Sounds more like a "Goodbye" message rather than an optimistic one or rather like a ransom video of a kidnapped victim that tries to assure the family that everything is OK so please send the ransom money.
He looks more disappointed than us by this "joint operation".

Affinity has some of the best software, with Apple-like quality. It's unfortunate to see it go for Canva, one of the worst pointless companies on this planet. So sad!

For what, for a bit more money in someone's bank account? You won't be able to buy happiness with that mate

Not sure if best to post here or create a new bug report on the release forum, but I've noticed two issues with the set selection command:
The shortcut "CMD + ." exits full screen mode when nothing is selected (or when the set selection option is not available on a selected group/layer). I am unable to set selection on a group of grouped curves. In the video, I have already set the child groups' default selection box, but I've also tested without having set their selection boxes, and the behaviour is still the same. Below video shows both issues in action on release build 2.4.0 on MacOS. Not been able to test on Windows or iPad yet.

Very poor UX decisions. I hope you don't continue on this path like Adobe, who forces outrageously complicated workflow workarounds, frustrating users for years.

I fully support returning to previous behavior in the alignment panel when the "Align to" wasn't greyed out and we where able to select it first and then apply the aligment.
Serif please bring back the old behavior 🙏🙏🙏
Why did you guys change it to something illogical and unintuitive.

Using AD v2.2 which still has the same nonsense behavior. It makes no UX sense to have an option grayed out until you press another button, in this case an alignment button.
Also, the Apply/Cancel is very counter-intuitive from a user experience to see it in a drop-down menu. This should either be a modal with Apply/Cancel or an alignment options panel without these action buttons.
At least give us the options to change this behavior, but I can't imagine why anyone would be happy with the current workflow.

big plus one to all this. I'm using V2.0.4, (currently the latest version)
Please can we simply just have the 'Align to' options non-greyed and available at all times? Not a major code edit.
Yes, it makes sense to remember the last used settings, but it also makes sense for a user to be able to change those parameters from the get go instead of having to perform an alignment action you don't want in order to unlock the panel. It's illogical and counter intuitive.
It's kind of like an 80s computer game: perform a task, unlock the door!

Cristian Dragos got a reaction from Megnusin in Selecting inside nested groups
But is there a way of directly selecting a group inside a group without double clicking the first group or without using the Layers panel?
I use nested groups in groups a lot since I need the elements to stay together and when I have to drill down through the groups one extra click can select something else and I have to do it all over again which is very frustrating.
The solution would be either to have a true isolation mode a la Illustrator or have a way to select a specific group with key combination. I would suggest something like this:
    1. Cmd/Ctrl + Click to select and object inside the group.
    2. Alt + Click the same object to select the first tier group of which the object is part of, then Alt + Click again to select the upper tier group and so on.
This should be also pretty useful for nested groups/objects inside other objects.
    What do you think?

@DM1The fanboyism on this forum is mind-blowing! I haven't come here to argue with people and I don't understand why comment at all if there's no value in your comment. There's already such a feature request several years old, but again, Serif knows what's better for the user just like when they removed the delete button from the v2 app and were forced to bring back by the pressure of the users.
@Paul Mudditt I'm using AD to work on UI so the export dialog is useless to me when I have hundreds of artboards which some need to be exported in several dimensions. Maybe most iPad users would use the export persona more often if it would be on par with the desktop version. I don't think I'm requesting something impossible here.

My friend… I appreciate you reply but have you actual read my post? I know where the bloody Export persona is. The problem is that the bloody Export persona on the iPad is a piss in the ocean compared to the desktop app and I don’t understand why since the iPad is more than capable of handling this.
And when I do have the custom export settings from the desktop app, I get this notice in the Export persona on the iPad “*This slice has additional custom export options est on it, editing will remove these custom options”. So yeah, am I missing something here?

It's sad that a real observation about a design flaw triggers some people's affiliation to a certain app. Let's pretend that you are right, and it's perfectly designed with a target audience in particular. What happens if the new user, a never experienced in Affinity ecosystem designer coming from maybe Pixelmator find that in the settings. Obviously, will start looking for a way to create art boards. Frustrated will be here looking for answers and someone here tells him that is there for marketing reasons and if he buys Designer he will be able to create those art boards. Do you really think that will make him happy?  As a UI/UX designer under Sketch software, working for agencies more than 20+ years, it is in my opinion (one that should be respected because has not been said to insult anybody here) a flaw in graphic user and experience design. Why? It's not directly related with the app functionality. Primary rule of UI/UX.
Hope you can understand my point.

Cristian Dragos reacted to 4dimage in Color Swatches Panel - renaming global color does not update name in listview
OS: Windows 10 Pro for Workstations
    Version: 22H2
    Build: 19045.2251
    Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0
This bug applies similiar to all three Products (Designer, Publisher, Photo) Version 2.0.0

    Reason
I added a document color palette and tried to add some global colors to this palette. I always do this via contextmenu on a selected element. So the element is selected during the whole process described here. The viewmode in the color swatches panel ist set to "list".

    Bug
The global color was added with a automated name e.g. "Globale Farbe 1". After renaming my global color to a custom name "blau" via contextmenu "Globale Farbe umbenennen" (-> OK), the inital Name stil is visible in the color palette listview. Only in the color panel the new color name "blau" is now visible (new global color is applied on the selected element).
Furthermore if i do "Globale Farbe umbenennen" for the second time, the modal input stil shows the inital color name. If i change it to the same custom name "blau" -> OK, i get a warning popup, that this name can't be applied because of a duplicate. So internally the global color seems to be renamed with the first attempt. But the dialog does not sync to this change.

Here is the whole process step by step
Fresh document, initial layout. A simple rectangle with color set via color panel rulers.

Add custom document color palette "test" to the document and switch to this palette

Raise contextmenu on selected elment and add global color from selected object. The global color appears in list with default automated Name "Globale Farbe 1"

Rename the global color via contextmenu in palette list. Change name to "blau" -> OK. The new name does not change in the list of global colors but only in the color panel. global color was automatically applied to selected element, so this is the expected behaviour there. But the new name has also to change in the listview of the spot color panel.

Try to rename the list entry via contextmenu. The modal stil shows the inital color name.

Try to change this to "blau" for the second time -> warning pops up, that this name is already in use.

It seems the new name "blau" had already been set internally from the first attempt.

To have the new interal name "blau" shown up in the listview you have eiter to:
    - save the document, close and reopen it
    or
    - close the color swatches panel and reopen it (via main menu)
The same missvehavoir applies to the color panel, if the "wrong" color name "Globale Farbe 1" is maintained on the selected object. After switching element color and reapply "Globale Farbe 1" from the listview this wrong name now also shows up in the color panel. To show the internal "real" global color name "blau" you also have to close and reopen the color panel.

@all: I would have really liked to work with the new version. Too bad version 2 is more of a quiet plop than a loud bang. In the last 2 days I felt more like an alpha or beta tester than a customer 'testing' a new version of a software...
