Your Affinity 2020 wishlist

To prevent me going back and forth from Affinity Photo to Adobe Photoshop/Essentials 2020 it would be great if the development team at Affinity could implement Automatic Shake Reduction and Colourise Photo functions. And also introduce the Trace Bitmap/Image Trace functions I already enjoy in Corel Draw and Illustrator would be a major boost.

This would most likely be a feature of Designer rather than of Photo, and indeed has been requested there already.  It may be some time before this happens, however.  Serif has indicated in other threads that while they have had tracing features in past software they are not happy with their accuracy and are planning on doing something much better for Designer, though that means it will take more time to achieve.

In Aftershot 3, there is a straighten tool. It's part of the Crop tool. I cannot find that functionality in AP. So I guess I will deal with it in my TIF editor.

When AP opens a raw file, it does not have a leveling feature. That tool exists after the raw image has been developed. Aftershot 3 (a raw developer) has it on the bottom strip, next to the Crop tool.

Select the Crop Tool. On the Context Toolbar, click the Straighten button. Move the cursor over the image, and it will become a carpenter's level. Draw a line along something that should be horizontal or vertical.

Often it is very difficult to achieve satisfactory results and if you don't like the result, you must always start over again!

Wishlist 2020:

Editing: 
- Alt-picker that is works with "What you see" color, not global composited color. - Dodge/Burn/etc tools should work inside masks (especially when edited in isolated mode). Masks editing really not on par with image editing (many tools not usable at all), which is sad - this is important/frequent case

- Keyboard numbers 0-1-2-3... work (as opacity hotkey) with some tools but not others (not in Smudge, Mixer tools... really frustrating to switch between keyboard and mouse when using this tools)
- Transparency lock on whole layer, not brush itself. This lock should be respected by other tools/brushes

- Paint Brush tool: would be great if Shift-click (for straight line) perform interpolation of brush size and opacity as well (between start-end), not only position

Filters:
- Non-destructive Warp tool, Non-destructive Deform filter - would be great to see this as Live filter
- Affine filter also would be great to have as Live filter as well
- Displacement filter: need separate sliders for X and Y directions and/or direction widget (to rotate whole thingy)
- Procedural Live filter: color input with color picker
- Procedural Live filter: methods to do color coversions (RGB <-> LAB)

Some of us digital painters (yeah, using Photo) would really prefer if that would be added as an additional mode, not to replace the existing one. As is super useful to be able to pick the global "resulting" color, not whatever is in that layer. But I am assuming that you are desiring to have an additional preference or additional mode.

yes, agreed that this could be just a preference. also, this is most needed in isolated editing - when you see only the layer (or mask in case of mask isolated editing) without anything else.

working in isolated mode in heavy-stack file make alt-picking completely unusable - you just *always* get wrong color. always. you simply can not pick what you see while using brushes, this is hillarious (and frustrating)

Please fix decimal pixel size in Document Resize window - e.g. 1200,3 x 800,1 pixels.

That has been available for a long time. See the Modifier Keys box in the Help for Painting Brush Strokes, or the Status Bar in Photo with the Paint Brush tool active.

You press Alt, then the left mouse button and start to drag.

Hi, not sure what is your workflow, but until AF Designer has Trace Bitmap implemented, you still can benefit of this feature for free: Inkscape is free, open source vector drawing software with a rather decent and powerful Bitmap Tracing functionality.

Hi derei thank you for your reply :) I can actually already trace bitmaps in my Corel Draw and Adobel Illustrator, I just think it would be hugely advantageous for AF Designer to introduce it and give the other companies a run for their money :)

I would love it if the adjustments and brushes etc. behaved the same way on a mask as they do on a pixel layer.
