There a several post in the bug report sections from users working in the architectural context. Despite this simply think of creating huge designs that will be printed as posters via online print services. All DIN formats should be availlable as presets.

@lacerto I see you are still patient 🙏. But i think meanwhile the whole mess with v2 has become absolutely unacceptable.
To say it clear: there is no "half working" boolean operations (Mo, Tue, Fr, but only between 8:00 and 15:00 hours, wtf...). Either it works 100% or it doesn't (it had in v1 !!!). If it doesn't work 100% it's not usable - it is a bug not a feature. This is no guessing game. I have to earn my living with this! And we all already payed for this "revolutionary piece of software".

i can not reproduce this with two simple test documents. Does the error occur if you create two completely new documents and create two completely new graphics? Maybe you can provide your problematic Publisher files for the support team.

This is because you have View > Show Text Flow enabled - text flow displays on top of all objects. If you don't want to see them just disable it until you need it again.
It has to work this way because some users layer objects on top of linked frames for design reasons and would thus be unable to ever see text flow.
    Cheers

    Wow i'm just stunned - and that's it ? ...................... to put i politely: "I am not amused" !
"Oh, if it works with one or two pages we are all happy - Kumbaya..."
Do not take it personally, but that's .......................................

    1) First of all: Batons document scenario is nothing unusual for professional graphic designers. Create a "boring" product catalogue with hundreds of pages and complex technical tables and CAD drawings. Not sexy - but often that's our daily bread. And we need performant and reliable tools to get our work done!

    2) Didn't you see my specs ??? I guess my machine is beefy enough to handle bigger tasks (8 Core Xeon, 64 G RAM, dedicated graphics card,...). And as the above screenshot of my task manager showed: during the 30-60 freeze period there was only max. 10% CPU / 2 GB RAM usage.
So don't blame it on the hardware consumption!

    3) I recreated a similar document with Batons original graphics in InDesign CS6. Note that this (32 Bit) software now is far over 10 years old and was never intended to work on Windows 10. This test is done on the exact same workstation as the above Affinity Publisher test. Exact same environment, real time. And the objects are NOT embedded PDF files - these are all editable InDesign text and mostly vector objects duplicated on each page. And object snapping is on!

As you can see in the first video i copied the objects from the first page over and over into th other pages (CTRL c -> ALT+SHIFT+CTRL v). I repeated this 74 times. As you can see in the task manager the CPU usage varies around 5-10%. And sometimes there is a little delay (1-2 sec) when pasting or scrolling. Yes, so much objects on so much pages. But at the end the whole documents keeps stable and the work can be robustly saved.

2022-12-07_publisher_multipager-indesign-test_1-1_001.mp4 In the second video you can see that it's still possible to drag around and copy groups of elements in this huge document. Either with CTRL c/v or ALT+drag. It's even possible to drag copy the elements onto other pages - meaning draging and scrolling in this huge document at the same time time! And again - object snapping is active!
Yes, there are sometimes delays of 1-2 seconds on ALT-drag. But this might be expected. Compare this to the Affinity Publisher case described above where the whole application freezes for 30-60 seconds on EACH CTRL+drag !
Important side note: InDesign seems to be aware of the heavy task and only shows the bounding box of the moved elements during dragdrop. Small but important detail to increase interactive performance. One of the simplest, most effective and oldest strategies i have experienced since i work with several DTP software over decades. It just works!

2022-12-07_publisher_multipager-indesign-test_1-1_002.mp4 I started with Affinity arround 2017 and always hoping for the best. But this bugy release 2.0.0 has really disappointed me 😔
The fundamental question with the Affinity Apps is: Is Serif really willing to sometime provide professional software for professional users?
Or do you rather like to stuck in your niche with "cute small documents" and "cute small illustrations"...

P.S. ... and by the way just for the records:
This is how it looks like in Publisher with Batons original document. There is only ONE page and i have snapping on. I CTRL+drag the table elements around. See how laggy this is even with one single page. And watch the hardware consumption (CPU / GPU) of your "state of the art" 64 Bit software compared to the above "mature" 32 Bit InDesign 🙄

4dimage got a reaction from Arnold295 in Resize layout page always anchors to center
    Hi guys,
i found this in Publisher v2.0.0
I want to resize a page so that it remains it's width but get more free space at the bottom. I want the existing page content to stay at the top left corner of the resized page.
    1) I right click on the page in the pages palette -> context menu layout page properties. By the way, the prominent Button in the top menu bar in v1 was far better placed, than the hidden dropdown menu item now in v2.
2a) In the dialog i unclamp aspect ratio and change height from 4000px to e.g. 5000px
2b) On the scaling tab i set the anchor point to upper left corner
    3) After quiting the dialog with OK the layout page scales correctly. But it shifts all existng content to the center of the page.
The settings for anchoring in v2 are completely ignored. In v1 the process worked exactly as espected. After scaling all existing page content was anchored to the upper left corner and the page was resized relatively to this corner.

