I do hundreds of the history portraits, first in AP then imported into AD where I use half a dozen export sizes.
I used the paint mixer brush for Rodin, the rest mostly regular brush.
I really wish the paint mixer brush worked better. I do have my wacom table  mixer brush set for C & L. But the mixer brush is just not as good as painter or photoshop, which I've mostly given up for Affinity Photo. I do have hope that it will get better in future versions

    Whew, it's the modifier option:

All is back to working 😀

I have a Wacom. It does not have "i" or "b" buttons.
Perhaps you have configured some of the buttons on your Wacom so they do something we don't understand? We may need to know more about which button you're clicking, and what you have that button configured to do.

kat reacted to Dan C in i dropper doesn't allow me to revert to brush tool?
    Hi @kat,
If you are using the i key shortcut to switch to the colour picker, you will need to hit i again, once you have picked the colour, to return to the brush tool.
Switching to the Colour Picker tool from the Paint Brush tool appears to be 'swapping' the foreground and background colour wells, meaning you apply the colour picked colour to the foreground swatch, then when switching back to the Paint Brush tool this becomes the background swatch and the brush continues to use the same colour as before colour picking.
I must say I'm not currently certain if this is expected behaviour, as switching to the Colour Picker tool from other tools (such as the quick shape objects) doesn't swap the foreground and background swatches - so I'm checking this with our developers now and will be sure to update you with any pertinent information!
In the meantime, with the Paint Brush tool selected, use X to swap the foreground and background wells, then use i to switch to the colour picker and pick your required colour. Once picked, press i once again to return to the previous tool and you should find the picked colour is now in use by the brush

I don't see this update lag often but when I do changing the thumbnail size in the 'hamburger' menu at the top right of the Layers panel to any other size & back again forces an immediate update.

It's not a feature I'd need very often. Usually I'd place it directly as a temporary layer into the document.
But on Mac, I just find out that it's possible to create floating windows on the fly (pun!) using the Notes app: macrumors.com/how-to/float-notes-over-application-windows-macos. Haven't even noticed (yet another pun!) this feature in all those years. However, on El Capitan it doesn't work with locally saved notes, only with the synced notes. Haven't tried on newer MacOS versions yet.

Yes, you do. Try it: I think you’ll like it!
If you draw with the Pencil Tool instead of Pen Tool, you can switch on Sculpt mode to continue from either end node of a selected open path.

Ctrl-clicking on the thumbnail in the Layers panel should work for a single layer; alternatively, for an area with a solid fill, use the Smart Selection Brush Tool in the Pixel persona. In a case like yours where you have two overlapping areas, I think you need to use Option/Alt+Add to create a compound object for either method to work correctly.

kat reacted to R C-R in How in the world do i continue the previously made node and path?
@firstdefence, The 'add new curve' mode must already have been enabled in the OP's screenshot -- otherwise I don't think the badge on the Pen Tool pointer would be that asterisk-in-a-circle symbol. More to the point, that mode does not add to the original curve. Instead, it starts a new, unconnected one in the same layer. When the asterisk-in-a-circle symbol appears, from what I can tell it just means the next curve will start with a node on top of the one the pointer is hovering over.
You can check this by changing to the Node Tool & clicking on that node & dragging it.
AFAIK, to continue to add nodes to an existing open curve works the same way it always has: first select one of its end nodes with the Node Tool, & then use the Pen Tool to set the next node. Using the keyboard shortcut to temporarily toggle the Pen Tool to the Node Tool (CMD on Macs, probably CTRL on Windows) makes this fairly quick & easy.

They stick until you change them, or have to reinstall the app. There's a checkbox in the Assistant Manager, up at the top, Alert when assistant takes action. Uncheck if you don't like it popping up.
Unfortunately I don't think it's mentioned in any of Affinity's tutorials. So right now we just have the Help file..
    https://affinity.help/photo/en-US.lproj/pages/DesignAids/AssistantManager.html
Just done a YouTube search and found a tutorial done by Olivia Sarikas, just on the Assistant Manager
