But if you uncheck the Apply to Selection then the Color panel is not updated and you cannot take the hex number.

Thank you both for your reply.
@Lagarto thanks to your video I found the issue, if you have the Image type layer selected in the layers panel and start sampling the color, this layer is recolored which it doesn't happens if you have a pixel layer type selected.

You should be able to use the Color Picker Tool (with optional sample radius) and then copy the hex value, in each of the three apps, without applying the color to anything, if you do not have anything selected when picking the color:

You’re welcome.
There’s at least one existing feature request to add a user-controlled sample radius: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/139588-color-sampling/
There may be one for being able to copy the value also; you can look for one if you wish to add to it.

In Photo (only) you can use the Info Panel, change the Colour Model of a Sampler to RGB Hex and then you can us the Sample from Location tool.
See attached video.

jc4d got a reaction from eltee in Vector/pattern fill
Hi all,
I'm considering buying Designer but one thing that I can't find is if there is a way to fill an object using vector or patterns. I only find gradients and bitmap.
I know we can duplicate an object to create hand made pattern but I can't then edit the repetitions like if is a bitmap fill.
Cheers,
Juan

That's a bit unfair. The software has to be released at some point and cannot remain in BETA forever. There will always be issues and regressions so cut the team some slack and FYI AP is much faster and perhaps you should give more detail on the issue as to why it is slow on YOUR machine and not the rest. It is very easy to become a critic but it is not helpful if you are throwing something in there just because your are frustrated!

jc4d reacted to Patrick Connor in Affinity Designer for Windows - 1.10.0
We are pleased to announce an update for the Windows release of Affinity Designer, version 1.10.0
The detailed changes in Affinity Designer for Windows 1.10.0 (over the last release Affinity Designer for Windows 1.9.2) are as follows:
Fixes & Improvements:
Improved performance with: Heavily layered documents (faster rendering during panning and text reflow). Placed images. Text. Embedded documents. Low-memory conditions. New Selection options Parent, Top, & Bottom Improved IME text editing for Japanese and Simplified Chinese languages. Improved SVG import/export. Fixed issues with documents that have large numbers of embedded documents failing to load.
(The maximum number of allowed open file handles was being exceeded leading to erroneous 'Future Version Error') Added support for most emoji. Added ‘Limit Initial Zoom to 100%’ preferences option. Resource Manager: New "Relink" option for missing resources. Added "File Type" column. EPS files can be linked. Assorted other small fixes. Help & localisation improvements.
UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (free for existing customers)
The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in Help > About Affinity Designer).
If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the Affinity Store software it will check for updates and offer any available update. The latest update will install over the top of any earlier version, with no need to uninstall. You can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "Download" button in there. Alternatively, this new release (and previous versions of Affinity Designer for Windows) can be downloaded from this link (that installer is NOT for Windows Store purchases and needs a product key).
If you’ve purchased from the Microsoft Store— Microsoft Store updates are done automatically by the operating system (each time you start the application). If this does not happen for you, open the Windows Store app and click the three dots in the top right corner of the app and then go to Downloads and Updates. Click Get Updates. This should hopefully force the update to show.

Thanks. Future betas (on all platforms) should have new code to cope with the recent change by Unsplash, and these images will start drag/dropping again.

jc4d reacted to StudioJason in Pattern Layer, with Photos- understanding how to retain Pixel Quality(iPad)
Here is a learning/tutorial I created for Understanding Pattern Layer and Pixel Quality, and using Photos. Made using Affinity Photo on iPad Pro (mainly for iPad users- but concepts apply to any version). Is merely a BASIC relay of information and steps....know there are more advanced aspects, but mainly for beginners or even advanced users to better get a gist of what’s going on, and how to get better results. Primarily focuses on the use of Hi Res Photo Images, and how to use them for some amazing results making use of the Pattern Layer feature.
‘Again, know it is basic....but hopefully can help!
Video is available on my YouTube Channel, with many others https://www.youtube.com/user/StudioJason69
