Cristian Dragos Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 I’m trying to jump from my desktop AD v2 to the iPad version and while most of the functionality is there, I’m missing a crucial part which is the advanced export settings in the Export Persona. Is there a way to activate those on the iPad as well? Also, why are they missing in the first place? I was hoping this would not be a problem in v2 but I was wrong. Does anyone know anything about this matter? Thanks! UPDATE The problem is that the bloody Export persona on the iPad is a piss in the ocean compared to the desktop app and I don’t understand why since the iPad is more than capable of handling this. You can’t even set a custom size for the image you’re exporting which is nuts! And when I do have the custom export settings from the desktop app, I get this notice in the Export persona on the iPad “*This slice has additional custom export options est on it, editing will remove these custom options”. So yeah, am I missing something here? Quote Check out my awesome Affinity Creations!
Alfred Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Tap on the Designer icon (top left) to display the Persona menu. In the Export persona, tap on the the ellipsis (‘…’) or the ‘hamburger’ icon for further options. It’s true that the iPads app features are lacking in several areas, but show me an alternative iPad app that can do everything, and that is in the same price range. At least the iPad honours those extra settings made in desktop file versions. Instead of complaining about the shortcomings of the Export Persona on iPad (compared to desktop), perhaps you could make a feature request to have the desired additional settings added to those currently available on iPad. That would be more productive in the long run. 🙂 Paul Mudditt 1 Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). Paul Mudditt Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 Yes the export persona on iPad is not as sophisticated as the desktop export persona. Most people on iPad tend to se the Document Export options instead which allows output resizing. EDIT: Still no positive confirmation of what the op was looking for, the export persona appears to have >90% of the desktop so it would have been nice to know the specific requirement that was missing to help the devs rather than a rant at people trying to help but hey ho. Cristian Dragos Posted February 6, 2023 Author Posted February 6, 2023 @DM1The fanboyism on this forum is mind-blowing! I haven't come here to argue with people and I don't understand why comment at all if there's no value in your comment. There's already such a feature request several years old, but again, Serif knows what's better for the user just like when they removed the delete button from the v2 app and were forced to bring back by the pressure of the users. @Paul Mudditt I'm using AD to work on UI so the export dialog is useless to me when I have hundreds of artboards which some need to be exported in several dimensions. Maybe most iPad users would use the export persona more often if it would be on par with the desktop version. I don't think I'm requesting something impossible here. It is well known that the iPad apps lack some functionality of the desktop apps. On the other hand, they are also significantly less expensive, costing approximately 30% as much currently in the US. If you want all the same functionality, you may need to use the more expensive product. However, if you want to request an improvement to Designer 2 on the iPad, feel free to create a new topic (or agree with an existing one) in Feedback for the Affinity V2 Suite of Products, where Serif's planners look for such suggestions.
