DarkClown got a reaction from Chris B in Remember asset category
    Thanks for your answer, Chris.

Don't you think in case you have a primary category which you use predominantly in a majority of projects this category would most likely also be the one you used last? The way AP V2 currently works it is ensured that the default category 100% will be the one you don't need.
Of course saving settings with the picture could be a start - but in case you mostly work with new pictures (e.g. you get a watermark from you assets) you again will have a 100% wrong selection as long as new files come up with default settings.
I still perceive the "last selected" as a program wide saved preset as the best solution. But even if you could set a default category in the program settings this could be helpful.

    Cheers, Timo

Yes, I'm well aware that you're supposed to stick to one topic threat once it has been brought up. On the other hand ... The 7 year old problem still persists in the highly praised V2. New version - new topic.

How ignorant can one be. As I continuosly keep saying: Serif gives a shit on most important workflow and essential usabillity. They have no focus on people seriously working with their products on a professional base. If I'd just be an occasional user I'd probably not care about such a topic. And of course users needs are different. Even professionally working on a single project for weeks this kind of workflow would not matter. But as a photographer who's dealing with hundrets of files daily for different customers efficiency in workflow for me is significant time (money). I brought this problem also up for the export dialog that still is a nightmare if you need to export multiple files in a row. I wish I'd see even the slightes movement on serif side ...

DarkClown got a reaction from only7yb in Publisher Search and Replace
I wonder if there is a way to limit the "replace" function on the selected text? I only manage to get a search function over the complete text resulting in "replace all" will also effect the complete text. So I have to replace every single  occurrence of the search text in a 200 pages text by manually clicking on "replace" since otherwise the complete search results would be replaced. I guess I'm just missing out the right way to set the search up properly to select an affected search area. Any Ideas what could be done? ( I thought there might be a chance to limit the search on "Sections" but I did not find a way for that either.)

    Thx for your help

    Cheers, Timo

Thank you for your valuable input ... as before I was already further down the road. I think by now (di a bit of reading in between) I've got a pretty good understanding of the available options and the functionality of each of them. But since you do not seem to get my point I guess I was unclear or unprecise. My apologies for that. Here again my point in a more visual way:
Red arroww settings are identical / green arrow settings are identical (or maybe not - that was my question) Why would you have identical sliders in the same dialog?
Just take your time to understand what I am referring to.

DarkClown got a reaction from Pšenda in WEBP Export questions
Of course I did. And there is nothing incomprehensible  - it's just wrong from my perspective. A lossless format is NEVER about image quality! (That's why it's called "lossless"). What you write is correct for lossy formats.
  16. Thanks
DarkClown reacted to v_kyr in WEBP Export questions
The WebP file format either way (lossy or lossless) uses compression technics, thus the compression degree can be adjusted.
Compression (lossy): WebP's lossy compression is based on VP8's keyframe-encoding. Compression (lossless): Lossless compression with WebP is based on various techniques that transform the parameters and image data. This includes the LZ77 algorithm. An easier read in german about the WebP capabilities, its construction etc. would be ...
WebP: Das effiziente Format für Bilder im Web (DE) ... in order to read the linked article in english, just throw the german article URL through the Google translate website translator and perform an german to english website translation!

DarkClown got a reaction from Pšenda in WEBP Export questions
How can lossless compression be about "image quality"?? I can undestand that it may be about compression speed and file size - but not "image quality". If that's the case "lossless" is the completely wrong term!

DarkClown got a reaction from _Th in Proper feedback if command is not working
(Affinity Designer V2) It would be a good idea to give the user a proper feedback if a command is not working.
E.g. if you try to expand the stroke of a vector path with a brush (what hardly ever works) - Affinity V2 just goes over the non functional command without any notice. Effectively nothing happens. You have to select the node tool, click on the object to realise that the command did not do a thing. It also would be helpful to tell the user why the commmand could not be executed.

Thanks for providing additional detail as I hadn't realised this is only possible with CMYK in V2, I've been able to replicate this and it has now been logged with the developers. 🙂

    Klassischer Workaround:

So do a very large number of other AD users, going back almost to the first day the first Mac version was released. IOW, there are no 'real' vector brushes except for the few basic round ones.

DarkClown reacted to NotMyFault in How to determine the right brush?
In principle, only one brush, the basic round brush, and any pressure profiles and/or start / end patterns applied, can be used for expand stroke.

DarkClown got a reaction from Brian_J in Initial settings - basic parameters
We are all aware that a new version will not fullfill all wishes brought up by users from totally different working areas. On thing I was hoping for (since it affects all useres) was the topic of usability and workflow. Regretfully this - as before - was dropped again in the wishlist. Still we have to deal with stupid initial settings. Still changes to these setting are not saved so we have to change them over and over again.

e.g. initial color setting of the gradient tool:

Of course no one can forsee what gradient a user might be needing - but one thing is for sure: no 0%-30% black! (Any reason to not at least start with the most likely use for e.g. masks: 0%-100% black?). And is there any reason a setting the user changed is not stored till next time (this at least would reflect different user needs!)

And sorry to say - I actually did not find one setting in any dialog that ist saved. Even worse: you screwed up the initial setting of the color selector (always ending up with CMYK as preset). I don't thing this was deliberate - still: instead of improving (I hope the intention was to change the color mode according to the document setup) you made it worse.

Frankly spoken - I was full of hope that "workflow" would be a major issue for Version 2. - I now realise that improving existing features apparently has never had and did not find an Advocate within Serif.
    Cheers, Timo
