DarkClown Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 I wonder if there is a way to limit the "replace" function on the selected text? I only manage to get a search function over the complete text resulting in "replace all" will also effect the complete text. So I have to replace every single occurrence of the search text in a 200 pages text by manually clicking on "replace" since otherwise the complete search results would be replaced. I guess I'm just missing out the right way to set the search up properly to select an affected search area. Any Ideas what could be done? ( I thought there might be a chance to limit the search on "Sections" but I did not find a way for that either.) Thx for your help Cheers, Timo CLC and only7yb 2 Quote i7-12700KF, 3.60 GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, Wacom Intuos 4 Tablet, Windows 11 Pro - AP, AD and APublisher V1 and V2https://www.timobierbaum.com
Old Bruce Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 Sadly the Find and Replace is all or nothing. Every single piece of text is searched. v_kyr Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 In Affinity find/replace on just selected text seems not to be yet supported.- There are some workarounds but usually one doesn't want to do it that way, because then unnecessary extra steps are usually necessary. However, for one sort of a crippled workaround to limit search/replace take also a look here: find/replace on textchain or selected text DarkClown 1 Quote ☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan ☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2

That's very disappointing .... Seeing it's a highly configurable search an replace function ... but a very basic preselection is not possible 😞 ... But for some reason this describes the "Affinity Problem" for all products quite precisely. Brilliant functionality but struggeling with the plain basiucs ...
