Pšenda reacted to Lorox in Reference object for alignment in v 2.4 – am I getting something wrong?
Ah, look here! I actually didn't remember clearly that it had been different with v1 than it is with v2, but that's possibly the reason why I felt so irritated when the dropdown was greyed out as long as I din't make the actual choice of what alignment I was going to do...
Anyway, I actually do understand both lines of thought leading to greying the dropdown out or not – maybe eventually it's just the way you're "wired" personally which lets you prefer one or the other.
That being said, once you know what order of actions you have to take, it is in fact very easy to see if you’re getting what you want as the live preview immediately kicks in and you can always choose another operation or just opt out if it isn't at all what you wanted.

    @Pšenda:
Yeah, I guess you're right, when I give it a second thought. Sometimes you're just so focussed on what you want to do at a specific occasion or in a specific place that you don't really think about what another user would possibly want to do actually using basically the same part of the interface where you sort of expect just your options to display. Maybe it's human nature to be a bit shortcircuited at times... But yes, you really cannot blame the Afffinity guys here!

I interpret "regular updates" more like "several updates per year", which has been a consistent pattern for years now.

I bought PixelMator Pro, and I am finding myself not using Affinity Photo at all. I won't be buying the next version and to be honest I doubt there will be a next version anytime soon. There's not even regular updates anymore...

Thanks for raising this - I absolutely agree and I'm logging this with our documentation team now.
Secondly, I am raising that the 'Toolbar' page does not indicate how to enable/disable the Toolbar, however the 'Customising the Toolbar' page does.
Finally, the 'Customising the Workspace' page covers how to show/hide Studios, but not the Context or regular Toolbar.
    I hope this helps

I think it is a mistake of the Help that this information is not explicitly stated in it. For example, in the link to the Context Toolbar, where there is a description of what it is, it should also be indicated how it can be turned on/off.

Every modern desktop browser, certainly, but what about phones and tablets? On my iPad I have to use a niche browser such as iCab Mobile just to view the page source without jumping through several hoops.

Since it is activated only once, or permanently within one job (opening a document, Alt+click), it would be appropriate to set it to "always" in the preferences. So whenever I create or open a new document, the Behind option is already selected.

Sorry, but I really don't understand arguments of this type - why Serif should be broken control logic for all existing users (and indeed there are quite a few) to ease the transition of several users from Photoshop! How about changing the name of APhoto to Photostore so that these users don't have to get used to a brand new app name?

Not sure that there is really a case for this as the rotation of the wheel is somewhat arbitrary and varies wildly among different products.

Here is what the wheels look like in Davinci Resolve which is one of the more typical tools used for color grading video:

Here is the wheel in the Apple color picker, with yellow a bit to the right of the top - note that the colors go in the same direction as Resolve and the opposite direction from the Affinity products (the Affinity products go purple-red-orange-yellow clockwise, these go counter-clockwise):

Capture One is organized like the Apple color picker:

    So is GIMP:

Corel Painter - note that this one places yellow in roughly the same place as does the Apple Color Picker, GIMP, and various others, but the colors run in the opposite direction, as they do in the Affinity products:

With the wide variety of orientations that are used, no matter what the Affinity products decide on, they are going to be different for *someone* who goes back and forth between them and some other relevant product, so there is not really any point in trying to sync it to anything in particular.

So it can be seen - that providing the right link to a specific Help page is not exactly an easy matter.
It would certainly be advisable to do it a little simpler - hopefully we will see a change 🙂

That explains a few things, Firefox on macOS doesn't contain the 'Copy Link' unlike Chrome and Safari and of course my default browser is Firefox...

Just for information - you probably copied the link to Help from the address bar of the browser (a classic mistake :-), so it points to the index, not to a specific page about Snapping. You need to use "Copy link..." at the bottom left.

In the case of a general image source - for example PrintScreen, it's fine (at least on Win), but if the copy is done from Affinity, it's a real shame that it's not including the DPI value.
