Some work in progress: semi-manual lettering of Czech edition of the graphic novel Ghost World by Daniel Clowes. I am using Assets in Affinity Designer to build translated text letter by letter because there is no time to create font based on original hand lettering... in other words I am just too lazy these days

Probably a bunch of ways, so I'll just kick off the melee () with:
With the rasterized layer selected go to Select dropdown > Alpha Range >Partially Transparent. Hit delete.

All credits belong to Affinity team :) It is not 100% copy of original Help in AD. The formatting is slightly different (page layout, bullets, colours, etc.) so don't be confused. The file format is .ibooks. Sorry, I didn't use EPUB or other but I guess every user has iBooks installed :) Sorry if some references / hyperlinks are missing. I use old-fashioned "copy&paste" method to create this file. I've exported this file from iBooks Author to PDF too, but for some reason the hyperlinks don't work. Anyway if you prefer PDF here is the download link.  

I couldn't find any topic related to this item... so I'm asking here.
Is it possible in Designer to show Styles as list the same way as it is in Publisher?
If not, I guess it should be somewhere in the requested features for Designer (and Photo as well).

I used AD to draw and slice single glyphs for my new comic book font... regular is done, others (italic, bold, bold ilalic) are still in progress.

Hi Affinity Team,
I just wanted to post a quick note to say that you have created a pretty amazing app with Publisher.
I think the passion from the community around what needs fixing and adding and what have you gets a lot of focus - I have definite interests around certain aspects such as bleed and whatnot, but taking a step back for a minute....Publisher is quite incredible.  I mean I imported a print ready PDF of one of my past books created in InDesign into Publisher, and it came in perfectly with editable text, separated images, vector art and everything! I recall years back wishing I could open a PDF in InDesign, but had no way to do it - maybe there are tricks or third party apps that work with InDesign, but I was unable to....and here I am a week into the beta and already glossing over amazing functionality like this taking it for granted.
Please take it as a testament to your great work, as well as your impeccable past track record with other betas of frequent and impressive updates, additions and bug fixes  - in addition to this community wanting this to be an incredible first release.
Thank you for all of your hard work, and for all the work going on behind the scenes while these forums rack up the posts. I'm so excited for the upcoming beta and eventual final release, Not to mention a future iPad version!! Incredible. Keep up the great work!!

Beta version of Affinity Publisher has been launched, in this video, we are going to tell you how to create text column in "Affinity Publisher" and how to use "Picture Frame Tool" and text wrapping easily. I hope you like this tutorial. Thanks.
 

You may have seen this video on YouTube about Affinity Publisher Beta v. Adobe InDesign. which is in my opinion a massive fail. Affinity Publisher isn't a copy of of InDesign. It's a different operation concept. Think different!
I really like what I've seen and tested so far in APub - very good job!
To solve the problem of the video I've nested picture frames inside the beautiful symbols and with one click you've added a picture to all linked triangles as shown in this demonstration:

Hello.
Is there an option in Photo and/or Designer to convert text to curves during opening of PDF file instead of finding substitute font? I have this kind of option in Canvas X but I cannot find similar feature in Affinity... maybe I am just blind...
 

Well, theoretically yes, but I use Canvas X in my regular full-time job in automotive industry, not for comic book lettering (that is just my part time job) so it could potentially legal issue.
