J a n got a reaction from mgallegos in Line without smoothing
The line is a bit smoothed even without a stabilizer.
Of course, I draw a pencil or a brush in Draw Persona.
It's great that stabilization works. Thank you for it. But right now I need a really bumpy, uneven line.
So far, I have two solutions.
1) large zoom (at least 400%) > draw a line > then the line is roughened.
2) use Inkscape.

It is interesting that Affinity abandoned the idea of listening own audience. A lot of huge companies loses a touch with real customers and there are few projects that took the lesson and started to listen and implement what professional users wants. It is free knowledge for affinity. I remember when Adobe overslept with SKETCH and they made a Adobe XD. They created a place where people could give them ideas and we could vote for new implementations. With their budget and all of that feedback, they quickly made something that is valid alternative for UX/UI designers.
Affinity, think about it. If you are short on money open a KICKSTARTER or whatever, I would be happy to support you for a next generation of affinity or a clear roadmap. If you would really support your programs I bet there would be more PROs who would throw a extra coin on your products. If not, personally I think you are already outdated and in my opinion you’re becoming a very good entrance level casual software. I still manage to use it professionally (and it is love/hate relationship), but I know that I have to avoid a lot of ways to design stuff just because I know it is impossible to make it in affinity. I wish it wouldn’t be a thing. I already bought more then one set of your programs for my team and I'm willing to buy more, but please... Listen, Implement, be honest and communicate plans, be more transparent - as every new inventive "startup" should be, to give people ownership and to create a trust and hope for a change.

You can press Tab or use View > Toggle User Interface, @J a n,but that's the best that exists right now, I think.

J a n reacted to Boldlinedesign in Real Vector Brushes
Speaking for myself, I need the ability to create in pure 100% vector without bitmaps or rasters. Yes I could use the brush tool and build up with strokes and add them together, but as you mentioned, it leaves a mess of useless nodes and sometimes using add and divide Boolean operations freezes my app, or parts of the design disappear. It's not a clean operation yet unfortunately. The blob tool also helps a vector program gain some artistic approach. With the pen tool, there's a mechanical and precise feel that is good, but still harder to be artistic and free flowing. Also, a blob tool can allow for a quick simple edit. It adds a more artistic dimension to affinity.

Yes very frustrating
Yes - been requesting since first release?!?!?!
I have to say as there years slide by I find myself turning less and less positive towards Affinity, as I think my first set of posts when this forum was first made available, was the need for a fair few things including true vector brushes and a blob brush along with my No1 missing "feature" Vector distortion / perspective warping, I say "feature" as I wouldn't class any of these as features, I see them as bog standard vector tools for any software that classes itself as a professional vector application - I have been trying to keep positive, especially when receiving any kind of moderator feedback and seeing that old list of goals for the future - I used to just try and be patient - thinking what are we gonna do if it takes two or three years for these basics to appear ---- FIVE YEARS LATER ----- and now it pisses me off that I have to use the ten year old (and considered obsolete) Illustrator CS5 to plug gaps - I just wish Vector styler was as easy to use as Designer as it has all the basics (including vector brushes, Vector distortion / perspective warping) along with lots of other "features" it looks like it's been in development for around two years and it's not even released yet

YES!
Not trying to hijack you thread but I also require 100% vector outout - and I suggest a pre-flight tool for vector output so you can get a proper warning about rasterization (or bitmap brushes) before exporting:
It is next to impossible to make pure vector output without hassle - unless one makes simple, simple designs.
I have seen customers question whether or not Designer is a vector design program at all. It is a relevant question. Having a few vector tools is not enough to qualify.
Designer has major usability issues - you are fooled into believing a vector brush is vector - and when it is not you can still select menu items like expand curve that are simply N/A for bitmap of course.

Not a good suggestion for paid software as people may find they can do what they need to with said software and just use that.

J a n got a reaction from AncientWire in Line without smoothing
Smoothing and stabilization is a great feature, but sometimes I need to draw a line from the hand, a bumpy line without smoothing. How do I set it up? For pencil and brush.
-
J a n got a reaction from AncientWire in Line without smoothing
If I turn off the stabilizer (great function), the line is still smoother. It is not completely smoothed, but it is not "out of hand". Even without the stabilizer it is a little smoothed. I need to turn off the stabilizer completely. Try it. The line always smoothes. With or without stabilizer.
Try Pixel Persona. Line is without a stabilizer. But I need a vector.
For example, a free Inkscape can do it.

I have both programs (Designer and Photo) for some time. Changes in the new versions are very small and incredibly slow. Both programs are very nice, but... Unfortunately, Illustrator and Photoshop are miles away, it's a different world. Publisher will certainly be interesting software. But I would greatly welcome the progress with Designer and Photo.
Sometimes I'm very frustrated at Affinity. I wonder how many of us have returned to Adobe.
I'm still working with Affinity. But how long?

J a n reacted to HuniSenpai in 'Replace Colour' - How? (Affinity Photo)
A little late, but for anyone who's wondering:
select -> Select Sampled Color Hit okay Press crl + u to open up HSL panel. Adjust colors as you wish. This is the closest alternative to "replace color" filter in Photoshop that I've found. The color replacement brush tool is cool and all, but in no way equal to "replace color." I'm not sure that Affinity photo has a replace color filter, sadly. These steps work though; only takes a couple of seconds more.

J a n got a reaction from Alfred in Is Designer for iPad compatible with Designer for Windows?
I found a good price for the iPad (2017), but as R C-R writes, I need iPad (2018) with Apple Pencil.
Thanks guys. I guess I'll try it

J a n reacted to R C-R in Is Designer for iPad compatible with Designer for Windows?
I have the 2018 (non-pro) 9.7" iPad & Affinity Designer for iPad works well with it. The screen is a bit cramped & the thicker, non-laminated display causes a small amount of parallax error, but nothing I can't live with, particularly considering the large price difference compared to the pro models.
For this model, currently the only non-pro one that supports the Apple Pencil, I very strongly recommend the Pencil as by far the best choice.

J a n reacted to Alfred in Is Designer for iPad compatible with Designer for Windows?
Any capacitive stylus should work at least as well as the capacitive styli that most of us have at the ends of our arms, but Apple Pencil clearly brings additional benefits for iPads which support it.

J a n reacted to Gabe in Is Designer for iPad compatible with Designer for Windows?
Hi @J a n,
Designer and Photo project files are fully compatible across platforms.
As for the Tablet/pencil, we cannot say if it's suitable for you or not but bear in mind that we only support the Apple Pencil. We cannot guarantee the functionality of any other 3rd party pencils.
Thanks,
Gabe.

Funny, in the past 10 minutes my Affinity Photo has twice crashed. It's not a pc bug, I have really a good computer.
Designer and Photo for iPad are great ideas. But Designer and Photo were offered as a replacement for Photoshop and Illustrator. Not like apps on tablets It was my fault that I believed it.
