I trialled a beta version, but it had no provision for importing Word footnotes/endnotes or index tags. As a book publisher that was a major letdown for me. Would be interested to hear if those issues have since been remedied, as I will not invest in the product without those facilities.

Hi, TommyJ.   Nice to meet you and welcome to the forums.  It seems you are doing the Affinity Suites the same way I did.   Photo first, then on to Publisher and leave Designer to have fun when the television is depressing beyond description.  Because of AP I soon after bought a new camera (Canon Rebel T7) and began to get into the RAW photo technique. Although my new camera is only entry level I can really see a big difference in photo quality and design.  I'm not George Masa, but I'm trying.

Howdy everyone, 

I live on coastal Texas, south of Houston. 

I am 75 years old and getting back into photography after being away from it for decades (since I got out of the Navy back in the 70s). I was using Lightroom for a while, but I suppose that I am just too old to like the concept of software subscriptions, and bought Affinity Photo. So I am learning this program (I bought the Workbook) and digital photography.

I also went ahead and purchased Publisher and Designer. 

I have been using Apple Computers since the Apple II days.

Hey, Sailor.  Too old to like the concept of subscriptions?  I will be 70 in just a few days, but I do wonder:  Who is too old to accept the concept of subscriptions?  But especially, subscriptions for something you've already paid for.  Hugh Hefner would have gotten no where if after buying PlayBoy you had to have a subscription to look at the centerfold.  I mean the girls weren't THAT good looking.

Anyway, glad to see you here in the forum.  Like you I've recently gotten back into photography.  Now that I've retired its a hobby since I have way too much time on my hands.  Why just two days ago I found out that my new camera works a lot better if I read the instructions FIRST.  Who would have thought?  

Although Affinity Photo is my first love I got Publisher because I didn't have a decent text editor on my iMac and it has been a blessing.  And if I may recommend; Designer is a program to bring up and TINKER with when you have nothing else to do.   It will surprise you.  

Again, welcome aboard and wish you the best with your photography.  Don't ever pass up a chance to experiment!

I am a media designer and specialised in high-quality book productions in special printing processes. I have worked a lot with Adobe programmes and have now switched to Affinity, also due to Adobe's pricing policy. Since switching to Affinity Photo, Publisher and Designer, I have not regretted changing. The changeover took some getting used to, but it was worth the small effort. I am already a convinced Affinity user and will certainly remain so.

the idea of the subscription should be to lower the cost due to efficiencies of distribution and lower production costs while keeping all licenses up to date, not to increase the cost! somehow that little bit was lost on Adobe and some consumers have rejected their higher prices. Affinity's success if evidence of this. However with the high level of switching costs in terms of training, known workflows,  file compatibility with other professionals and our own future use of existing legacy files, many are hesitant to switch and Adobe knows this and uses this to extract as much as they can. Does anyone remember Google's old tagline: Don't be evil?

Hello @EBermudezand welcome to the forums.

You mention vectoring photos. Are you aware that none of the Afinity apps will automatically convert a photo to a vector image. You can do it using external programs and the import the vector image into Affinity.

@BRalphB  Welcome to the Forums!😊  You will probably get useful answers to your question much sooner if you will post it in the section Affinity Support and Questions, Frequently Asked Questions, Affinity on Desktop Questions.  Sometimes people don't check this section as often.  I cannot help you, but know that there are others who surely can!  But I do know that you should certainly find Affinity Photo a delight to use as you become familiar with it!

I was sold on the idea of being able to import PDF documents into publisher by watching one of the Affinity videos. I'm joined the forums, as that feature doesn't seem to work for me.

Hello everybody,

my name is Nils-Petter Olsen, call me Peter or Nils if you want. I am an emerging artist from Norway, just starting to actually sell my work. Partly due to the fact that I have had actual exhibitions, which helped a lot.  I have almost exclusively worked in "traditional" media like acrylis, charcoal and different kinds of pencils. Currently I live pretty rural, so unfortunately not much of an art scene locally. 

Last year my wife bought me a used Samsung Note phone, despite her trAp-ple core principles - which means she must really love me! I downloaded some drawing apps, and I loved it, despite obvious size limitations. Before Christmas I bought my self a Cintiq, Affinity Photo and Publisher. Haven't done much with Publisher yet, though I probably will try it out for making artsy quasi-comic books down the line. 👍 So far I just love AP more every day for its simplicity and yet versatility/power. I don't use it for photo editing, just for drawing/painting and coloring. I love freedom, so actually owning the tools I use just rubs me the right way. Thank you Affinity for that!

Hi I have done graphic design off and on for many years. Programs I have used in the past are

• Gem Desktop Publishing
• Corel Draw Suite
• Adobe Master Creative suite CS5 - CS6

For the most part I do vector and some photo. I took a 2 year course in graphic design that covered AI, PS, ID, FL in 2010 as part of a career change but found it difficult at an older age to get my foot in the door.

Most of my work is done for church related presentation however I am very interested in after some searching for a replacement since Adobe went to subscription I found myself here and have purchased Designer. Still working through some of the differences and limitations but have been pleased with it so far.

More recently, I have been reading the forum and discovering that I am far of being alone. One of my 2022 goals is to make a lot of digital art drawings.
