    +1
And nested style/GREP, scripts... there're so many things usefull and fun in ID that it'll be difficult to find a replacement or to wait for such features in a new application.
I spend years doing "manually" some search and replace in QXD dreaming about being able to use some regular expressions...
Some features are only used by advanced users (I know a lot of people doing without and using fast clicking instead...) but it's nice to be able to think about a problem and resolve it with such tools or with scripts when needed.

Przemysław reacted to Adalbertus in Complete Pro Printing Tools
I know that similar subjects were posted on this forum before in different places, but now when time to public beta of Publisher is near, I think it's good to remind this.

To unleash the whole power of Affinity Range, we need proper pro printing tools, like good preflight,  good colour management, ink coverage measurement... Simply, all what is industry standard for this kind of work.
I think that all these tools should be quite similiar (at least at some major points) to Adobe products.
(For now, people designing for example in AD, must also use Adobe Acrobat Pro, pdfToolbox or other software if they want to print something at pro standard - and to avoid money loss because of wrong printing results)

And a quick question, because I saw in some general topics, that such tools, maybe will be introduced in Publisher, and then maybe will be transferred in future to AD and maybe Photo too. But I wanted to create recent, separate topic for this, because this is quite important.
So.... maybe my feature request is now ready in some shape (in APub?) or at least You can say something more about this?
I have seen video sneak previews for AD 1.7 and all features are awesome and I'm waiting for an update.
Also I have of course seen APub short video preview but...it was short and there was nothing about printing features, but I think that this is very important for many of us here.
To be honest, already I'm waiting with some shopping and other business decisions to see what you guys have prepared for us and I think that I'm not alone And after AD and APhoto I believe in you guys.

Przemysław reacted to Stephen_H in Affinity Video Editor?
Noooooo, don't do it... please don't make a video editor. Keep focussed. Make your design/print/layout/photography apps the most awesome apps out there. You know what you're doing in those fields. Continue along your development path and own these fields. Video is a totally different beast, and I really doubt you could make something better than Final Cut Pro, anyway. Then what next? You'll have to add 3D modelling, motion graphics, color grading and sound editing to that video editor to be considered serious player in the video scene.

Also, Affinity apps are professional-level apps. You can't go into video with a consumer, or even pro-sumer level application. If you do, it will water down the current line up of apps.

If you think designers are critical about your software and its [currently missing] features, wait until you try win over the video editing industry. Have a look at the backlash Apple experienced when it launched Final Cut Pro X. It was missing a few features that I'd hardly considered critical, and yet they nearly lost the entire editing industry to Premier over night. They even had to return Final Cut Pro 7 to the app store to quell the anger. Only now, with v1.3, is FCPX finally clawing back its lost user base.

I have both Premier and FCPX on my Mac. I love using FCPX, but I keep having to go back to Premier just because of one missing feature – it can't export an OMF any more. This means I can't send my project to an audio engineer for a final mix. This oversight is simply criminal and reduces FCPX to my "fun to own" list of software, and not a pro tool I use for paying clients.

Don't be tempted to become Adobe and try shovel a tool for every industry onto your customers. Stick to what you're good at and continue to make it utterly brilliant.

    Thanks Affinity.

i made them for the love of vintage lettering styles, and I use it for backgrounds, like the old Sanborn Maps style..
Anyway, as I’m quite new to brush making, I’m sure they can be improved, and if I do, I’ll update them here :-)
hope it it will be useful for some :-) and they can be downloaded from here..
feel free to give feedback.. good or bad is welcome as long as it is constructive:-)

Przemysław reacted to Manofjesus in Grass brush for AP - updated to v.0.2
Hi guys. I want to take part in help for Affinity Photo. Here is custom make grass brushes and example, that was made by me. If you have any comments or ideas to add/fix them - i will adjust/update them.
Each brush - it is not only one image, but at least 3 different variations of it. So when you draw - it draws in series 1,2,3,1,2,3,....like frames in movies - so the grass texture looks more natural and random.
The brush rotates according to drawing direction/route. If you don't need it - got to brush settings Dynamic/Rotation jitter - and set it to ZERO %

2017.12.24 - Version updated to 0.2. See attached pictures for explanations   Also i attach small palette for green hues.
2017.12.18 - They are 4 brushes. First 3 - intensity brushes, and last one - image brush.

Przemysław reacted to Bee and Nectar Design in Flip around rotation centre
I'd like the ability to flip an object or group around the rotation centre. If the rotation centre is in its default position at the geometric centre of the object/group, this is how the tool operates, and that's completely fine. However, if the object's rotation centre is moved, flip continues to operate around the geometric centre of the object, not the rotation centre.
The use case is wanting to mirror objects around the centre of the document, but taking account of the offset from centre. I've looked at tutorials for using the symbols tool to do this, but it's far too heavy handed for just mirroring one object.
    Because I'm lazy...

Przemysław reacted to R C-R in Progress with the Affinity Designer feature road map (split)
I find it funny that there have been more feature requests since the apps were released than I can count, & even ones that are well outside the scope of either app are often referred to as "must haves" or "deal breakers." Everybody has a list of features they would love to see added ASAP, myself included, but everybody's list is different. Many of them would require extensive rewrites to the core code and/or compromising one or more features that sets Affinity apart from the competition, so it isn't as simple to accommodate even a fraction of all those requests as many users seem to think (particularly considering the single native file format across all the Affinity apps that to my knowledge no other company, Adobe included, has ever even attempted).
Nope. Serif has never claimed that, only that they are alternatives to the Adobe & other graphics apps.
