A little late, but for anyone who's wondering:
select -> Select Sampled Color Hit okay Press crl + u to open up HSL panel. Adjust colors as you wish.  This is the closest alternative to "replace color" filter in Photoshop that I've found. The color replacement brush tool is cool and all, but in no way equal to "replace color." I'm not sure that Affinity photo has a replace color filter, sadly. These steps work though; only takes a couple of seconds more.

In the layers panel, make sure to re-select the background layer before doing "select sampled color" again, as I said in my previous post. Here's a walk through I just made for you

Let me know if this works for you :)!

Yeah I was going to say that he should be using Affinity Designer, too, but I still 100% agree that the crl modifier for crop and other tools is necessary with his job. You need to be able to symmetrically crop in from all sides. I'm a professional product photographer and it is the same story for me. I think the devs at Affinity Photo have no idea how important this feature is. Because they don't have it, I have to click and drag from each edge, one by one (or on the two vertices, but that offers less control for me). It is so, so painful.
You see, I usually have my item centered directly in the frame, and I always shoot wider rather than tighter (in case I need to do a square crop or something weird). So I always have to crop... ergo I always have to deal with Affinity Photo's awful lack of a crl modifier. This would take the devs half an hour -- maybe minutes -- to add. Please just add it. Even if I have to buy Affinity Photo 2.0 for it, I will.
Also, don't even talk about workarounds. The whole point of crl to center lock if for convenience. You lose all convenience when you have to place down rulers to do it.

HuniSenpai got a reaction from Yengnat in AutoTrace (convert raster image to vector)
Let's be honest, they're probably saving auto trace, shapebuilder, and line weight tool for version 2. The guys at Serif have proved that they are excellent software developers capable of solving problems and implementing new features relatively quickly.  These are the main things keeping Designer from being a near perfect software.
If they give us these features now, what else is there to entice us to upgrade to version 2 when it rolls around? The performance is basically perfect, all other tools are there, and it already beats Adobe Illustrator in a few ways. They already have programmed these features in the past with DrawPlus X8, so they certainly have the skills necessary to program them again.
I do not blame them for putting off these features. I sometimes grow a little worried about Affinity's business model, and if they are going to stay afloat. With such a low price and free updates, it amazes me that they can pay all of these fantastic developers. Some time along the line, they will have to raise their price and get people to buy their products again. And, if version 2 has these features, I will gladly pay $75-$100 for it, especially if it means keeping Serif afloat.
Additionally, I feel confident that they will make my $75-100 well spent. I have no doubt that they will make the auto trace and shapebuilder etc. as good as they can possibly be. Frankly, if I had the money, I would be donating to Serif. Adobe needs competition.

In case Serif is prioritizing feature implementation based on user demand, please add my vote for what pbass is describing. Quick handle symmetry and handles snapping to grid are both important to me. I now understand that the first part can be accomplished with the shift key (thanks for the tip, MEB!), but it's still slower and less predictable than simply pressing shift while dragging one handle and having both extend out together.

I know that, if you alt + click when you have the brush selected, you color pick.
I would like to see some kind of preview you, like what the color picker usually does. You know, with the zoom-in thing and the special eye-dropper icon to help you pick the exact color you want.
Right now, when I hold alt, it has no visual indicator.

I'm really not sure why crl doesn't have the ellipse marquee start growing from center instead of corner. It does this with the circle polygon tool, why not this selection tool? Also, I would like to do crl + shift in order to both expand from center and to lock it to circular.
Same thing applies to the rectangle marquee. Same thing also applies to the crop tool, which (in unconstrained mode) is missing both shift and crl.

Lol, leave it to coding forum posters to sideline the entire point and chime in to say that this feature would turn the entire world as we know it upside down just to try to shoot someone down to... idk... feel better about themselves or something, lolol. This thread is so off topic now. I just want to say that I have some coding experience too and good point @HuniSenpai.
I think the point being made is being lost on the details. This feature is missing in Affinity and should have long since been implemented, whether it takes 30 mins or multiple days for them to do so.

