Hi, sorry but I don't think Export Persona has a variable available for the document name at the moment, if that's what you mean? Your English is much better than my French, so please don't apologise at all!

    Thanks again, Matt

This beta cycle has ended and this release candidate build is now the retail MAS version 1.6.1
    Status: Release Candidate
    Purpose: Improvements, fixes
Requirements: Purchased Mac Affinity Designer [from Mac App Store]
    Mac App Store: Submitted
    Download: Download from Here

To use this beta, simply download the file from the link given above and double-click on the file to open the installer. Follow the instructions to install the beta version. The beta sits alongside the Mac App Store version and will not interfere with it.

This beta is an iteration of the current App Store release and should be used in preference to the App Store release, if you are affected by any of the issues listed below.

    Fixes/Improvements:
Improved Pressure response in pixel tools. Fix for 3D profile crash and Blend Ranges dialog crash. Fix for missing Place Image Tool icon. Fixed Korean Hangul text entry. Vector export improvements. Fix for failures when using compound objects inside groups with Constraints set on them. Font support improvements - specifically relating to fonts which substitute spaces or have truncated Unicode CMAP tables. Transparent TGA import support + misc TIFF loading fixes. Fix for deleting a node of a bitmap fill causing crash. Improved pixel painting smoothing. Any pixel-based painting tools should now have better smoothing by default. Fix for combo boxes causing crashes for certain users on High Sierra. Fix for exporting JPEG automatically choosing to export clips as paths which is a poor default and causes confusion. Fix for text objects being created outside the hierarchy of the artboard they were supposed to be created in. Fix for rotated text bounding boxes being incorrect and for disappearing text following Power-Duplicate. Fixed sporadic hanging when opening many image files at once. Fixed crashing bug when exporting certain large PSDs. Fixed a number of UI memory leaks. Added special case PSD import code for “SketchClub” PSD files (they should fix this!). Fixed PSD export of Fill layers. Fixed UI labels on macOS versions prior to Mavericks. SVG import can now handle gradients with missing x1 or y1 values. Assorted PDF export improvements. Localisation improvements. Paste and file-drop of PDF format files will now honour the DPI, as per File->Place. Fix for marching ants not showing on a rotated canvas. Miscellaneous other fixes and tweaks.

    Hi Osang,

This is caused because the 2nd artboard is positioned on a subpixel. If you convert your document units to pixels you will see the position is set to 1342.5 px. Changing this to 1342 px will allow you to export without getting that extra pixel being added.

This is a known issue that is with development to fix. I'll get it bumped with them.

    hehe, happens to me too!
The dialog box that pops up is slightly intimidating and doesn't explain that your problem might be that the MAS version is newer than the beta - after all this time; whenever I read the "A purchased copy of Affinity X must be installed", I still get momentarily shocked ("oh no, what happened to my purchased copy? Did it expire?")

    Hi reynoldsarts,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
This is a standard practise for all apps sold through the Mac App Store. When you want to update them, go to the Updates tab on the Mac App Store and click the Update button in front of them. You can also configure it to update the apps automatically going to the App Store menu on the top left, selecting Preferences.... and ticking the Install app updates box.

Publisher's release date has already been pushed out many times before so expecting early 2018 is a bit optimistic. I personally can't wait. I have my credit card ready and waiting for the release date. Skip the beta testing phase and just release it – bugs and all. Give me a discount as a launch deal and fix everything in the first update... I won't complain, promise.

(It must be the implementation of the 'impossible' arrow heads that's holding up its release...  )

Affinity Photo codebase (released through the iPad has already got from 1.6.0 to 1.6.5. This implies that Affinity Photo desktop is later, so we chose 1.6.6

Affinity Designer has not been released on any platform before yesterday, so we called it 1.6.0. This is also based on the same codebase as photo 1.6.6 but there are a lot fewer people exchanging files between designer and photo than between iPad and Mac, so we wanted to give the desktop Photo owners confidence that it had all the same fixes as the live iPad version. In that respect we should do a 1.6.6 iPad update when we can, but it's not high priority as of today.
Tickled my OCD for weeks through the beta, but it's a fair compromise, as calling them all 1.6.0 except for the live iPad feels wrong, as does launching them all as 1.6.6 on desktop...

I mean that if I turn off the "Clip to Canvas" view mode - in Affinity Designer 1.5 there is a canvas area border and in the beta version this border is gone (or it appears just for one second).

Hey everyone, I'd like to chime in here (and yes, I'm all for group hugs!)

