  1. As someone who transferred to Affinity Designer upon launch, ditching the traditional Adobe Products that most of the industry utilizes I am, for the most part, thrilled with incorporating Affinity Designer into my workflow. However, there are two features that I have been longing for. The first of which is the incorporation of editable text in an exported PSD. Some clients desperately want the PSD files of all of the work in the final form, and documents with tons of text present an issue as all text now exports as a pixel layer. I know it is a huge coding ordeal, but it would be such a huge asset to us all. Please, in your next update try to incorporate this feature for your dedicated designers using your design programs so that we are not forced to find ridiculous workarounds. Secondly, I would love to see an option for batch exporting of artboards to save them as the individual artboard name in a dedicated folder. So much of my time is spent opening a new document and placing the contents of each artboard individually on a new canvas and saving them for client work. A batch save option would be extremely helpful, especially if the same options are available there like the ones currently available in the export menu.
  2. When using the frequency separation dialogue, it would be great to be able to chose the type of blur to apply: Gaussian, Median or Bilateral, since each as a different effect on the edges. Thank you
  3. I would like to know if it is possible to add masked options for the sub brush feature. Basically like dual brush in Photoshop or masked brush in Krita, where the sub brushes will be masked to the shape of the main brush, and won't exceed the edge of the main brush. I think the closer comparison would be Paintstorm Studio, as Paintstorm's double brush allows two brush to be drawn at the same time, and there is an option to mask the second brush to the first brush. Maybe, for the masked brush, there can be options to use blending modes when merging the brush together, as I'm not sure if it is doable currently.
  4. Please consider writing into your next forum website functions, the ability to use colored text and colored backgrounds & highlights.
  5. While you are writing code for new retail versions, please consider: 1. Make the help topic pages sizable to offer screen wide views. (As it stands now, you can resize only vertically; it should resize vertically and horizontally. 2. Make each panel within the topic page sizable relative to the whole page (As it stands now, when you zoom in on a help topic page, the sidebar zooms wider at the expense of the topic text panel; it should at least work the other way around where the text panel zooms at the expense of the sidebar panel. 3. (Each panel within the page should be able to be sized independently of the whole page.) 4. or, Make the entire page zoomable just like the canvas in the drawing persona. I will assume that the development teams for all applications are collaborating to make all Affinity applications behave the same so I will not repost this under the other application forums unless you advise otherwise. 6. We may have discrete Sections available as Fields but running footers/headers making use of specific paragraph types (i.e. Heading 1, which might have Flow break to the top of the next page). Ideally, we could configure which paragraph styles are accessible in View > Studio > Fields. My suggestion would be to have it user-configurable from right-click the "Edit <Paragraph Style>" Paragraph > Field Options Available as Field? First or last available? On Page or Spread? (see relevance of first/last in previous question) This would make for some really robust footer/headers on master pages, esp. in education or technical materials with dense, structure order to their contents, allowing us to guide the read through. The Field referencing the other Paragraph style occurring in the main document could be styled by any existing paragraph style as expected.
  7. Complicated illustrations that have a lot of shapes on a particular layer can take a bit of time to scroll through. Opening multiple layers can result in even more scrolling which, depending on how much memory/processing power your iPad has available, can slow things down sometimes. I’d like to suggest a button/control for the Layers Studio that would collapse all open layers/groups, giving users a place to start over when searching through the parts of a document. Also, how about a control, possibly for the contextual menu at the bottom of the screen, that would give users the option to “show object in Layers”. It would be a shortcut that would instantly open the Layers Studio and jump to the shape/group selected, once again minimizing the scrolling search for a particular item.
  8. I'm sure that I'm not alone in wanting this feature. Coming from a background of working in Photoshop (I'm not really a vector-person), I absolutely love using Affinity Designer's Pixel Persona. The organic/natural media-esque brushes have always been my go-to, and I've been using them in Designer a bunch. On the flip side, I use the Draw Persona more for layout and lettering. For this reason I think it would be really handy to have the Magic Wand Tool (the same as in Photo) in the Designer Pixel Persona. So far the selection brush doesn't really do the trick, and using the lasso (while very useful) to manually select areas can become a bit tedious. Just putting this out there for consideration.
