Hi there!

I am currently trying to use Affinity Publisher to mass-produce Diplomas at my institution.
I am able to create "pages" for each diploma using data merge, but can't figure how to export each page (Diploma) individually.
If this can be done - can each page be named? (For example using a Data Merge field)

I was hoping this issue was fixed in the retail version, but it is not. Updating a modified file in Resource Manager is not rescaling, but it is moving its position inside a picture frame.

I´ve just edited a photo and realized alot of red spots/leftovers from the red overlay after refining my selection. Is there any simple way to get rid off them? I haven´t found anything to this topic in the forum or web. I wasn´t able to remove them

Whenever I package a project and open it later on, the report tells no problems about modified images. Visiting the Resource Manager tells me, that the images are modified. When I update them, the position changes, the size remains correct.

I have notice with last two betas of Affinity Publisher 1.9.1 one problem rendering master pages.
That issue with MAS version 1.9.0 and same file doesn't happens.
When you zoom in and out the pages shows or hide any master page applied.

in my latest beta build (1.9.1.967) when i scale the page up, at ~ 300%, the master page content goes away.
No problems with export, or so.

Yes that content goes away, if i hide elements behind the master page content they reappear when zoomed in.
2021-02-21 19-20-30.mp4 I can reproduce that by creating a new document, put rectangle/text/images/... on the master page, apply that master page to an empty page.
Then scale that page up.

Turning off and on GPU acceleration doesn´t change that behavior.

I have an tablet connected with no screen (XP-Pen G640), my Win10 considers itself completely up to date.
cpu: 4790K gpu: GTX970 (Driver: 461.70) 32GB RAM

That issue doesn´t appear in the non-beta release.
And i added an example file which shows that error on my machine.

can someone else see that bug?
Or is there even a (new) setting which hides master page content when scaled up?^^

Unfortunately, closing the paragraph panel did not solve my issue (but it did provide a UI speed boost). The app still gets progressively slower the more it is used, after about an hour it gets to the point where doing anything takes multiple seconds. Saving the document and restarting the application makes the slowdown go away, and that's my temporary fix until a new version comes out.

Well, I have a solution.
go to %AppData%\Affinity\Publisher\ and rename the "1.0" to "1.0 old ver" and restart Publisher.
This is work for me.

Using .920 it seems to take a lot of clicking to get the focus on a style and then you have to double click, click again to apply the style. Then if you undo the focus remains on the previous style and clicking on the next style applies the previous style. I have a Nvidia GTX 1660 Super Graphics Card with openCL active. Tried it without openCL and still the same single click does not do anything in styles. I have to doouble click a style to get focus and then click again to apply

I can confirm this issue with the horrible performance after upgrading to 1.9. Also using an AMD Ryzen 3700X.
I can also confirm nodeus' workaround solving the - but I investigated further and found out that it is enough to delete/rename the file WindowProfile.xml in %AppData%\Affinity\Publisher\1.0\Workspaces\Publisher. So all other settings despite of the window positions will be kept. Hope this helps someone as long as the issue is not fixed by affinity.

If I group text frames that have been copy pasted from another document, it will increase the text font size by roughly 405%. 9pt text will increase to 37.5 for example. 48pt text goes up to 200pt.
The only work around is to create a new layer, group that layer with no content, then add all text frames to that group. Obvoiously not ideal when you need to group multiple text frames per page on a 300-400 page documen. As rather than select, then a single quick key, it becomes two quick keys, select, two more quick keys.
I have seen other posts on this problem, none of which seem to have a fix.

Is this a style or setting issue, or a bug?

It doesn't; that's why scale with object would be a better default setting in the software itself than not (as now). There is no way to add the setting to sublayers quickly if scaling for some reason is not activated.

I have experienced in both Designer and Publisher 1.9 that grouping objects sometimes changes the font size of the text. It does seem It does not seem to connected to the font, but maybe rather to some changes I have done to the font (scaling, size, color etc). I do not remember all the changes but here is a look at what happens. The left is ungrouped objects. The right is objects grouped - that is the only difference between the two sides.

This seems to happen when either of the text frames has previously been scaled with the bottom right text frame tool. I wonder if grouping reapplies the font size scaling a 2nd time.

