cchris reacted to Old Bruce in Document's linked images display in low-res when first opened. Is there a global refresh button?
Thanks for the laugh.
Actually the applications will work fine sometimes with cloud and networked drives. It is the likelihood of disconnecting/sleeping that causes problems. And as the 'problems' (my term) could be complete loss of all information you are best served by not using networks or cloud services.

cchris got a reaction from Old Bruce in Document's linked images display in low-res when first opened. Is there a global refresh button?
Thanks for your reply. Maybe it's that the document I'm working on has a lot more images, but they don't refresh until I'm looking at them (Schroedinger's thumbnails). Sounds like AP is working normally but it could be designed better when it comes to displaying linked images. I'm going to add it to the suggestions topic.

Sounds like this:

It would be a feature similar to how Word and most other apps do it (see attached image).

cchris reacted to Tamauro in [AD] How warp / distort object without warp /distort tool
As much as I love AD the fact that is still not possible to distort an object is the reason why I can not use it for my job. I would strongly suggest to make this improvement a priority because I know that "distortion" is an operation that vector designers use a lot in their work.

+1 vote for a distort/perspective tool. I'm still learning AD and working on my second project with it. I was needing perspective and was surprised to find there is no tool.

3.5 years later and it is still not available. A vector distort tool is among the few most important tools that are BASIC for a pro vector app, why does the affinity Team still not get this, it is really not understandable. I still have to switch back to FreeHand for this - an app that went out of the market 15 YEARS AGO, but that was WAY AHEAD of Affinity designer.

I’m not a Mac user, but can’t you open up a new view in Separated Mode?

You're a marvel! Works like a charm, and of course it's the one combination I didn't try.

cchris reacted to rawalanche in Fill with Primary and Secondary Color does not work correctly
Unfortunately no degree of mental gymnastics will make this any more predictable to use. Regardless if it's a bug or poor design, the result is the same - very poor usability.

cchris reacted to Wosven in Fill with Primary and Secondary Color does not work correctly
And that's strange and can confuse, since the primary is supposed to be the first (visible, on top), and secondary is usually... behind. Using "foreground color" and "background color" would have been simpler that this... strange denomination.

cchris reacted to Ron P. in Fill with Primary and Secondary Color does not work correctly
What I understand about them, the Lower Color Well (circle) is always the Primary. The front and back configuration just sets which is active. In your screenshot, Black is the Primary color, Red is the Secondary AND it is set as being Active.

Assuming the document is setup as single pages (not facing pages), I would select the pages in the Print dialog and configure it this way. Note that I am on Windows, so your Print dialog will look different, but I've highlighted the settings I think are the most important ones:

cchris reacted to MEB in Why doesn't Publisher allow EPS images to be linked rather than embedded?
Hi cchris,
This is a known issue that's already logged to be looked at.
Thanks for reporting it.

I think it's an 'oversight'
It can be done in the beta though so should be in the next update

cchris reacted to walt.farrell in Resizing an image defaults to proportional sizing, but resizing two images at once is freeform
It is under your control, in Preferences, under Tools. If you don't like the default behavior you can change it:

cchris reacted to prophet in Resizing an image defaults to proportional sizing, but resizing two images at once is freeform
I take the OP to mean that when scaling a placed image using the corners, it scales proportionally, but when multiple images are selected, scaling by the corner results in non-proportional scaling. One has to use Shift while scaling multiples by the corners to kept the proportion. A solution would be to Group the multiple images. They then scale proportionally as a unit when using the corners.

What specific situation to you mean with resizing 2 images?
Could you please provide an example document?
what should be done of you have 2 images (or do you mean layers?) with different aspect ratio, e.g. 1:1 and 2:1? It might get complicated to decide which ratio to use.

cchris reacted to garrettm30 in Request to have doc title at top of MacOS window be clickable to show path
I agree with this. I am of the opinion that an app should respect the conventions of the OS when it is possible and reasonable. This is one feature of macOS that I occasionally try to use in Affinity apps only to find it does not work.