  9. I have recently started using Affinty Designer and found that few basic features were missing which all the other professional Vector Editing Software have. Split Point ( This feature allows to break the point into Two separate points ) Minus/Plus or remove/add node ( Feature in Pen Tool to add or remove a node without limiting to shift to different tools ) Break Apart or Release Compound Path ( After Separating a shape with subtract front from back I need to be able to use both separations as different object rather than one single unit ) Create Clipping Mask or Power Clip option in Context Menu and Also Ctrl/Command + Drag object over other object for Quick Power Clipping(This feature is required for the reason of better efficiency ) Actions or Automation ( This Feature is in Illustrator which allows pre-recorded actions to take complex or rather bulk part of the work be smoother and FASTER ) Shape Builder Tool ( This Tool makes it easier for ratio base designing ) ( This is specifically required for professional designers ) Hovering Thumbnail along side the eyedropper tool with Color information (Eg : ) ( It is much need feature if you use it ) Convert to Curves should be included in Text Drop Down Menu. Change of units from right click on ruler ( This feature allows change of measuring unit from just by right clicking on the ruler ) Convert Object to Guidelines ( This Feature allows to Convert Object into Guide Shapes ) Object Locking option in Context Menu (much needed feature for Desktop and Mac user ) Color Numeric Value in swatches with the current color mode ( This feature is highly required one suggested by dadesign I.e.: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/77313-color-numeric-value-in-swatches/ don't know the person but really useful feature ) Thank You for Hearing,
  10. In GIMP, when you import/open an image, you can make your edit(s) to said image and then immediately export it in it's original format with a simple hotkey or with two (2) simple clicks (File > Overwrite "example-image.jpg"). You can see this in the image attached. Please implement this feature or tell me how I can do something similar in no more than 2 actions. It GREATLY improves workflows of this nature. Thanks in advance.
  11. In competing page layout software it is possible to right-mouse click an image (vector or bitmap) and open that asset in an external editor of the user's choice. InDesign, for example, offers this option, and I often make use of it. I looked and looked, and it seems Publisher lacks this rather basic functionality. I understand that Photo will become part of Publisher as a Persona, but that still will not solve this issue, since not everyone will be interested in purchasing Photo and/or Designer, and may prefer to edit their assets in other software. My request would be then: please add a simple "Edit With..." option to allow Publisher users to open any asset in any custom editor of their own choice.
  12. It would be great to have an option down on the context sensitive bar to automatically expand a stroke after drawing a stroke with the pencil tool. In the Adobe Stock/Shutterstock world, you can't have strokes on your vectors, all strokes must be expanded before you can upload an image, so my workflow includes me pressing Expand Stroke after every line i draw. On the desktop i just set expand to a single keypress so it's quick and easy, but on ipad it involves 2 extra pencil taps to the menu then the option. It's mildly inconvenient. It would be great to either add an expand button to the context bar of node, pen and pencil tools OR just have an option to turn on auto-expand which would just expand after the line is drawn. This could replace the need for a blob brush if you combined an auto-expand option with a sclupt mode. One less tool, same functionality.
  13. In Microsoft Word, it is possible to select all occurrences of a given format and then apply a new or different style. This is very helpful when importing text from different Word files that different formatting. I cannot find how to do this so I suspect this is a feature request. Thank you in advance.
  14. I would love the ability to preview in black and white (as masks) the range that is selected using the blend options, then I can load it to a selection and use it to manually blend images. This will be also useful if you make minor adjustments and would like to see in more detail the areas affected by that adjustment. I would also like to see this extended to the select menu, so we can make range selections using curves. If this feature will be implemented luminosity masks macros will be a thing of the past.
  15. Yesterday I tried to make some ajustments using affinity but unfortunately I wasn't able to get it right. There are two missing features. There isn't something like an eyedropper for selecting the color. Sometimes PS considers something as yellow when it looks green for instance. But much more importantly, there isn't any way to change the range of the color it's trying to affect. This is crucial for a lot of HSL ajustments. A lot of apps do offer the ability to adjust the HSL range. Now you can adjust only parts of an autumn leave for instance, the red channel doesn't cover everything and the yellow channel covers other things too so it's just not possible. Maybe you can work around this issue by using something like color range, but that limits your options to only one color and it's more work and less flexible. Please refer to the attached screenshot to see what I mean.