When try to make a group with an image and a text box or 2 different text boxes, the text in the boxes loses all the format, such as size, leading, etc. The only solution I found is to convert a copy of the text into curves in order to make the group. Is annoying

When I group objects which includes text, it resizes all the text. How do I disable this auto-resize?

Publisher 1.9 upgrade - Grouping errors. Grouping text with an object causes the text field to change spacing settings. This error started to occur immediately after upgrading, and is a serious productivity problem.

Hi all, first time here. I need some support assistance. I'd love to know what's going on with my issue.
I have used Publisher several times to create documents for a project I'm working (currently using v703 on Win10 20H2) , but it appears to be behaving oddly now. The only significant change I have made since I last used Publisher was replacing my graphics card (nvidia 1070 upgraded to 3070), and updated the graphics driver (461.09). I have monitored my cpu (ryzen 5 3600) and gpu load, and neither are going above 20% under any conditions, but Publisher is becoming extremely sluggish. It's possible this is unrelated as I did not use Publisher for that many projects preceding this.
Publisher is taking 1800 MB of memory after having it open for 2-3 hours. Just having a simple 4 page spread with a text frame on each page (no heavy graphics - just a couple pages of text) and clicking in and out of frames can take over 5 seconds and causes the UI to update multiple times. The issue quickly re-occurs if the application is closed and reopened, whether or not the document is new or an existing document.
To be extra clear, I don't have any issues with typing or editing within a single frame, but working with multiple frames gets to be unacceptably slow, by a huge margin. Sometimes it takes 1/10th of a second to click out, other times up to 3-5 seconds. And clicking into a frame has the same kind of random disparity, but is much faster (like 1/20th of a second to 1/2 a second, but still noticeable and enough to cause mis-clicks). I noticed these UI changes cause my CPU and GPU usage to spike to 10-20% during that time, and the memory usage rapidly changes multiple times as well.
It also gets progressively worse the more times I click in and out of the frames. I noticed the memory usage also rapidly climbs while doing this. Just clicking in and out a few dozen times (representing about 3-5 minutes of work for me), the app is already taking over 700MB just to display one spread.
But here's the weird thing, sometimes it just doesn't happen. I have no idea what's causing this behavior to start or stop, but it happens during a single session.
Help! I just want to get a simple project out of the way and this is totally infuriating. I would rather not have to work not knowing if my input is causing it to get slower with every click.

I upgraded to 1.9.0 just now, and it freezes up after opening.  Cannot create a new document or anything...and I have to use control panel to close it...will not close at all.  Did not have this issue with Photo after upgrading to 1.9 as well...it works fine.

After the updates everything is extremely laggy and unresponsive.

Hi folks! I've been learning to use Affinity Designer for iPad, and have some questions about the Pencil tool that I haven't been able to answer yet. I'm coming from years using Ai on Mac desktop, so I'm not familiar yet with the desktop version of AD. The questions are:
1. Is there a way to get paths drawn with the pencil tool to close automatically? I find I can never go back to the original node, and always have to close the path using the context menu at the bottom. Or a way of snapping back to the start node?
2. Is there a tool for erasing parts of vector paths? So, once a path is drawn, using an eraser tool to reshape parts of it?

While using the Pencil Tool in AD for iPad, is there a way to change a setting to automatically close a path, where the nodes of end and beginning of the that path join. Or will I have to switch to Node Tool and close each of them manually?

You can create a path as you would with the pen tool, except instead, once you're done using the pencil, you have the "close curve" option.
To see the close curve option, you need a curve clicked while on the node tool (shortcut key "A").
There's 5 options available in the "Action" section:
Break curve Close curve Smooth curve Join curve Reverse curve Close curve should give you what you want.

I've searched the forum but it seems that these features have yet to be implemented.
So here I am asking whether they are possible and I am just missing something:
 
I'm talking about the Pencil Tool in Affinity Designer.
 
1. Is it possible to automatically close a path after you have drawn a...circle...let's say? So basically I'm asking AD to snap to closing the path for the Pencil tool.
 
2. When I use the pencil tool and stop drawing with my tablet there's a problem resuming the shape that i've already created. You just simply cannot continue the path.
