Glicky got a reaction from Markus van der Westhuizen in Freeform Gradient tool
1BIG +
The "Freeform Gradient tool" is a very cool tool added by Adobe in the last release. something like this in AD will be really great...

Glicky got a reaction from jAffinitySerif in Wavy lines
Maybe we need something like the "line styles" drop-down menu in Indesign... (see the "Wavy" style below)

Glicky got a reaction from deeds in Artistic text to paragraph text and vice versa
I agree. but this few small (but very handy, sometimes) features is not the factor to make the program slow, its more about heavy features, like the "revolving" and 3D options in AI.
I used this "convert artistic text to paragraph text" option a lot in CorelDRAW, it's just a little feature, but sometimes very handy.

Glicky got a reaction from Pandorino in Smart fill tool
Thanks for the idea, but when it comes to filling a lot of "holes" with colors, it will get difficult to end it up correctly. (see attached file)
I think that a "smart filler" is an important tool for A Designer. Great application should have "automated tools".

Glicky got a reaction from klm.ny in simple keyframe animation feature
Agree. Btw, it's a popular request, and the best suggestion i saw in the forums, was to add an "Animation Persona" in A Designer.
Will be great

Glicky got a reaction from greedy013 in Fix RTL for Arabic, Persian and Hebrew languages
Hi dominik.
Here you can found the reason why they are unwilling to add support for RTL and Complex scripts in the near future. . When i asked Serif directly via email if they would add this support, that's what they answered me:
"We understand that there is a large number of users who require RTL support, but it is not something that can be created quickly. There are a lot of intangibles with the different RTL languages, that do not come in to play with Latin languages. Latin languages are very formulaic in there composition, where as right to left languages can vary from Arabic to Hebrew, or from Persian to Urdu. We don't just need to implement the ability to right from right to left, we also need to ensure that all of the technical aspects of these languages are working correctly.
We are a tiny company with limited resources. We will do what we can we with the resources that we have. We do not want to focus the coming years focusing on one feature, and if it is something that is feasible then it will be included in the future."
---
So, it sounds that we'll have to wait a long time, until we will have support for complex scripts and rtl languages in affinity.
Bt"w, in my opinion it's worth to hire programmers only for this purpose. it's a 100 percent guarantee they will get back the money (With large percentages) very fast, taking in mind that they are opening the way for new hundreds of thousands of graphic designers (and maybe millions over the time) who can't work without this supports.

Glicky got a reaction from Pixlers in Artistic text to paragraph text and vice versa
A feature to convert artistic text to paragraph text is not something that will make the program 'complicated'... you can say this on every feature.
(its more complicated to create a new text object and to copy paste, from right clicking to select "convert paragraph text"...)
The reason why so many functions are missing, is just becalse its a young program. (there is no ImageTrace etc in Affinity, because the software will be to complicated?)

Glicky got a reaction from Markcq in Symmetry Tool
Please add to ADesigner something like the amazing Symmetry Tool from CorelDRAW (and Adobe illustrator), that allows to create all kinds of shapes and lines in a symmetrical pattern easley and instantly.
(In AD its only for "brushes" in the "pixel persona")
Thanks.

Glicky got a reaction from Andika Ferdy in Smart fill tool
Is there a tool in AD that fills closed areas to create a new shape, something like the "smart fill" tool in CorelDRAW?
(if not, will it be added in the future? and what's the work-around for it?)
Sorry... i'm new to Affinity.

Glicky reacted to CLC in Vector Tools - more enhancements
I would also add a reverse path feature (helps when boolean operations are failing).

Glicky reacted to Jowday in Vector Tools - more enhancements
Agreed, a simplify tool (common tool in other programs) would indeed be a great addition. Even to clean up nodes made by yourself. It is a useful tool.

Glicky reacted to Jhonatan S in Vector Tools - more enhancements
Hi,
Just posting here my feedback about the vector tools.
When I'm drawing in vector I feel that the nodes sometimes are generated not very well and I spend a good time just to adjust and remove these nodes, you guys can check my youtube videos and see that this also happens with the IPAD Pro even using Apple pencil, I think there can be an option to apply a sort of cleaner of nodes to reduce these points, or during the drawing, a better way to optimize these nodes generated automatically. I think this example attached can make sense about my feedback.
thanks,

Glicky reacted to MattP in Expand Stroke v2. Affinity mods deliberately lie?
Here is the test curve svg - the first curve I created. Try for yourself, there is no lying (obviously - why on Earth would there be?) and the results are the results I showed.
testcurve.svg
And what exactly is the point of you trying Affinity Designer 1.7 when we've acknowledged the problem and I clearly labelled the results I showed as being from Affinity Designer 1.8 Beta.
Many thanks for your input,
Matt

Please also in ADesigner.
Both, perspective and Warp Tool.

Glicky reacted to Fixx in Wasted 209,33€ because of —your— app bug!
If Designer has document set up in physical units (mm or inches), copying stuff from it should keep dimensions in such units. It is certainly a bug if it does not.

Glicky reacted to Patrick Connor in Expand Stroke Needs Work
Has it occurred to any of you that some people on this forum (indeed in this thread) may be more sensitive than you?
I think that you have summarized the problem and Serif's responses adequately, and I do not think any more attacking or defensive posts will achieve anything.
I have always defended the rights of users like Oval, Jowday and others to hold our feet to the fire in public, but there is a thin line between questioning our responses and intentions and calling us liars and implying we don't care. I think this thread is best locked now before that line is encroached on further.

Glicky reacted to MikeW in Wasted 209,33€ because of —your— app bug!
I once made a mistake in a drawing and ran 1000 units. A bit more wasted cost than 209,33€. It was a different mistake in a different software. But totally my fault. The shop doing the cutting's moto is "We make it exactly like your file." And they did. I have always checked my output files before and since...but the mistake I made slipped through.
I don't know why the scale was different between your two files. The only time I have had size weirdness in Affinity software was related to the document DPIs.

Glicky reacted to fde101 in Warp Feature
Isometric is not the same as perspective.
Note that the tools in Photo are *raster* tools and will rasterize whatever they are applied to.
There are numerous other threads already requesting *vector* versions of these tools for Designer and Publisher, which is really what we should be looking for. Also would be nice if they could be applied to artistic text while keeping it as editable text (not as important to do this for frame text).

Glicky reacted to momsthewordus in Warp Feature
Thank you, Carl123. That tool is just what I need. Like Glicky said, I would also love to see perspective and warp tool in designer. That type of feature is the only reason that I need both programs right now.