  16. I realize that you can't deactivate Mac system fonts but I really don't need those fonts in my design documents. I need only my designer fonts of which I have many. Since no one can't activate thousands and thousands of fonts all at once, on any powerful system, I activate and deactivate only what I need per project. So it would be very nice to have a clean list of fonts - only see my designer fonts that are currently active. In other words, just hide not deactivate. Can there be a switch to turn the visibility of fonts on or off? That would be so great to not have to mentally block out STIX and all those other fonts that I never use and don't need and really make it difficult for me to scroll through the list.
  17. Exactly as it says - I'd like to be able to put any number of arbitrary objects along a path, and distribute or align them in that manner. Type on a path is already possible, this just extends it to an arbitrary group of objects.
  18. Adding points to a path is quite easy in Affinity Designer, but removing them can be quite tedious. Even cursory removal of unnecessary nodes would really be helpful.
  19. I'm working on a graphic-heavy report and re-pagination from the layout breaks what would be accurate citations. This is handled manually at the moment (unless there's a way to jury-rig the Index manager?). Request Citation Manager in the top three formats (APA, MLA, and Chicago/Turabian). Ability to set whether the document uses an end-of-section or on-page-where-citation-occurs approach.
  20. I got some feature requests... 1. Overprint Mode: In Indesign, the shortcut is W. It hides all the guide line so you can see the final result without any distraction, I think this is essential. 2. Bleed View: We've been asking for this since the launch of Affinity Designer, I'm not sure if it is integrated in Publisher cause I couldn't find it. 3. Text Columns: In Indesign, CMD+B, in Publisher, Paragraph Studio. I really hope it'll be possible to get column settings in Paragraph settings and Paragraph Style. 4. Auto resize frame to fit content: In Indesign, Option+CMD+C. This is a tedious and necessary work. 5. Hide texts outside the frame: Instead of seeing a bunch of text hanging outside the frame, I'd rather get a error mark on the frame. Beside that: So... this is how the windows interact now? Instead of sliding down from the top bar, Publisher creates one another floating windows, and they can not be grouped with other "Studio" which is kinda confusing. I've used every Affinity software, including the iPad ones, and Publisher looks promising too! I'll keep updating the post as I learning more about Publisher, thanks for the great work!
  21. With Aperture dying and with Lightroom now being rental software only (I will not even get into the hot mess that Apple's Photos is), I was wondering whether there are any plans to implement image management into Affinity photos. That would be great! Lars
  22. Hello, F2 is almost universally used as rename on Windows but Affinity programs don't let you set a keyboard shortcut for renaming a layer. I would suggest adding an optional keyboard shortcut for this .(Maybe not even set by default if you are worried users wouldn't like it.) What would also be amazing if you could select an element directly on the canvas and use a key to rename its layer directly!
  23. Hello Serif Team, i have a request for a possibility to generate Loren ipsum text that we can use for design projects to be considered for coming versions. it's very useful to have a possibility to fill in text box or create titles with Loren ipsum, it helps a lot for those among us who create design samples they would like to sell or present to clients or project team as free to modify stuff? Even the coming Apub should have that functionality too !
  24. Hi Serif Team, I bought Affinity Photo half a year ago, and it hasn't disappointed me. In fact, I am very happy with it. But I miss the library function from Lightroom. When I edit a 20mb RAW file, the .afphoto file is 130mb big (or similar dimensions). I would really appreciate a library functionality, the project files don't have to contain copies of the source files. And I would really like to hand off the managing of all the projects to a background program. Maybe this is even an idea for another new app, and it isn't urgent. But I wanted to mention that there is interest in such an app. Best Regards
  25. So Affinity Designer, as it turns out, has a lot of potential for cel animation work. You can create a decent enough animatic in the bitmap persona using layers for onion skin, then just stick it all together in your editor of choice. My only request - could we have an "export selected layers as PNGs" feature please? That would save me having to go through toggling transparency and exporting one-at-a-time. animatic_scene2.mp4
