  1. Just done this T-shirt / DVD cover design for Punk band DIRT BOX DISCO - all vector
  2. Sorry if one just past so this question is ignorant, just wondering if there will be able sales on Affinity Designer soon? I already have it for Windows and definitely do not regret it, but I would also like to buy it on mac so I can use it on my school laptop. I know $50 isn't that much to begin with, just wondering if there are any sales around the corner I should know about before I pay full price.
  3. It would be great to occasionally do some inpainting or blemish removal of an image I have in Designer. Yes I do know that I have a full set of tools in Photo, but sometimes I just need to make a slight correction and it doesn't warrant this round trip.
  4. Hi, does anyone have any tips or examples for creating 3D modeling in a gaming aspect?
  5. Inspired by the magnificent Joan Holloway character in Madmen, played by Christina Hendricks. Affinity Designer. I'm still getting to grips with some of the features. I started using the Vector Brush Tool (to make those silhouettes of the passers-by. I like the way it seems to auto-smooth the line, which is a feature I'd really like. Really well done to you people at Serif for making a full-on professional tool. I have no qualms about using this for client-work.
  6. In this tutorial I will show you how to create a neon sign with Affinity Designer 1.5.5. You can download the brick wall seamless repeating pattern from the tutorial, which was made with Affinity Photo, here and use it for free in your own projects: https://goo.gl/nYw8Lz You will find the tutorial here. Keep on drawin' Norbert
  7. In this tutorial I'm gonna show you how to create an Ivy vector textured image brush in Affinity Designer with support of Affinity Photo in image processing. Link to the tutorial on YouTube You can download the Ivy vector brush from the tutorial here. Keep on drawin' Norbert
  8. I know that Adobe Illustrator can work as an alternative to page layout software such as InDesign. Can AD also work as an alternative? Thank you
  9. I originally did this in Illustrator but it was missing something and needed more work so spent the last few days redoing it in AD although I did use the main underlying shapes, seemed pointless doing those again. It's a good improvement on the original. Being so long and thin it loses a lot of detail at low res even on the close up though.
  10. Select a path, click on "magnetise" and as long as "magnetise" is enabled, the set origin point (Transform Panel) will stick to the path. Example: You want to align a lot of elements in a perfect circle (or other shape). You create a shape, magnetise it. Then select the group of elements you want to align. Set their origin point where you want them to snap and drag them across the circle. They snap into place. Now distribute vertically and horizontally and they distribute while sliding along the shape's path. A "distribute on shape" would be great too, it poses a problem with complex shapes though. Maybe a "user do you know what you're doing?" warning would be sufficient there.
  11. Hey guys, because the comunity in the Facebook Group helped me a lot i decided to give you some resources i've created. This pack contains: - 3 custom ribbons - twitter, facebook and youtube title picture templates - 1 grass brush - 5 Smoke Brushes - an awesome color palette for flat ui design You can use it private and commercial, more informations and credits are as a pages and docx file in the pack. Sorry for my bad englisch im just a student from germany cheers and have a nice day Affinity Designer Pack.zip
  12. The file I was working on since two days just broke after saving it. It is not possible to open it any more - "The file type is not supported." It seems like the file size has shrunk down - but that's just a guess..
  13. I create t-shirts and prints in my spare time from doing web design. Here are a few samples of my work. My typical workflow would be: 1) Sketch my idea up or bring in photo elements into Affinity Photo to create a mock-up. 2) Refine the mock-up in Affinity Designer, since I will need to scale the design for different sizes. 3) If I need to create a halftone, unfortunately I do this in a different program, but I will bring it back into Photo to create the mask I need. If I need convert a bitmap to a vector, I just use an online converter at http://www.autotracer.org (no affiliation) and I'll bring an SVG into Designer. There are still a few things I wish the programs had, but all-in-all I love the programs. The fur on the Panda was done completely in Designer and I think that's awesome!
  14. I have just posted my design on JF-17 Thunder Fighter Aircraft that i had been working on for a while on Behance. Affinity Designer Community is a vibrant and exciting one and i just need your feedback and critique to get even better. Here is the link for that: https://www.behance.net/gallery/55591161/JF-17-Thunder
  15. First piece in my classic car series done in AD.
  16. Discovery You discover something that is very important to you. Sometimes it's like out of the blue, and you don't know much about it (Because you got used to something else, maybe). Later, you don't want to miss it anymore. Meine Inspiration zu dieser Arbeit war das Album Cover „Discovery“ von ELO. http://b-bertuleit.de/discovery/ I'm looking forward to feedbacks, thank you friends
  17. Just a quick note about creating a radial gradient from a reference image. It will probably be obvious to most but just in case it isn't then it might be handy. Drawing a circle then trying to add the radial gradient points in the right place and picking up the colours isn't the easiest thing to do. You either do it on top of the reference or to the side, neither way is easy. It's much easier to draw a rectangular strip from the top to the centre (or from the left, right or bottom if you prefer) and create a linear gradient from the reference image. This way you can easily see where the stops should be and pick up the colours. You can then save it as a style and apply it as a radial/oval gradient and do any minor adjustments as required. Here's a quick example with 37 stops which was easy to do this way even though it needs a tweak or two.
