@Galfaille -- I went back and reread and followed the instructions in that part of the tutorial, and it is Subtract that I used to get the final shape. For the shape, we want the triangle to cut away from the pupil of the eye. I may add one more page to this, as I do go kinda fast on that part and I'd rather have a longer explanation than to be vague. Many thanks for that catch, shows me where things need to be clearer.

Thanks so much for the comments. I try to keep my tutorials informal and relaxed (for the most part), as I am  s o  tired of tutorials that are oh-so-serious. I feel that being relaxed is a better state of mind to learn.

Affinity Photo for iPad – the first fully-featured, truly professional photo editing tool to arrive on Apple’s tablet – is now on sale.

We were proud to be able to launch it during the keynote at Apple’s WWDC in San Jose on 5 June – the highlight of Apple’s global product launch calendar.

If you saw that, or if you use Affinity Photo already, you’ll understand why it’s the choice of thousands of professional photographers, retouchers and editors around the world.

We think Affinity Photo for iPad redefines photo editing once again, by bringing almost all the features in the Mac version to your iPad, so you can take all that photo editing power with you wherever you go.

The new version is tailored to harness the explosive power of the iPad’s hardware and touch capabilities, and is compatible with iPad Air 2, iPad 2017, iPad Pro 9.7-inch, iPad Pro 10.5-inch and iPad Pro 12.9-inch. Please note this is not the list of iPads that the App Store suggests it will work with, see this post for an explanation.

We expect this to be the biggest launch we’ve ever had and even better, Affinity Photo for iPad is priced at an introductory discount of more than 30 per cent in the App Store – so for now, you pay £19.99 / $19.99USD / 21,99€.

I am a new user to Affinity and I have the iOS version on my iPad Pro. I am following along with the tutorials and I have 3 suggestions that will help me, and might help others as well.

    1. The iPad in the tutorial is diagonal to the screen I am viewing and it is difficult to see what buttons he is pressing.

    2. The pictures he is using in his examples, I do not have any of. Perhaps, in the future, you could include those pictures as downloads, so, as he is making adjustments, we could as well. This would help me remember what buttons are where and would enrich the learning experience.

    3. Have the tutor slow down in his selections. His tempo is fast.

Hi, I'm Gregg. I am new to DrawPlus. I've looked  at it for a few years but always decided against it because it was Windows based. I've have always had Parallels installed on my iMac but thought using software more native to the Mac (a lot more efficient to use). I am retired and  dabble in art. My favorite software has been Sketchbook Pro and ArtRage. As for Vector programs for the Mac, they are limited. I have and used iDraw and Artboard. Both have their pluses and minus. So, a couple of days ago I decided to dip my toes in the water and bought DrawPlus 5 to see if I really like working with it on Parallels. I knew from previous experience that it was a really good program that fit in with what I like to do. I made my first entry in the DrawPlus forum and was told about DrawPlus (Beta) on the Mac. I've beta tested for a couple of CADD program and thought this would be fun. I'm looking forward to this program because the Mac needs a really good vector drawing program like DrawPlus.

Frequently when I have been working in a multi-object drawing I select an existing layer by clicking on it.  Then to move the object slightly I give it a nudge using a shift direction arrow key.  It will first jump a seemingly random direction and distance with the first key stroke.  After that it acts like it should.

To get it to do it again I have to be working on another object for awhile.

I believe it did this in the last beta.  I'm not sure if it did this in MAS.

I miss the function 0.001 mm or 0.003 pt line setting for laser and mill-chut/mill.

In Affinity Designer 1.4.1. is just a line with 0,1 pt possible.

It would be great to have this function to use in svg and eps...

    Hi there,

My apologies if this has been posted, but I was wondering if an auto save feature can be implemented in the app by some way or measure? Affinity on the iPad is insanely powerful, but I run into stability issues in which the app crashes from time the time. The problem is when it does crash, my project is lost.

    Much obliged!

A newbie here, enjoying this awesome program and the excellent video tutorials.  There is an adage that 'the photo never lies' but after seeing only some of the editing techniques I wonder if, to that adage, we should add ' ...unless it is a digital photo'.

I have tried searching "forensics" as I was wondering if the various photo editing techniques are detectable from the finished image.  I hasten to add that I have not bought this programme with any intention of committing a crime or hiding / manipulating evidence!

