Hi all! My first babysteps with Affinity, the car mostly done in Illustrator but the rest, a lot dots and spots and background done in pixelmode in my newly bought Affinity. I'm not a pro but an amateur and I have a couple years drawed pictures over my hometown Nyköping in Sweden. Here is the latest. Though not town but outside. Sorry for the english it's not my first language. (why I bought affinity is because I bought a new mac to replace my 12 years old one and the old Adobe suite I had did'nt work in the new mac so, and now they had begun with monthly payed system that I as an poor amateur don't afford so I searched for a cheaper program, Affinity is very promising though I miss a few thing, maybe they come in future) Best Regards Jochum

I recently tried creating an ambigram of my name... with not great results, but I will not be beaten, and tried again. An ambigram is a word that can be read both ways when rotated 180 degrees. I'm much happier with the results this time!! Sketched in Artflow, finished in Affinity Designer using symbols Gary, Chris and Pam... but hopefully you can read that www.gsdesignstudio.co.uk

Environment: AffinityDesigner v2.1.0 macOS Ventura 13.3.1 Display: OpenGL Hardware acceleration: Apple M1 Max (Metal) Issues Detail: - Adding a new Artboard in Embedding Document not showing on the Main document (showing empty with bounding box) - Adding more Artboards in Embedding Document may cause the app crashed Expected Result: Sample result as Affinity Designer 1.x Steps to reproduce: 1. Open main document 2. Double click the embedding document to enter edit mode 3. Select on artboard in the embedding document and press Cmd+J to duplicate, drag to a new position (have content like shape/text...) 4. Go back to the main document, select the embedding document and switch to the new ardboard duplicated just now from context toolbar 5. The embedding document layer showing empty with bounding box Additional Information: - The document was created in Affinity Designer v2.0.4 - Issues still exist after app restarted - Sometimes the first duplicated artboard shows normal bug the second one shows empty - Sometimes duplicated artboard in embedding document may cause the app crashed - If the main document and embedding document created in v2.1.0, main document can not be saved with warning (see screenshot-1) - I have a SD card inserted, but all documents I worked with is on local SSD - Please provide official email address for upload sample documents and videos (for privacy reasons I can't upload here) Screenshots/Videos:

The most I love application from Affinity is Affinity Publisher. I don't know much about Affinity Publisher like what it does and how it does. The only one reason I love about is It can open Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo. It is so much simple and very helpful. However, When I open Affinity Designer, for example, I notice there is called Pixel Persona and Export Persona but cannot see those when opening in Affinity Publisher. Just want to know whether there are differences between opening those application by itself and opening through Affinity Publisher.

I've always been attracted to Art Nouveau imagery, particularly that of the brilliant Alphonse Mucha, who is largely accredited for starting that appealing type of graphic art. I wanted to wrap my mind around the specific aspects of the craft of which this practice drawing is the first attempt. I plan to do more Art Nouveau all vector drawings in the future, unlike this image that contains both vector and bitmap embedded files. Technically this image is some sort of blend of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, the latter being the successor of the first art movement, I guess. Hi, I've checked around the forum and I've seen this question come up before, so I'll mention it again. Can we please have the ability to have "Save History with Document" as a default in app preferences. I like to have my history saved with my work so I can backtrack if I don't like something in the future, and often forget to click it before I save. Thanks!- 7 replies

Hi, I’m having two issues with the colour picker tool on my iPad Pro 12in while using an Apple Pencil. Firstly, the pencil is not selecting the colour I choose; ie, I select the tool, move and hover over a colour, release the pencil off the screen (mimicking the finger process) but it does not select the color, ie the swatch does not change to the colour I have chosen. The selection process works perfectly when I use my finger. Secondly, selecting the colour picker results in two magnifying selection dots that hover over the screen, rather than the expected single dot (see attached pic).

I don't remember this happening before the recent update, but it could be some setting I changed and forgot about, but antialiasing in pixel view has a green or blue tint when it is caused by a mask but the outline of a shape has correct antialiasing. it's in RGB color space, and I tried to see if 16 bit would change it but nope. the screenshot with a glow was previously created and this bug did not show then.

