I guess a lot of users are sick of  "disable HW acceleration (since Serif still can´t get it to work properly on non-MacOS-Devices..)".

In the "Tone Mapping" Persona:
at none of the sliders the "double click to reset" feature does work - it does work in other personas.

Thanks for the nice idea; tried it - but did not succeed. (perhaps my fault..)

In general I really think that there should be such a language selector in the "new Document"-Window.
Imagine a graphics artist doing a Client-Job in a foreign language.

Defaulting to the language-settings of the computer where to software is running is convenient, but wrong.
Just think of countries with more than one official language .
(Switzerland, Malta, Spain, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Finland, Greenland, Canada, South Africa, USA ?, Cyprus...)

Hi,

As I already explained in an earlier posting...
... Affinity Software does not recognize Systems-Settings "Austrian-German" as German and therefore sets the spellchecking-language to "unknown".
I asked Serif to map all variants of "german" (Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Luxemburg) to Germany-german as a workaround.

Perhaps it´s a better approach, to add a language selector to the "new document"-Window.

It´s not good usability to tell the user to do a work-around.
Good Usability is: "it works as expected".

No, not the User has to act - we may expect software to be smart.
one of the rules of usability is:  Don´t make me think.
I posted several hints for usability improvements during the recent years(?) - they did not even care.
Affinity-Users are usually not typical professionals - those are tied to Adobe (for several good reasons).
Affinity needs to accept: their audience are the amateurs and semi-pro - Users.

Die Affinity-Produkte sind voll mit Usability-Fehlern. Der Hersteller weigert sich diese zu beheben.
Ebenso wie Basis-Funktionen nicht repariert oder eingebaut werden. (korrekte Lineale in 10er Unterteilungen? variable Fonts? etc..)
Der Vorschlag von @Andreas CH vergrößert ALLES auf deiner Windows-Oberfläche und ist somit nur dann ratsam wenn du auch in anderen Programmen das Problem von zu kleiner Schrift hast.
Den meisten Postings hier zufolge ist das aber überlicherweise nicht der Fall, sondern nur die Affinity-Produkte haben zu kleine Interface-Elemente und -Schriften.
Da dieses Problem auf der von Serif bevorzugten Plattform (Apple) nicht auftritt, hat Serif wohl kein Interesse oder keine Manpower (oder beides?) um das Problem zu lösen.

The Affinity products are full of usability errors. The manufacturer refuses to fix them.
Just as basic functions are not repaired or implemented. (correct rulers in subdivisions of 10? variable fonts? etc..)
The suggestion from @Andreas CH enlarges EVERYTHING on your Windows interface and is therefore only advisable if you also have the problem of too small fonts in other programs.
According to most postings here, however, this is usually not the case, but only the Affinity products have interface elements and fonts that are too small.
Since this problem does not occur on Serif's preferred platform (Apple), Serif probably has no interest or manpower (or both?) to solve the problem.

I agree with you in general, but in this case we are talking about a tiny change that was requested 4 years ago.
And all those postings to the old thread (which is 4 pages long in the meantime) did not help...

For a short time I was tempted to purchase the upgrade from 1.x to 2.1. but having seen all those complaints about very very basic features being broken or still missing completely: nope, sorry.
I am not asking for AI-stuff but basics like variable fonts support or an option to set the color of every guide - perhaps even an algorithm that automatically finds a color that differs from all/most colors the guide crosses on the screen..?
Actually I am not asking for any new features but having the UI completely redesigned to meet state of the art usability requirements.
But as it seems, the Brits will prefer to add some more "nobody asked for"-filters.

Will Serif ever learn about usability?

Office 365 is more or less the same as Office 2019.
(which is not fully true since Office 365 receives new features every now and then.. recently they added a writing-style-optimizer etc..)
Office 2016 and older are different products with a different feature set.

we discuss incompatibility from V(n) to V(n+1).
Office 2007 is 3 or 4  Releases ago (2010, 2013, 2016, 2019) since we are now at Office 2021.

The fact, that users specifically complain about the GUI-size of the Affinity-Applications and not about the GUIs of all applications on their setup in general makes clear: Solely and only the Affinity-GUIs are too small.
Therefore: telling the user to re-scale the whole Operating System - Interface just to make one Application less hard to use is inappropriate.
Perhaps Serif is overwhelmed by their success and now suffers from the same lack of IT-staff as all of Europe does.
(probably even worsened by the Brexit..)

Having to do something different to achieve the same result is a sign of bad usability.

Please don´t get me wrong: it´s not purely about the money: for me it´s mainly about the fact that paying expresses appreciation and recognition of the work of Serif which (to me) mainly consists of ignoring user-requests. Esp. since none of the updates addresses the complaints/suggestions we all know from this forum..
(Variable fonts? improved UI?, improved UX? Image-Browser? etc. etc.)

General answer from an enterprise point of view:

- Windows 1x Enterprise = all Group Policies available, most of all: disable and hide the MS AppStore
- central management and deployment of all Software (OS-updates, Applications, drivers..) via Tools like SCCM etc.
- no local Admin-Rights
- special requirements for license assignment and tracking since the licenses may be revoked during a license harvesting process.
 

well, I was in doubt whether to upgrade all 3 applications or not .. but the more details arise, the less I am attracted to purchase the update/upgrade.
- "strange" application types that break my data-structure (drive 1 for the OS, drive 2 for applications, drive 3 for data)
(MY computer, I decide where to install applications - not those ***** of Microsoft, NO Apps from the MS App-store)
- none of the promoted features addresses my issues (mostly Usability-flaws, which still isn´t something Serif does care about, as is seems..)
- new features are too sophisticated for my use-cases.
- even the Demo-Version requires registration?

I wonder if the basics have been fixed...
Variable fonts? (nope.)
improved usability of the straighten tool?  (click+hold-draaaaaaag-release  is stupid)
did the mesh warp and perspective tools get additional handles which are accessible when zoomed into the image?
is save/save as finally capable to cover the function of the export-menu?
is the GUI finally scalable? (nope, still too tiny)
are ALL interface elements finally mouse-over sensitve? (change color when pointer hovers above)
Have the keyboard-shortcuts for non-english application-language settings finally been adjusted to combos that are easy to reach on such a non-englisch keyboard-layout? 
(e.g. these [  ] require ALTGR-8 or 9 on a german keyboard but are the default-settings for several actions...)
are locked layers finally really protected from ANY change? (locked means locked/protected)
Is it still possible to select tools even if the document contains no layers?
are those notification pop-Ups finally moveable?(or are they still somewhere in the upper right area, colored similar to the background to make them harder to see?)
Does Photo-develop Persona still tell me "please use the cancel-button" when closing the window instead of handling this window-close-event the same way as the cancel button by showing an "are u sure" window...?
Can the e.g. curves adjustment window be resized? (made bigger, for more detailed adjustments)

Hi all. Thanks for your patience over the weekend when our offices were closed.
We've had a meeting this morning and decided to ALSO offer MSI installers, to those people who would like them. I can't tell you when this will happen, as there is engineering work that will be required to allow this to happen, but we hope it won't be long.
