befehr
While using the Pencil Tool in AD for iPad, is there a way to change a setting to automatically close a path, where the nodes of end and beginning of the that path join. Or will I have to switch to Node Tool and close each of them manually? nodeus
Staff Gabe Posted July 18, 2018 Staff Share Posted July 18, 2018 Hi @befehr, You cannot auto-close a path while using the pen tool. You would have to manually close it using the node tool as you've already discovered Thanks, Gabe.

You have to mannually select 2 node then click on a button to just close the path. Why won’t they just create one button to Close path? Bryan Rieger
Or close the path automatically when the first and last points in a path are within a given threshold, with the last point being merged with the first, and matching the existing curve. walt.farrell
This topic is a bit confusing because the title and first post discusses using the Pencil Tool, but then Gabe answered about the Pen Tool. But the answer also applies to the Pencil Tool. In V1, in Designer on iPad, the Pencil Tool does not have an auto-close function. In V2, it does have an auto-close function, that will automatically close the curve when you stop drawing. However, it does not have the threshold and auto-merge functions that @Bryan Rieger has wished for.