Hello, this design is the concept for a client about coffee from Indonesia. It's uploaded on my Behance web page. Thank you The hardest part is inability to make vector patterns. In theory I could just duplicate each line, but that would make thousands and AD as powerful as it is, can't handle it, so I had to convert everything into a bitmap image which is not what I wanted. Also, I needed to make vector based patterns on a stroke, but that's not possible (yet at least).

I have noticed strange behaviour, across 2.x, with certain selections: I select a certain number of objects inside a page (in an existing PDF file), by click dragging from outside the page edge, around the objects, but not around the whole page. After releasing the mouse button, the page outline is still selected and the cursor is changed to the artistic text tool. Whatever I touch next, will lead to a freeze of Designer, which I can only recover by force closing the program. I have tried to clarify the behaviour using the attached screenshot. Is this a known bug, as I couldn't find it on the forums? Designer freeze in text tool mode.pdf -

I hope this is new - did not find it in my search. Please calibrate the sides of the Stroke Width graph in the Stroke Studio in the same unit as the Stroke Width setting. I think it does not need to be ultra high-precision, just close enough to gauge the weight of the thinnest part of a stroke. Some media cannot hold very fine strokes. Regards Lionel -
Hi, I did this operation in Affinity Designer 1.10: 1. I linked a PNG file into a Designer document. 2. I exported the document as an SVG (for export) file. 3. When reopening the SVG file with Designer, the PNG placed file had become embedded. Unless this has changed in V2, can the linked objects be left linked, instead of embedded, when exported to SVG (or any other format)? Otherwise, editing would also require relinking any placed object. Paolo -
When I use the Brush tool with pen tablet Contoller on "Pressure" (which is most of the time) and I use Shift to to temporarily draw a straight line, the stroke goes up to the maximum width setting of the brush and looses all pressure capability. This means one cannot draw a series of variable parallel lines and one needs to go through a longer process of reducing the thereby obtained thick line or drawing the straight lines with the Pen tool. Curiously, I've seen a similar behaviour with the Vector strokes in Clip Studio Paint (and it's not ideal there either).

In Designer I use brushes with a Wacom tablet a lot. So I most usually want the Controller set to "pressure". But every time I start a new document or even open an old one in which i'd used brush strokes, the Controller is back on "None", which gives no pen stroke variation. Not a big issue, but wouldn't it be obvious to have Designer remember the user's last setting?

My favourite as a kid with its art deco looks and having the speed record of 126mph. Back then I didn't realise it was one of a quite a few class A4's. Designed by Nigel Gresley and built in 1938 by London & North Eastern Railway in Doncaster. I'll likely shrink it down a bit so there's more sky above the funnel but have left it like that for now so it's easier to work on and see the details. The outline's without the background otherwise it looks even more of a mess.

When using stage manager on iPad, I am running into important features in Affinity Designer being blocked by the triple dot menu that shows up at the top.

I'm frustrated with this line that surrounds my edits all the time in Designer V2 Can this be switched off? Also is there an easier way to see how a graphic will look, without resorting to creating a PDF or something just to view it? A further question, if I may. I'm designing this for an A4 size, but anything I can to make it easy to make an A5 version as well. I'm conscious I could select everything and shrink it to fit another A5 template, but I think one must consider the size of text, where it's being used. In this particular design, the large image on the left doesn't look great, but the finished product should be better. (I've not shared the full A4 size)

Hi, since few days (not sure) designer doesnt let me import photos saying "permission denied" and has some permission problems on mac (Ventura). I got work done switching thru publisher and photos but it's a really bad situation atm. Not even sure if it's a Designer problem or a mac problem. Anyone is experiencing something similar or could point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance -
Its been a while I was not posting on the Affinity forums, I am glad to have returned . Since the last 21th of April was the anniversary of the foundation of Rome, I decided to made a Tribute to the city through its ancient personification, Goddess Roma. I was Inspired by a very tiny thumbnail AI generated image, that caught me with with a fair and brave facial expression, I have hardly revorked facial traits in some hours with the powerful PixageFX Tool, and then I created by hand a vector design, good for both pixelart and full resolution works. for the vector drawing it took me about two days. Hope you all will like it.

I have tried myself, but it's not working like in the video. The pencil tool just... Draw a line instead of making the font curves or whatnot. Thank you, Cheers!