I purchased the full CS 6 master suite just months before Adobe switched to the insane subscription model, and happily used it for a couple years with mostly no problems. This was a relatively good thing, for I found out later that the Adobe customer support is beyond horrendous, it is non-existent. Then, with every upgrade to macOS, it became more and more difficult to keep it running adequately. First, it was needing an antique version of Java to run, then little other things kept popping up. I would go for months without the ability to use one the apps or another. Finally, by the time MacOS 10.11 came around, I gave up altogether and just ditched the whole thing. Thus began a multi-year search for a replacement, which kinda culminated when I discovered the Affinity family. just a couple months ago. I say "kinda" because I still have not found a suitable replacement for the InDesign app.

These Affinity apps represent the epitome of how truly well engineered applications should be made. It is readily apparent that an incredible amount of forethought, engineering, testing and refinement goes into every tiny detail. As a result, every interaction, button click, and visual feedback just feels right, natural and intuitive. I cannot remember how long it has been since I actually enjoyed using a piece of software, but it really is a pure joy to use these Affinity apps, big time! Take the pen tool for example, like most designers out there, this was always my least favorite tool to use, and consequently I almost never used it. However, in Designer, it is just the opposite, and for the first time ever, I am actually using the pen tool, and enjoying it to boot! The way it feels, interacts and provides feedback truly makes it a tool that is easy and pleasurable to use. The Affinity dev team has truly taken the Apple philosophy of design and engineering excellence to heart, and it comes through in every detail of these applications.

The reason I share this here is that I hope to convey to the development team just how painful it really is to us to not have Affinity Publisher available yet. One major problem with all of the temporary alternatives offered in this discussion thread is that after spending just a small bit of time working in Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo on macOS, all of the other just feel like crap. Really, after being absolutely spoiled by the ease and joy of the Affinity suite, using any of the others feels downright disgusting. It is akin to taking off a finely crafted and tailored Italian suit and putting on a pair of scratchy worn-out jeans. Like innumerable other Affinity users, I have a very real and pressing need for Publisher. Of course, I do appreciate the need to do it right, I really do. But know also that there is a huge gap in today's software availability, one that can only be filled by the forthcoming release of Publisher. So if there is any way to allocate more resources to the Publisher dev, design and testing team, please do it, please!

Atari is brining a new computer too ... I mean, while you're at it, just add whatever system they are using to the list.
And please don't forget MS DOS 6.1 -- I've got an emulator on my Android watch and would like to use it there too.

Hi Cyberhusky. We already do some of that. Our zoom is already almost unlimited. You can do calculations like 22m + 3cm in every appropriate field. Any vector object can be made into a textbox - currently it will then not be drawn itself, but that will change in 1.7. We aren't planning to port to Amiga, so don't expect Amiga-specific features.

Some people were making the comparison, but your point was that the 'original' Photoshop was written by two people.  We developed the first version of Designer and Photo with 5/6 people.  Cast your mind back - was that original Photoshop 2/5 as good as the first release of Affinity Photo?  As I recall Photoshop didn't get particularly good for 3 or 4 major versions.

Another issue is anyone who thinks that just throwing more people at the problem will turn faster improvements.  That is a bad assumption.  The current team has an in-depth knowledge of our code base, and our development strategy.  Adding new people doesn't instantly equate to faster development.  In fact, in some cases, adding new people can have a detrimental effect as they take time to get up to speed, and have a greater chance of introducing bugs.

This is the first beta of a substantial change to our codebase and as much as we have tried to ensure the quality of the code, it should be considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity that may be adversely affected by the application failing. In addition it is definitely worth noting that files created in Affinity 1.6 may not open in 1.5 so always make a copy of your important documents before opening them in 1.6 to ensure you do not accidentally overwrite them and are unable to open them in your 1.5 version.

To use this beta, simply download the file from the link given above and double-click on the file to open the installer. Follow the instructions to install the beta version. The beta sits alongside the Mac App Store version and will not interfere with it.

    Fixes/Improvements:
First and foremost, the 1.6 version is mainly about: Light UI! (go to Preferences->User Interface) Improved view pan/zoom performance and new pixel-differencing pixel shader Improved performance with large documents New font chooser dropdown with recents, used fonts and favourites New Glyph browser Stroke stabiliser for all pencil and brush tools Align to key items (first/last selected) Text frame vertical alignment options Fit frame to text (double-click on bottom centre handle). Transform panel uses the rotation centre Scale/shear can now be performed about rotation centre Double-click now resets shape handles and rotate/shear handles Many PDF export improvements including vector export of multi-stop gradients Numerous bug fixes and stability improvements
