – there’s been no mention of any definite implementation plans: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/468-ade-knife-tool/
    There are a few work-arounds but the one mentioned by MEB (second page in the linked thread, using the Geometry Divide function) seems the most reasonable one to me.

    From the pantone website:
    What is the difference between coated (C) and uncoated (U)? 
    PMS colors marked with a C mean that the color is printed on coated paper for a glossy finish, as you would see in a magazine. This is desirable for sharp and complex designs, as the ink stays on top of the paper, preventing bleeding. Likewise, a U indicates uncoated paper, which has a more porous finish, common on letterhead. Uncoated paper is generally more absorbent of ink than coated, reducing sharpness.

    It doesn't matter if this is really being printed with a spot color as long as you communicate with the print service.
    The color values are really for on-screen representation. However, Serif uses cmyk and/or rgb values for the swatches. They should use lab as it provides the best translation should a client want to changes to using process colors and or the print conditions (i.e. a profile change) happens.
    Your values in Serif applications are different for various reasons. One likely is the cmyk conditions, AI using lab but for this purpose (their screen shot) they changed to cmyk, they use a different document color profile, etc., etc.

    As others have pointed out, U stands for uncoated, and C stands for coated. In point of fact, PMS 806 is a defined, unchanging ink formula. The appearance of the ink color will shift slightly depending upon whether it is applied to a coated sheet of paper or an uncoated sheet of paper. In the electronic swatch books included in applications like Designer and Illustrator, the only difference between 806 U and 806 C is in the way that the appearance of 806 is simulated on screen as it would appear on either a coated or uncoated sheet. It's for onscreen simulation. 
    What's important for you to grasp is that any object to which you apply PMS 806 (U or C) will separate onto it's own plate (an 806 plate, separate from the traditional CMYK printing plates), and the print vendor will recognize the vector shape to which you've applied 806 as the intended die-cut shape, not part of the printed art.

    Hi Roger C,
    The assets are all there but they are hard to see in the Assets panel because they are composed by dark thin lines and are barely visible against the dark background. If you click the menu icon in the top right of the panel and select/tick Show As List you should be able to see their names at least.
