  1. Never got around to it, but so true. Opportunity however has called for a freelance project, so all free time gets allocated to the client I suppose. Graphics for a ski company, should be a fun one, looking forward to sharing with the community when its completed.
  2. This is more of a piece of info to share with newer users, especially to those who utilze the pen tool. Sharing knowledge is critical - helping someone in their journey in mastering technique is one of the greatest rewards in life. Clearly, Affinity's pen tool is fantastic. So maybe you know this, or perhaps not. For quite some time I was unaware that you could adjust anchor points in the pen tool's pressure setting independently of one another (where anchor points follow one another uniformly). To get around this, use the option key on a mac to scale anchor points independently. You will see it makes your lines look much more interesting. Additionally, the command key sometimes does this as well. Experiment with it and make awesome art.
  3. Thanks that's a lot of great advice, I will have to give that a try and see what the results are. I definitely think I screwed up on my end and forgot to change the ICC profile from CMYK to RGB before exporting. I got a reply from Affinity with similar suggestions. Pinterest I just have not had great results with. Regarding the youtube channel I'm not too sure about, I don't have any channel setup and just create graphics in my free time when i get a chance -maybe someone with the same profile name..
  4. A poster design for a ski tour event with lots of pen tool work and some mixed media elements I suppose. Painted in Affinity Photo. Hoping to meet a content writer/designer someday who would want to work together to publish a short story. The universe works in a mysterious ways.
  5. Learning the Affinity Designer Tools, I wanted to draw up a quick Superman sketch and ink/color in Affinity Designer. Pretty straightforward, draw, scan, pen tool, and color.
  6. Ripley from Aliens painted in Affinity photo. One of my first times using Affinity after making the switch from Adobe. Experimented with various brushes, perhaps soft brushes set to low opacity. The fog is created with a smoke or fog brush, tons of options out there. I still prefer traditional pencils, charcoals, and blenders for anything in the "portrait" world. I remember reading in a tutorial that soft brushes can give your work a "plastic" look to it. The world is yours, create awesome artwork and keep learning!
  7. This design was created using Affinity Designer and Photo. Ehh the color and quality loss after uploading is painful and have had similar results on Pinterest. Anyway, Batman the Ride is one of the greatest coasters ever and had visited Six Flags over Texas and Great America last fall. There was no cool merch for the ride anywhere, so wanted to try and create something to do the ride justice. I created the outline using the pen tool in Designer with some vector fills to block in certain areas. I then imported the file into Affinity Photo and started coloring and adding detail with various brushes. I've had good results with the Nathan Brown brush packs. Thanks to Affinity for creating this great program, I will never go back to Adobe again. I WAS NOT commissioned by DC or Six flags to create this art.
