FWIW, in the U.S. "Kentucky Fried Colonel" is a commonly used slang term for Harland Sanders of KFC fame. He was awarded the honorific title "Kentucky Colonel" in the 1930's by the governor of Kentucky. It is not a military rank.

Except that it has not done so for a lot of folks posting to this discussion.

Same here in N. Texas; probably so overcast that we won't be able to see much of anything except a dark sky.

It seems that English is not your native language. Could you possibly post without translation? This may make your posts easier to understand.

Why would Canva abandon the Affinity brand name?

I found it interesting that it said its last training cut-off date was in 2021, implying that there may (or may not!) be more data gathering & training done in the future to improve its results.
But much more interesting to me was it said it does not create original artwork (that word again). That makes me wonder how it would reply if you asked it who (or what?) is the originator of the images it produces.

I can't see why. Canva is replacing Serif, not Affinity. Affinity is not the company name, but the suite's.

FWIW, on my Mac I have not had any crashes related to using any of the color pickers in any of the Affinity apps, V1 or V2.

The West has been brainwashed for decades over just about everything by Hollywood, the media, governments and big multinational corporations so there is likely to be some truth in references to psychology and the CANVA takeover.

I'm curious about this since a while... So... I'm going to finally make the question.
If you are so disappointed with the Affinity software, the team, the buyout, Canva, the community... Why not just using a suite, or separate tools from different vendors (there are a few options now, luckily it's not as spartan as we had it the 90s anymore) that you consider actually professional and a better fit ? As you would probably be happier taking that route and saving your personal time and energy, as well.

I promise! It is just curiosity. As, me, when I don't like a software because I think it's lacking key stuff and/or I just absolutely dislike it, I do the practical thing and leave it alone, to move to a solution that suits me better. I've seen some people in this same situation, through the years and in a few communities, with different tools. And it keeps me wondering...

From a very quick perusal of the Canva site, it would seem they support many different RTL languages, so it is possible this will help with adding RTL support to Affinity.
I guess time will tell ....

Why would an AI have to feel anything or be self aware to create art (good or bad by whatever standards one wants to use to judge that, objective or subjective) for that work to evoke strong emotional responses in humans that view it?
Try a Google search on something like "examples of AI-generated art." Among the hits are items like this one about 'mind blowing' examples. I don't know about what others feel but for me some of them do evoke strong emotions in me very much like those I feel when viewing human-created artwork of similar subject matter.
A bit off topic but my Google search turned up a lot of interesting stuff, one of which is this "Timeline of AI Art." While none of it directly addresses if AI's can or ever will be able to feel in the same sense that humans can, much of it suggests that is not necessary for them to create artwork that evokes strong feelings in humans.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.
There is no automatic upgrade to 2.4.2, unless you're using the Beta version of the program, as 2.4.1 is the latest retail release.
It sounds like you may have installed originally via the Microsoft Store. You cannot have both the Microsoft Store version and the MSIX version from the Affinity Store installed.

If OneDrive is managing your Desktop folder, it might be the known OneDrive issue that Affinity thumbnails don't show.

This afternoon I decided to do a first test of whether AI copies.
There is a famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci of a lady with an ermine.
Lady with an Ermine - Wikipedia
I tried Bing Chat AI with the following prompt.
Please produce an original painting in the style of Leonardo da Vinci of a lady with an ermine.
Four pictures were produced, none like the one by Leonardo da Vinci.

My conjecture presumes that the training of the AI included the works of Leonardo da Vinci.

As it stands the only interaction with other On1 users is the On1PhotoRAW users facebook group, and the access provided by On1Plus. The user to user forum was quite low traffic and a lot of days I wouldnt look there. I am keeping tabs on AffinityPhoto and if an "open in" or "send to______ after export" is offered  I will upgrade to V2. At present I have to save as a PSP and overwrite the imported file. I do want to learn how to get the most out of Photo.

As you've mentioned this is not a definitive timescale, but rest assured we're working to bring this feature to Affinity V2, ASAP

Hypothetically, if it were humans who wanted to train themselves to create better work & they did so by studying the work of other artists, should the studied artists get compensated for that, & if so, how?
I think this is just one of the several issues that complicate if or how AI generated content can be regulated.
