  1. The control point tools in the Nik plugins are unique and cannot always be emulated in Affinity's tools. One plugin I would like to see working in Affinity is 4N6's Color Deconvolution plugin. It looks to be able to do wondrous things that I cannot see Affinity doing by itself. I also find Topaz's AI Clean works wonders with scanned slides. John

Color problem with Nik Collection plugins

I tried DxO Viveza in the new beta 333 on a histological image and it looked fine. John
  3. As a matter of getting your point across, I would suggest that you would have been better to put it like this: On their web page [link] Serif has claimed that John
  4. This quote is rather unhelpful without any indication of the source or the date. John
  5. That is what I had assumed. Thanks for the pointer to the help documentation. John
  6. You can. If you edit a jpeg or tiff and do not add layers or effects then Save will save in the same place and as the same filetype. With more complex editing, you need to export. Where you draw the line is unclear however. I only discovered this by accident. It does not seem to be well-documented. John
  7. I scan a black-and-white image using VueScan using the B/W Text mode and save as a Tiff. If I open this in Corel Paint X7, it identifies the image as being 1-bit. If I open the same image in AP 1.6, it automatically converts it to 8-bit sRGB. I have to convert it to an 8-bit greyscale to do anything useful before export. Even if AP will not deal with 1-bit images, I think the least it could do is to treat it as an 8-bit greyscale rather than RGB! It does the same in 1.7 beta. John

Sorry about that. The 'this' should have had a link attached. I was just trying to encourage @Bruce E. Gallie to follow the link to the PagePlus site. John

    Have you tried this? John

New photography edited with Affinity Photo

Nice to see some photographic images in the Share your work forum. It would be nice to see some information as to what (if anything) you did to the images. John
  11. It would have helped if you had uploaded the actual exported images rather than screenshots and you had labelled each image. As it is, the order seems to be notonemap, tonemapnatural and Photomatix. is that right? You have made it hard on yourself by photographing directly into a setting sun. I would have probably taken more images, say one stop apart. Did you look at your images once you had taken them? Did they encompass all the tones that you wanted to preserve? You have tried two tone mapping variants. Have you tried to vary the sliders independently of the tone-mapping presets? It might be worth a try. I would suggest that you upload the three files. You can upload jpegs, and they need not be too large for us to try. If you develop the raw files, use the same parameters when you develop, preferably the default. John
  12. I use the windows Snipping tool. Very easy to use. John
  13. As far as windows goes, the answer is no. There have been requests in the Feature Requests for Photo forum. You might like to add your voice to one of those threads. John
  14. You would probably have got a much faster response if you had posted your Question in the Questions forum. This Tutorials forum is really for Tutorials that members can consult. Often a member will post a Tutorial in the Tutorials forum following a Question in the Questions forum. Anyway, thanks to @Pedro Soares for an explanation. Slices is something that I have often wondered about but have never got round to using. John