I am just curious as to whether a pixel altered photo (AP or otherwise) is detectable in some way by scanning the resulting image.  Would for instance entering an AP edited photo be acceptable in a photographic competition.

Sorry if this topic has been addressed in previous posts - if is has perhaps someone could direct me thereto?

Thank you for a first-rate piece of software.

    Where do I get support?
The best place for asking questions, reporting bugs and requesting features is right here on our forum – this is where we all hang out:

     · Questions
     · Report a Bug on Mac, Report a bug on Windows and Report a Bug on iPad.
     · Make a feature suggestion

    What are the system requirements?
OS X Mavericks (10.9) or above for Mac and Windows 7 (SP1) and above for MS Windows – but you can see the full spec for Affinity Designer here and for Affinity Photo here

Is it available to buy for Windows?
Affinity Designer for Windows is available to here, and Affinity Photo for Windows is available to buy here and both are also on the Windows Store here. We support 64-bit editions of Windows 7 (SP1), 8.1, and 10.
If you have bought any Affinity apps for the MacOS or Windows or iPad and want to run on one of the other platforms also, you will need to purchase additional licenses for those other platforms.

    Are there trial versions available?
Yes, there are free 10-day trials for Mac and Windows available on our site, with Affinity Photo at affinity.serif.com/photo/trial and Affinity Designer at affinity.serif.com/designer/trial.

I've used my trial, can I have another?
No, unfortunately not. The trials need to be secure to prevent abuse, so even though your wish is for an honest evaluation we cannot circumvent the trial checking built in to the app. If you installed a trial of Affinity Photo or Affinity Designer before, you can only use a future trial when it is updated to reflect new features (1.6, 1.7, 1.8 etc). The customer beta versions of Affinity apps do not offer an additional trial period and only work for paid customers.

What is Affinity Photo Plugin support like?
We are currently working with some plug-in manufacturers to make their plug-ins fully compatible with Affinity Photo. We will keep you updated on our progress. We would also love to know which plug-ins you would like to see made compatible with Affinity Photo.

Do you plan to have Web site design/Digital Asset Management/animation/video editing products too?
We’re not sure yet! but we are very interested in adding a DAM solution to the Affinity suite in future.

Do you produce apps for iPad?
Affinity Photo for iPad is available from the iOS App Store here.
Affinity Designer for iPad is available from the iOS App Store here.

Do you have any tutorials or handbook available?
We have the Designer Workbook available to purchase here and the Photo Workbook here. We also have a comprehensive set of video tutorials, you can find our growing collection here . Due to high design and production costs each Workbook is only available in English and in German, with no plans for otther languages.

Are Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher available in any languages other than English?
    Yes, each apps already includes
English (US and UK), German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese (Brazilian), Japanese, Russian,
and Chinese (Simplified). Language is chosen for you automatically and you can also change it in Preferences > General.

How does the pricing work in different countries?
We set the price in USD for sale within the USA, and from there the price shown in other countries and currencies is set by Apple based on a matrix they use. We have no control over that matrix or any updates Apple may make to it in the future. Our Affinity Store matches these prices for Windows to make the sale price the same.

Are Affinity Windows apps available to buy outside of the Affinity Store?
Yes, Affinity Designer for Windows and Affinity Photo for Windows are available on the Serif Affinity Store and also the Windows Store.
Are Affinity Mac apps available to buy outside of the Mac App Store?
Yes, Affinity Designer for Mac and Affinity Photo for Mac are available on the Serif Affinity Store and also the Mac App Store.

This also applies to educational and other volume license sales — Serif operate volume purchase programs for organisations to reduce costs and simplify distribution and management, which you can find our more about for business here and for education here.

Is there anywhere I can download a cheat sheet showing the shortcuts for Affinity apps?
Yes there is! You can download a full list of default shortcuts for the Affinity apps in this Affinity Spotlight article  (where you will find printable PDFs and also the Affinity Designer source files for English and German keyboards in case you want to include your own customized shortcuts).

Can I use the Affinity logo and name for my website/channel/product/service?
We really appreciate and encourage activities that support Affinity software so we're pretty fair about trademark usage, but naturally there are limitations. We want Affinity users to be confident about what content is created by Affinity and what is created by third parties, our guidelines in this short PDF (English only) make things quite clear.