  18. Character I am designing for a game I am working on. It's not quite finished yet. But I figured I would share it. He's a bomber enemy hence the dirt from explosions and gun powder. The little guy grabs the bombs out of the bag and hands them to the big guy throw at the player. I'll probably adjust coloring/texture along with some other touch ups before animating him tomorrow.
  19. Hi there, guys! Just to post a painting of a dragon. Done mostly with raster brushes. The background is a shape with a gradient and on top some textures with blending. I made it on a rush trying to make it to the deadline for the 1.6 launch. Anyway, I wanted to share it with you exactly where it ended. Maybe later I'll do some more work to it. Best regards!
  20. Hello, I'm planning to switch from pc to mac - dropping everything related to design in windows. Is there a way to change my license from pc to mac?
  21. Dear Affinity Team, Here are some suggestions for improvements, based on the experience i have gained while using Affinity Designer. __________________________ (01)We should have the ability to "move" or "copy" a style from one style category to another,in the context menu. (02)The search feature should also allow usage of regular expressions such as: * etc. e.g: fire*flare* it should bring in a list like for example: fire_flare_01 fire_flare_02 fire_flare_03 (03)If we can get a summary of which attributes are saved withing a style, that could be quite useful, and all the elements impacted by it e.g: Layer, object properties, effects, adjustments etc. e.g: layer->alpha = 50% effect_applied->GaussianBlur effect_applied->GaussianBlur->Properties > Radius = 0.4 px > Preserve alpha = false > Scale with Object = true object_properties > stroke_color = red[#CC5555] > fill_color = white[#F8F8F8] (04)Generating Cascading Styles sheets from styles,so that they can be utilized in websites. (05)Live Preview of Styles when an object is selected and the cursor is hovered over a style. (06)Styles with longer names are cut out. We should at least have the ability that when we hover over a style,we can get the entire text of the style name as a tool tip. (07)A Zoom slider to "increase" or "decrease" the size of the style preview thumbnails, just as provided in the "Navigator" panel. (08)Ability to show or hide "style name text" in the "Styles" panel menu. Exporting Images as Outlines or wireframes: > We have the outline view mode that gives us wire frames of the underlying graphics in affinity designer. Can we get the ability to generate wire frame of the entire graphic as an image, with options for changing wire frame like: > wire line size[e.g: 0.54 px] > wire line style[e.g: dotted] > wire color[e.g: white] or is there a way to apply an effect to do the same thing Layers Panel: (01)Ability to search layers[just like the search mechanism in "Styles" panel] by: > (a)Name > (b)Type[e.g: vector layer, pixel layer, group, masked etc] > (c)Layer Effect[e.g: Gaussian Blur] > (d)Adjustments[e.g:Levels] > (e)Locked/Unlocked Layer > (f)Visible/Invisible Layer > (g)By Symbols[e.g: wheel] (02)Ability to convert "group" to a "layer" and vice versa. __________________________
  22. Here's a stylised portrait that I've finally finished after been sat on my HD for a couple of years. All vectors, no pixels. Liberal use of layer blends, fx, transparency, masks etc and a bit of tweaking to give the colours a more vintage feel. Initially a quick colouring/shading test and just made it up as I went along; it worked out well and taught me the principles I used in my recent baby portrait. It's not anyone in particular, just a random selection of Google image searches refenced for the various facial features as I drew them. After all these years, I'm finally free from Illustrator and it's tedious Gradient Mesh!
  23. Hi, Following the previous request, one thing missing in Affinity Designer and present in most competing products: a mobile App to view design live on the device. As I know you have the skills to make Apps, it would be helpful to create a viewer App on iOS which allows to see the design from Affinity Designer on iPhone and iPad (and Watch?) and tweak it live. Cheers
  24. A reworking of another old illustration image in AD. Turns out I did the whole thing in CMYK and had to convert to RGB for web display at the end. I tried converting the AD file to RGB and it looked horrible (the colours suddenly looked too bright and unsubtle), so I didn't save it. It worked better when I converted the finished JPEB in AP. Would that be the proper way to convert?
  25. I am sort of new to graphic design (about a year). This is an image I did when I first purchased AD. I really love this software. Keep up the great work guys!