You assume that photographers only know photography? Are you really going to insult me like that? I am actually familiar with Java and have done some programming. To be fair, it's simple stuff -- basic GUIs, bots to control my computer and do silly stuff like a graphing calculator in ms paint, bot to auto list items and scan screen, click on buttons, etc.
But, to be clear, I am not saying I know anywhere near as much as these devs. However, am I wrong to say that it wouldn't take longer than maybe an hour? Maybe 30 minutes? Correct me if I'm wrong, but this does not seem like it is a hard thing to add.
Of course sometimes the most deceptively simple things can be complicated to implement -- I have learned that from my (slight bit of) coding experience. Still, I doubt this would be a multi-day project...

@AffinityMakesMeSmile  @fde101 Although I figured out a workaround and so have others here, the workarounds are tedious and annoying when this is usually a core feature (either via key command or a top menu button) in any other mainstream photo editor I have worked with. It's not that there is not a workaround; it's the simple fact that it's the year 2020 and a workaround for such a simple command is needed.

It is now 07/25/2020 and still, this most basic of features is not added. -_____-
This feature is absolutely CRITICAL when working with logo designs. It basically makes the program unusable for logo design.

I'm a 360 photographer since May 2015.  Some tools that would be very helpful to me:
    1. "View... New Views": Please save the equirectangular projection for each view.  This will let me switch quickly between equirectangular view and normal view.  And I want both views to be updated in realtime.
    2. Please add a tool like Lightroom's radial gradient.  I don't want to have to create masks.
    3. Please simplify the luminosity masking.  I would like it to work like lightroom:
    - I turn on the option for luminosity mask / range mask
    - I use a dropper to click on the shade I want to affect
    - I adjust the left and right edge of the range using a slider.
    4. One issue when making changes to the edge of a 360 photo is that it can create a seam.  I wish that if I toggle a "360 photo switch," then any changes to one edge would flow to the other edge as well, as though the left edge had a door to the right edge and vice-versa.  For example if I brush across the left edge of the 360 photo, I want the brush to continue to the right edge of the photo.  This is a unique feature that isn't available on other editors.
Also, if this 360 photo switch option is activated, filters should not stop at the edge, in order to avoid a seam in the 360 photo.  This is already implemented in the current version to some extent, although occasionally some changes create seams.
    5. I wish to be able to use the hand tool to rotate the equirectangular image (with no equirectangular projection).  Here's a video that demonstrates what i mean:

    1) Photoshop layer effect - Pattern Overlay - I use this all the time in PS. Look at Krita if you need help, they have it working and it's free & open source maybe you can sneak some code idk.
    2) Layer Fill & fill opacity not to be confused with flood fill or layer opacity. Layer fill only targets the image on the layer and ignores alpha we currently do not have a workaround so I stick to PS. This is a very big time saver! If I can't get layer fill to control alpha then give me an alpha toggle at least... Like how Krita & Clip Studio handle it.
    3) Adjust window text sizes (Especially when working with glyphs) I just blindly guess what I'm clicking on since the text can only be like 12x12px and some glyphs don't show well that small.
    4) The ability to open large photoshop files or handle file sizes - Crashes most of the time when working in 4k so I don't bother. I can't image how it would handle 8k. I stick to PS.

Yes, but is there a point to having it work this way? Why not have the simple act of holding alt be the activator for this, rather than clicking and dragging? I imagine it would be a relatively simple change in the code.
It took me months of using the program to realize that you needed to click and drag to pull up this indicator and magnifying glass. Before I realized this, I just assumed that there wasn't any indicator. The system would be a lot more intuitive if a simple button press and hold activated it. I really can't understand why it's implemented in this way.

That is not what HSL adjustment layer does.
HSL adjustment currently only lets you "mask" based on hue. That's what the big circular color wheel thing is for. That way you can change what was a blue hue into a red hue, for example, while the greens and yellows remain unchanged. HSL adjustment, ever since a version or two ago, is a "replace color" tool in addition to a tool you'd use to boost saturation, change hue of image overall, and change lightness.
All of this is lacking one major thing though: the target color selection currently only lets you target a specific hue range. I want to specify not only a certain target hue range, but also a target saturation range and a target luminosity range. This would allow me to increase the saturation of desaturated areas in my photograph, for instance. Or it could let me decrease the saturation in the dark, desaturated yellow regions and no where else.
In other words, the color range selection in HSL only has one variable: hue. I agree with Zeel, we should add one or two more variables to this feature.
