Artsketch got a reaction from jdeezee in Old V1 users being asked to pay EXACTLY the same for V2 new users? NOT COOL.
The simplest solution would have been to add an IN APP button for discounted purchase of the new features to V1. New customers would have been able to buy the apps at the new price. Just like others do, despite app stores. Instead of disappointing some loyal customers, or even making them enemies. Unwise marketing.

For the professional creative design community, Linux is not significant, neither Windows. Apple is still the choice, if money doesn't matters. After the 90s Windows becomes more popular, because better availibility of pirated illegal creative software.

Looks so. It was foreseeable that the 40% will be extended. Perhaps even permanently. Usual marketing strategy.

    Status: Beta
    Purpose: Fixes and updates
Requirements: Licensed Affinity Designer 2 for iPad (registered to an Affinity ID account)
    App Store: Not Submitted
    TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/g1ygf6P7

We are pleased to announce that the first Affinity Designer 2 for iPad Customer Beta 2.0.3.1 is now available.
This beta is an update to the 2.0.0 version recently released to all customers and will form the basis of our first patch. We recommend that you use this beta in preference to the release version if you are affected by any of the issues listed below.
If this is your first time using a customer beta of an Affinity app, it’s worth noting that the beta will install as a separate app - alongside your store version. They will not interfere with each other at all and you can continue to use the store version for critical work without worry.

This is the feedback section, not the support section. No company can improve without criticism. It is about the promise of a paid V2 upgrade that has not been met. About trust and loyalty. And something big, besides a big cash flow. Serif doesn't need a base of yes men like you. Would an asymmetrical war against Affinity V2 by betrayed or disappointed customers be better on other platforms? Without the opportunity to respond and explain themselves? Gaining back trust is expensive.

It depends on how long Affinity Photo V2 will be usable. I can get the Photoshop & Lightroom subscription with 20 GB cloud storage for under €80 per year for the last few years. Compared to that, Affinity Photo still lacks many important features. The big V2 cash flow can either result in higher productivity or laziness.

Err yes is does actually - you get most of the hover features on desktop when using the new iPads with Apple Hover. e.g. nozzle preview, get snapping / construction points before you pen down, etc. It's actually very cool!

Hi All - again I appreciate all the feedback on this, I can assure you it’s all been listened to. However, this seems to be digressing quite a lot and we will now lock this thread. I’m going to post a fresh post with my original statement in announcements (this one will be moved into the question forum). This will allow me to post any further updates about this on a clean post, particularly when we have the free content pack for V1 upgraders available 👍
    Thanks again,
    Ash

Artsketch reacted to MoonaticDestiny in I prefer AD v1 over AD V2 for iPad
I just wanted to say that I love AD v1 more for iPad than AD v2. And you know what? I hated v1. I have been raging in the v1 forums for the past couple of months for the serif team to fix some design issues with v1 but now Ive grown to love it. I open AD v1 up and I get so…….happy. Theres a happy feeling in me. Which is weird because I despised v1 months ago. Like, theres now a grateful feeling in me. A grateful feeling that v1 exists. That it wasn’t replaced/upgraded by v2. Im happy they are 2 separate apps because I don’t have stick with v2. I can remember that v1 exists and I can go back to it.
I go back to v1 and my middle blue line layer clipping mask drop zone is there. This little blue middle line in the drop zone of the layers is why I prefer the ipad app over the desktop app. This middle blue line in the layers is  awesome! The gray/blue tool icons are there. Those icon are beautiful. So beautiful. Its like a gray and light gray color with an accent blue to go with the blue theme of affinity designer. Theyre beautiful. My goodness! I can’t get over them.  I don’t have go into v2 and see the “game boy” style icons. The eraser tool in the pixel person in AD v2 is literally a dr Mario pill. The lasso tool is literally Woody’s lasso from Toy Story and the purple star wand is literally a Wizards wand. Its a gameboy-ie style. It doesnt go with affinitys dark gray sleek theme. I don’t like the style they’re in. I love the gray/blue icons in v1. My buttons in v1 are not active. They’re all turned off. V2s buttons are all turned on. The context toolbar! Ugh. Im so happy its at the bottom in v1. I don’t like it at the top in AD v2. A custom toolbar should have been at the top in v2. Not the context toolbar. Im so happy the context toolbar is at the bottom in v1. I can go back to it. Im so happy they’re not sliders on the left side of the interface like in v2. In v1, theres no command controller that doesnt turn on all the time when you open Designer. Theres a delete button in v1! In v1, I don’t have to see the object type icons in the layers. You can’t turn that off in AD v2 for iPad.
Again, nothing really changed in v2 from v1. Nothing was dramatically new.  Yeah, new features were introduced but I didn’t need those features anyway. I cared more about design issues in the app than new features. We need to fix those design issues to have a functioning app. Not much changed…….nothing changed. Im honestly……..giggling………giggling because nothing changed and this is what we got in 4 years. AD v2 for ipad is just AD v1 with several active buttons turned on with a context tool bar at the top that shouldn’t be there thats been split into sliders on the left side of the interface. Thats all AD v2 is.
The only thing good "design wise" about AD v2 for ipad was the new quick menu and pulling things out from the edit menu and placing them at the top for easier access. Which should have been the custom toolbar. These are great starting design solutions the app needed.
I still bought the v2 app to support serif, and I wanted to see what was new in v2.

Our sincerest apologies for the delayed response here @Artsketch, as we have been incredibly busy following the launch of V2!
I'm not certain of Apples policy here, however as I understand it the V1 Affinity apps should be available in the 'Purchases' section of your App Store account for the foreseeable future, as although they are no longer available to purchase, I do not believe we are planning to remove them from our developer account any time soon and therefore they should remain available.
Our team has confirmed that "While V1 will no longer receive any feature updates, we will endeavour to fix any critical issues which may be caused by operating system updates for as long as is reasonable to do so." - however this will only apply to the supported OS's for the latest V1 update (1.10.5) and I do not expect we will be updating V1 to support newer OS versions that are released in the future, my apologies.