    EDIT
Just found this weird behaviour: the Icons in the dialog don't match the expected page format. I changed a new DIN A4 document to 210mm by 400mm. This should stil be a portrait format ?!

I guess this is related to some other v2 bugs concerning pathes that where created from Text (artistic text -> convert to curves). These shapes lead to weird results in boolean operations, montage group and with the new shape builder tool.
I guess Serif is aware of this bug.
Read e.g. this and other posts:

If i take your shapes and try this in Designer v1 (select all -> boolean merge) it works as expected without any problems:

    @SidM8
Thank god if your v1 apps still work! I highly recommend to NOT uninstall your v1 Software if it's still working stable !!! I have all v1 and v2 apps installed in parallel and even did the v1.10.6 updates (v1.10.6 working properly so far).
I did only one small project with v2 (no way back 😞) and will switch back to v1 for further work until there is at least the first v2 update availlable. Better wait for a proper v2.x public beta release to test all the crappy stuff in advance...
Reasons - sorry Serif but have to say this:
    1) In my opinion the v2.0.0 release is NOT production ready. The whole release is nothing more than a huge public beta because fundamental functionalities (stable in v1 for years) are partially broken in v2 and the new features also contain bugs that urgently have to be fixed.
    2) Serif had recently released an update 1.10.6 on all three apps:
I guess the latter speaks for itself...😶

    Hi @joe_l,
Can confirm this is happening for myself on Windows but not on Mac.
It appears the Copy is copying at 72DPI.  If you create a 72DPI document in V2, add some text and apply the Mesh.  Then copy and paste that into a 72DPI document in V1, the size will be the same.
I'll get this logged with the Developers

Thank you for your answer. I think, in use, it is a real problem, even if it is not a bug. I think programming ideas needs to be tested in real life, in this case, the idea causes problems which require unnecessarry workarounds (maybe nonsensical workarounds). I think Affinity tries make things easier compared to other softwares, in this case they did not succede, I hope they will fix it, and will add a real pasteboard with proper options.

    Hi Designers,
I just wanted to pop back in and give you an update.
OK, I received a few emails about updating the Performance Options, Thank You BigNickEnergy  for the Tips.
I have also done an extra Step 3 as well and  have Included all the Screenshots for you as well on a Windows 11 machine.
I have done the following as well as Resetting and Resetting all 3 Affinity Apps DE2 / PH2 / PUB2

1]  First thru the Windows App settings in Apps: [ All Screenshots attached for Windows 11 ]
    Settings > Apps > Installed Apps > Select App > Menu (3 dots ...) > Advanced Options > Reset > Un-Install
This Procedure just makes sure all yr Apps are Clean and freshly installed.

2]  Next I went and did the same as BigNickEnergy above.
    Windows Settings, go to:
    Settings > Display > Graphics.
a] In the Add an app drop down, select Microsoft Store Apps and click Browse.
b] Select Affinity Designer 2 from the list. Once it's listed,
c] click the Options button next to it and change it to High performance and click Save.
d] Restart Affinity Designer 2 if you had it open already.

3] This is the extra Step I did. I went in and changed the Default Settings for Graphics
for the > Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling.
It was Turned OFF and I Turned it ON
    >  Settings  >  System  >  Display  >  Graphics  >  Default Graphics Settings  >  [ Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling ]  >  ON
When you get there Turn the GPU Option ON and I also turned on the Optimization for Windowed Games but you can test both Options.

    RESULTS SO FAR
Now it is early days but at the moment I am having no major problems with either Designer 2 or Photo 2 but I will know more
as I build up the layers and graphic details I have in these particular projects so I will pop back and update you on how I am going.

ATT LEIGH > I wanted to let you know that below are the 2 Crash Dump Report Files you asked for, I decided that you probably did want me to upload these
and they are below for you, One Report for Designer 2 and One for Photo 2. I haven't used Publisher 2 yet so didn't upload anything for that ok.

All the best Designers and we'll chat soon.
    Cheers Kev Borg
