ashf reacted to kenmcd in Another Font problem on Ventura?
Hiragino Kaku Gothic is another "Document support font" - which do not appear to work in Affinity applications on macOS Ventura.
Fonts included with macOS Ventura - see Document-support fonts about half way down the page - https://support.apple.com/en-asia/HT213266

Slider knob is hard to see with the Light UI.

ashf got a reaction from loukash in PDF software with Colour Separation
FYI
It seems that Qoppa does not recognize the spot colors on the color separation preview.

Hi @ashf,
This issue is currently logged with the developers, I've bumped the issue with your report.

ashf reacted to loukash in PDF software with Colour Separation
Thanks, yeah, I've seen the video.
There are no separate "pro" versions available as trial:
qoppa.com/pdfstudio/versions
The trial has a bunch of buttons marked in red as "PRO".
Well, it's not necessarily an issue anyway. I still got my Acrobat Pro X on El Capitan.
Later I'll check out the new 2022 trial on Catalina if there's a difference.

ashf reacted to v_kyr in List of some third party vectorization & tracing tools
It has vectorization/tracing capabilities since some recent version time now, but initially it didn‘t had. Offering backwards support until El Capitan is valuable and something I personally would vote as a plus here!
Though on the other side in order for just tracing bitmap/raster images, there are other much cheaper commercial and also a bunch of quite good freeware tracing tools available.
Thus I won‘t place VS directly to the above list, since otherwise would have to add Illustrator & CorelDraw etc. too there then, since all or most of those vector graphics tools have and offer the one or other tracing facilities.
My personal most used tracer (beside my own coded tracing tool) is not VS but instead SV … 😉

Good catch. And JPEG XL also seems to be missing in the Export Persona.

You just need to click the field then press the up/down key.

ashf reacted to Armelline in Feature Request: Crop to Selection
Would love to see Crop to Selection (i.e. whatever is surrounded by the marquee tool) added in a future update. Was very disappointed to hear it did not make it into the V2 release. I'm speaking primarily about Photo as that's the one I need it for, but I assume others would get benefit in the other apps too.
Please note this is an entirely separate discussion to the one regarding V1. There's an entirely separate forum for V2 so I'm assuming feedback related to V1 isn't applicable to V2 and thus this thread is needed.

ashf reacted to danberlyoung in Very Small Bitmaps (8 bit style icons) Scaling Up without blurring
I found a solution. I was placing the image as a .afphoto document. When I exported it to a .png or a .jpg and then placed it again, it displayed hard edged. .PSD, .EPS, .PDF and .afphoto documents all display blurry.

ashf got a reaction from loukash in collision detection / common tangents for snapping
Would be nice if you could add the collision detection / the common tangents option for the snapping.
So snapping non-polygon objects will be easier.

ashf reacted to big smile in Feature Request: Add "revert" to file menu command for all Affinity apps
A small one but very useful!
Please consider adding a revert option to the file menu command in all Affinity apps.
The user can click on revert to re-open the file and discard all changes since the last save. Yes, there are other ways of doing this, but a file menu option is super handy!

Always wondered what that thing in the centre of objects was for? (in Adobe too) Cheers!

ashf got a reaction from awakenedbyowls in Flip/Rotate across/around Selected Anchor Point?
You can use the Transform Origin.
https://affinity.help/designer2/en-US.lproj/pages/Tools/tools_move.html
Though for flipping it, you have to use the mouse.
(You resize the object toward negative direction)
Or vote for this for easier flipping.

ashf reacted to Dennison in Affinity Publisher - Japanese font not displaying correctly
In case any one else has the same problem.
The procedure that is currently working:
1) open docx in Pages - export file to Plain Text
2) open this new Plain Document in TextEdit app
3) copy and paste into AfPub using Paste Without Format

ashf reacted to herhey in AMD Radeon GPU OpenCL poor perfomance
I'm not sure but I also use Photoshop with hardware acceleration turned on and is much much faster than AF on every single task.

ashf reacted to Dan C in AMD Radeon GPU OpenCL poor perfomance
Hi,
This is unfortunately down to poor support for OpenCL on ATI cards, not just with our software.
There's unfortunately nothing we can do to improve their card's performance.

ashf reacted to thomaso in Stop Affinity From Auto-Zooming to Fill Screen When Resize?
The lack of an option to deactivate the auto-zoom function also feels strange, as the auto-scroll feature provides the user with two UI items, while the app preference (> interface) always seems to be overridden by the Layer Panel setting and thus appears useless and superfluous.
Maybe one of the two interfaces was initially – "by concept", not "by design" – meant to be coded as the missing option to disable auto-zoom?

ashf reacted to NotMyFault in moire removal using live bandpass mask (Photo, iPad and Desktop)
After some more photos, some more hints:
I forgot to mention you should activate "linear" in bandpass filter It really depends on the photo which adjustment filters work best to align darker / lighter areas. HSL or curves are good candidates. You must check if you brighten the darker areas, or darken the brighter areas. You may need to use "invert" of bandpass mask.
Sometimes try both, often one looks better. Remove the unneeded. A bit of noise helps to blend in the result with the image In some cases, you need to add another curve to adjust total lightness (using the same mask) The method does not work at the physical edged of an image. If required, extend the image first by a suitable method (resize canvas, then clone, copy, inpaint the new area to achieve an area with similar pattern / colors).
