Geez. So Matt writes that select same us the next feature he's going to work on, writing that today, and that initially it will work like Illy with it to be extended in the future and you feel the need to be a glass half full type of person?
Any wonder why Serif stopped responding much to requests? 'Cause if this is the type of response, I would too.

Remember to check the help/status bar along the bottom of the window for things like this...  it shows all of that information when you point at the nodes.

No, it is to "like" the original post.  That is one of the greatest benefits of having the ratings feature, but only if people actually use it.

    Aloha,

I 've notice when I insert a hyperlink Text>Interactive>hyperlink onto my picture(s) all is well 😀.  However, when I  file>export as an SVG file, all hyperlink(s) are gone.   Yes I realize PDF file will contain hyperlinks, SVG file can be used as images and contain hyperlink (<svg></svg>.  This missing feature is a MUST for web designer, UI designer because the advantage of SVG file over jpeg, png, pdf, etc are treminduse.    I can upload an SVG file as an image file to my website.  Works well for responsive websites and for creating beautiful looking website menus (hyperlinks).  Now, I am stuck importing my SVG doc files into INKSCAPE, were I can insert a link.  Finally,  I export/save my SVG file in INKSCAPE and upload to my website.  Now I have a beautiful picture/photo with object layers with hyperlinks used for my website minues.
Tested this by created and exporting a SVG doc and uploaded/open-with Google Chrome.  Hyperlink(s) are missing in Google Chrome, Firefox!
Not sure if I am using Affinity Publisher correctly or should use Affinity Design or photo?  I have all three of your products.  Love them to death!  Great Products.
Just think, if all your products could do this, all web designers will purchase your products with the capabilities up uploading images (SVG) to website layouts...

From what I can tell this is a thread that started off as a redundant request for something that had already been asked for, which was then pointed out by someone else, followed by nearly 21 pages of predominantly "me2" and "how is this not there?" and complaints and repetitive comments that add nothing of value to the discussion.  If the people developing the software are expected to wade through all of this it is no wonder the feature hasn't been implemented yet.  They are probably so fed up with the thread that they don't even want to think about it.  I suspect I would be...  if I hadn't locked it by now.
It speaks well of Serif that they have put up with it as long as they have...

This would most likely be a feature of Designer rather than of Photo, and indeed has been requested there already.  It may be some time before this happens, however.  Serif has indicated in other threads that while they have had tracing features in past software they are not happy with their accuracy and are planning on doing something much better for Designer, though that means it will take more time to achieve.

fde101 got a reaction from NilsFinken in Convert finished 2-page spreads to single pages?
If you are doing this for printing purposes, don't.  Instead, when you export the PDF, choose to export "All Pages" instead of "All Spreads".
This will do what you want at the time of export so that the design file can be kept in the generally more useful facing pages mode.

If you do need to split them in the Publisher file for some reason, I don't believe this is currently possible without some added manual work.  You would need to find all of the objects that span across the spreads and manually copy them from whichever side they wind up on to the side they were missing from.

A selection/masking tool based on Resolve's Qualifier panel would indeed be most welcome, as I have indicated before:

Indicate a range and low/high taper for each of hue, saturation, and luma (or alternatively of red, green and blue), along with options to "finesse" the resulting mask (plug holes, etc.) - Resolve really does have the best tool set I have encountered to date for working with color.

An adjustment with a set of color wheels would be a nice addition too at some point, but a selection tool based on Qualifiers would make many types of selections SO much easier...

Many are still waiting for a knife tool to be implemented in Designer, but at least we have the forks to go with it in the meantime.  Anyone who has watched the Matrix should know by now that there is no spoon, so when the knife tool comes around, the collection will be complete.

It is certainly different, and each of them is better than the other in different ways.  PagePlus was developed over a long time, and Publisher is relatively new.  It won't match the feature set on day one, and in some areas probably not ever, as it is being developed in a different direction from the older product.

If Photo and Designer are anything to go on, they obviously will.  These things do take time.

Note that you can apparently do this by manually editing a plist file: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/how-to-change-the-open-save-dialog-icon-sizes.2050263/

fde101 reacted to PaRunk in Improvements in the use of global colors needed
If I use global swatches for gradients and then change those swatches, all elements with one swatch are adjusted, but the gradients do not change.

Could you change this so that the assigned colors change in the gradients?

This saves the work of subsequently adjusting the colors of all color gradients.

In addition, it would be good to convert already existing non-global color fields into a global color via the menu. Have found that if I have created a color field with a global function and then right-click on the "Add color distribution to color field" function, all the colors created above are only created as normal color fields and not as global color fields.

    Non-destructive Auto-Levels!
I strongly second the wish expressed many times at different locations in the forum already. I have seen messages from others who posted that a good Auto-Level is one of the key points when they want to switch from Photoshop. I also find myself using the AUTO functions in Adobe Camera Raw, as well the Auto-Level in Photoshop very often. In many times they deliver very satisfying results which do need only little adjustment if any.
Can you please add a non-destructive Auto-Level, which can be edited by the user and give similar good results like in Photoshop?

fde101 reacted to walt.farrell in Cross reference to heading page numbers?
Yes, you can do that, using a couple of different methods.
The simplest, probably, is with hyperlinks and anchors, but this does not let you refer to "page xxx". You would need to provide some text, such as "see the section on gizmos" and "the section on gizmos" would be a link to the section of interest.
    For that approach:
At the Heading, put the text cursor on the heading and then Text > Interactive > Insert Anchor... and give it a name., At the reference point, where you have type the reference ("see the section on ...", select the reference text, and Text > Interactive > Insert Hyperlink.... Chose Anchor as the type of Hyperlink, pick the anchor you want, and pick a style. If you need "see page xxx" it's a bit harder:
Type "see page ". Outside that text frame, draw another small text frame, just big enough for the page number. Into that text frame, Text > Insert > Fields > Next Frame Page Number. Create another small text frame. This one will remain empty. Click the linking arrow on the lower right of the first small frame, then click on the second small frame. Now they're linked. Drag the first small text frame so it's positioned after "see page ", and then Pin it inline. Drag the second small text frame to your heading, and pin it to the heading. Here's an example of that second technique. There's a link from page 1 into the middle of page 4. I probably have a clearer example but I'm not finding it right now.

If you take a rectangle that already has rounded corners and convert it to a text frame, you can continue to adjust those corners after converting it.
Based on that, I agree it is a rather strange omission that you can't round the corners (or bevel them or whatever) of an existing text frame that did not start out that way.  I do hope this is fixed at some point.
