    Vamporia - Red Dead Stories

Thought I would share this story, not sure if there is much of a call for this type of content nowadays. This intro story is inspired by my partial play through of RED Dead Redemption 2 on PC. I have used the setting for the story from the game where I then did a photo shoot taking pictures from inside the game world and then enhancing them using Affinity Photo and Designer. I was very pleased with the level of detail shown by the creators of this game world and this prompted me to write a series of RED Dead Stories. Digital Media Only Red Dead Vamporia.pdf
  3. [AD] [AP] Misc illustrations

Hello everyone, Here's some works I've done with AD and AP.
  5. Added a PDF tutorial describing some of the methods to create vector brushes from a personal perspective. Some of the techniques are a bit unconventional.. but I hope you find it useful! Created using AD and APu (1.7 beta) Sample pages as below: Create Vector Brush_06.pdf
  6. Here's a question. I think I know the answer, but... I am using Affininty Photo, Publisher and Designer on a PC. I save to the PC and also to the cloud. If I work off line I can save to cloud when on line and it will update. I can open the file on return. Everything works ok. Now, here's the scenario. I have the facility of obtaining an Apple Laptop. I know that I will need to obtain the Apple programmes. If I use the apple variants and save to files the cloud, can I open them on the PC from the cloud, or is each limited to its own operating system use? Regards Ross
  7. Well it's THAT time of year again, and there's no avoiding it... This month, create something related to the holiday season. This could be a photo of a Christmas Tree or a Christmas lights display, a wintry landscape, your dog in a Santa hat etc. If you're looking for an extra challenge, try to work in some unusual angles or experiment with depth of focus. When posting, if you can, please also write a sentence of two on the editing techniques you used or the filters you applied, so that we can learn from each other. Alternatively, create something in Designer or Publisher that expresses 'December'. This could be a holiday greeting card, a gift-wrapped box, Santa's reindeers crossing a starry sky, etc etc. If your style is more 'Christmas Grinch' than 'Santa's Little Helper' (no judgement here), create a photo or piece of art that channels 'Mid-winter', or 'the shortest day'. (Apologies to people in the Southern Hemisphere - maybe you could do the longest day and make us northies jealous of your fine weather!) We had some gorgeous pics last month, and I hope more of you can find the time to join in again. Let's see what you've got!
  8. This is a very old thread and pre-dates the version below: Updated version is located here :Texture Brush Packs [Hatching Version 2] Making available a new set of texture brushes [hatching 02] that I have been working on for a new artwork Texture Brush Pack 04.zip
  9. Cool, I did some typography art in Affinity. I copied texts & arranged them to create a square that surrounds another text. I grouped all the texts, then I used the photo persona to 1st copied the text, then I went to the menu, then selected >File >New from Clipboard. Then I exported it to PNG.

    Free digital 2020 planner/calendar

Hello everyone! :-) I've created a free digital 2020 planner for everyone to use in the next year. Some of the design features I included are: - overview of the year, each quarter, and each month, with places to write down the most important tasks and dates, - "Gantt overview" to see which times of the year are more or less busy (it's not really Gantt chart, just a timeline view to see the whole year at a glance with multiple long-running projects), - "Habits" to track progress of up to 10 habits, each row is the habit, each column is the day, you have 6 boxes there for water intake tracking, mindfulness practice, sport, etc. - a complete 54-week week spread planner with extra rows at the bottom for weather, mood, food, and gratefulness tracking :-) (left column is for tasks for the week to have a nice overview) It works best with a stylus/Apple Pencil on a tablet, or in a PDF annotation tool on desktop. Let me know what you think and I really hope you will find it useful in the coming year! :-) cubitoo-2020-planner.pdf

    Christmas Greetings

Hi Many Christmas cards, maybe almost all of them these days, have the message Merry Christmas Yet what if the intended recipient is known to be recently widowed, or ill, or is looking after someone who is ill, or has just been made redundant and is worried and watching every penny, and so on, and wishing Merry might seem, and indeed be, very inappropriate. For example, a lady who has been widowed after around fifty of marriage and this will be her first ever Christmas alone. Yet the person might really appreciate receiving an appropriate card. So, if you wish to participate please design and, if you also choose to do so, post here a design for a Christmas card that is tasteful and does not use the word Merry, using one or more Affinity products and anything else you choose to use. Please state what you use in the same or later post. You need to choose a message. I know that theoretically a font does not change the meaning of the text set in that font, but I have long held the view that it can do. I am trying to think how one describes such a phenomenon, if indeed it exists. William
  14. Trick: Ever wonder how to keep track on how many assets in the folder? After all assets have been counted, add the info after the title of the sub category. Here's the illustration;
  15. Well, I think it's near enough now, so here's this year's Christmas video. Made with Affinity Photo & Designer and Movie Plus X6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTJEneTyJ2U
  16. I'm testing Affinity Designer for the first time and I really like the ease of making complex shapes. I've never been much into Illustrator before, so Affinity is just what I need! I'm looking at the list of export formats and I couldn't find TGA. Don't know whether to think that's strange or not, but for game engines, TGA seem to be used more than I knew before. At the game design school I graduated from, we were encouraged to use TGA for UI elements. I thought that was strange to begin with, but I stuck to it. Now I'm modding a game, and the game wants TGA. It becomes a bit of a hassle to export to something else first and then convert to TGA. Is TGA of any interest for you to support ? I know I'd be super happy, and could make faster iterations with the automated export. Simply make a change in a slice, it exports on the fly, go into Unreal Engine and refresh the asset - bang! Done!
  17. After being inspired by forum member Graphic&Design, I thought I might start a thread to encourage people to make and share their art based around a particular theme. Not certain how much interest there might be, but hopefully a few of you will join in! :) The challenge: create something using Affinity's products based on the theme of Autumn/Fall. Your art can be as simple or as complex as you want. It could be a single vector leaf or an entire forest. Perhaps a hat & scarf or a pair of wellies to represent the changing weather. A rosy red apple or a squirrel with some nuts. These are only suggestions. It's very open to interpretation. Whatever autumn means to you! And remember, it's not about who's best. It's about creating art and having fun. So, let's see some pics!
  18. Hello, I would like to ask if it is foreseen to translate the Affinity Photo to other languages. I'm especially interested in Czech language. I have no trouble in using English at all but there are older generations of photographers that would love to have the Affinity translated. If there is no plan to do that, is there a simple way for me how can I do that? Thank you for your answer in advance. Jakub
  19. With my free SVG Calendar Tool (https://svg-tools.mensch-mesch.com/calendar/) you can create different types of SVG Calendar Templates (Scalable Vector Graphic) for all Affinity products. This tool is not perfect but it will possibly safe a lot of time. Hope you like this simple tool Keep on drawin' Norbert

  21. A post on Facebook prompted me to make this image. Tutorialmeister Carl Surry posted a link to this tutorial by Michael Wilson: Here's my effort: and the figure I started off in AP with a couple of stock images, the background by J C Gellidon from Unsplash and the figure by Radu Florin from Pexels. The 'portal' began as an ellipse; actually a circle which I deformed with the Perspective Tool to make it appear parallel to the shop fronts. The flare is a trapezium rotated onto its side. Some clipping, masking, gradients, transparency (in Designer) produced the lighting effect, and I added a pixel layer to paint a few highlights on the right-hand side. Here's the aphoto file: AlleyPortal-000bSMALL.afphoto

    Blackout in Technicolour

Really happy with the speed of Pub 1.7.3 on this album cover for the Steam Kittens new release, although I started off the digi painting in Clip studio paint, I did a fair chunk in Pub using studio link photo using Frankentoon and Daub brushes plus some vector colour overlays - did need to use Illustrator to distort the SK logo and the colour wheel around the image but really impressed with the speed of using studio link on tonnes of layers
