StevenS reacted to walt.farrell in V2 SUITE
You are always free to upgrade only one or two of the applications.
But if you want to use any of the functions where the applications work together (Photo and Designer Persona in Publisher, or File > Edit in <other application>, or sharing brushes/assets/etc. between the apps) they will need to be at the same level. So, if you stop upgrading some of them, they won't be able to interoperate with the others after that.
Also, there is no backward compatibility of the file formats today. So, if you upgrade to version 2 now, and version 3 comes out in a few years, files saved by version 3 probably won't be usable in version 2. (They might be, but I wouldn't count on Serif deciding to implement that function.)

    Welcome to the forums @Aliksu
I think you might be getting Affiny and Affinity mixed up.
These forums are for the Affinity, design, photo and publication software.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.
The license allows you to install the applications on any computers you own or control, as long as no one but you uses them for commercial purposes.

StevenS reacted to walt.farrell in Purchased publisher 2 on iPad but won’t activate
Thanks. For that one, I think you may need to press Purchase. That helped me once.
There may be some other possibilities via the Account dialog if you Continue Trial.
But I would first suggest reading this FAQ. The first post in it has a link to an article specifically about purchasing/registering/activating the iPad apps. If that doesn't help, the second post in that FAQ has some alternative suggestions.

I have followed the steps and at last it appears all is working.
Apologies for the Frustration but it truly has taken hours.
I pressed the re-purchase link for publisher and now the license is showing in my history on your site before it was not there.
So hopefully I can put all this behind me and get back to using the Software which is all I wanted to do in the first place.
Thank you for sticking with this it actually is appreciated.

StevenS got a reaction from Patrick Connor in Universal License via Apple does not show in my Affinity account (split)
    Hi @Ewart100,
It sounds like there's been an activation attempt in one of the other apps. This has in turn been logged as an unsuccessful registration across all of the apps. We therefore just need to delete this record.
    1.   Go to ~/Library/Group Containers/6LVTQB9699.com.seriflabs/V2/ 2.   Delete the licence.dat and cs.dat files and the Receipts folder 3.   Relaunch the app you purchased the Universal Licence (in your case this is Affinity Publisher) 4.   Try clicking the Restore Purchase link at the bottom   You should see a 'Thank you for your purchase' screen. If you click "Existing Customer? Sign In" and follow the in-app prompts to sign into the Affinity ID you want to register your licence against.   Once that is complete it should appear against your account on this page. From this point you will be able to sign into every other app using the same Affinity ID.   If for whatever reason the Restore Purchase button doesn't work. Click on 'Buy' against the Apps V2 Universal Licence. Please ensure this is the same app and licence you purchased. It should detect that your Mac App Store account has already purchased this and tell you this and restore the purchase. If it is a different one you will get charged again from Apple. When you click the 'Buy' button for the one you've already purchased you should be told by Apple that you have already purchased this and do you wish to restore your purchases. Click 'Yes'. You should then see the 'Thank you for your purchase' screen as mentioned above. If so again follow the in-app prompts to sign into the Affinity ID you want to register your licence against. That should complete successfully and you should have the app listed in your Affinity account using the link above. From this point you will be able to sign into every other app using the same Affinity ID.

StevenS reacted to fde101 in Old V1 users being asked to pay EXACTLY the same for V2 new users? NOT COOL.
Then "everyone" was not paying attention, as Serif told us several times over the years that this would happen, and a handful of forum users who are not even Serif employees even expressed this over several years before the v2 release.
They are not unique in this either, as there is not really a "good" way to handle paid upgrades on the various app stores, and I have seen several apps require that major versions be purchased separately, without offering upgrade pricing.  At the price point of the Affinity suite (even the newer price point) and given the amount of time between major releases (if the v1-v2 gap is even close to indicative) this is hardly anything to complain about.

Another clarification from after the release of v2:

The Universal Licence includes licences for all our V2 apps on each platform (Mac, Windows, and iPad), and allows you to simultaneously install any of the three apps on as many Mac, Windows and iPad devices as you need for your own use as and when you need them.

Thank you for this - it is very clear and I hope that those who are complaining all read it in order to understand the rationale. I think the vast majority understand the difficulties and that Serif is still a remarkably small outfit. I look forward to the V1 to V2 upgrade 'thank you' bundle. 😀

StevenS reacted to jmwellborn in What is the best way to purchase the V2 Universal Licence?
@monzo  I would definitely suggest that you purchase the Universal App from the Affinity website.   My Photo2, Designer2, and Publisher2 are all performing without a hitch or a glitch.  They came from the Affinity website.  And if you do decide to purchase, be sure to keep your V1 on your Mac until you have installed V2.  That way you can choose the option to Migrate Content from V1.

StevenS reacted to walt.farrell in unable to use affinity designer after I bought it from Microsoft Store
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.
That really sounds like you downloaded from the Affinity Store, not the Microsoft Store. Only Affinity V1 downloads from Serif (Affinity Store) have or need Product Keys.
For downloading from the Microsoft Store, open the Store app on your Windows computer, and look in the Library (down on the lower-left side). You should find your previous purchases from the Microsoft Store listed there.

    Hi @Andy68
Transferring from V1 to V2 only works on the same computer. You now only have the option of exporting from the old Mac to an external storage medium and then adding it back to the new Mac. If you have purchased content from the Serif Affinity Store, it can be downloaded and installed via Help --> My Account.
To export, select the category you want to export and click on the 'hamburger'  icon.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.
It will probably be best for you to email affinityorders@serif.com and discuss this with them. They will need some information from you that should remain confidential (your full name, card number, date/time of purchase (approximate)) that cannot be shared here.
As everyone at Serif is very busy, though, it could be a few days before you hear back from a human.

StevenS reacted to walt.farrell in Purchasing History
Yes. You purchased a license for V1 and all incremental updates made to V1.
V2 is a new product, and requires a new purchase if you want to use it. As with V1, if you purchase V2 you will get free updates to it until such time as V3 is released. We do not know when that might be, but it should at least be several years away.
If you purchased V1 from Serif within the past 90 days you could contact affinity@serif.com to see if you have other options.

StevenS reacted to Komatös in Do I need all the devices before I get Affinity V2 Universal License £89.99
    Hi @Donna Warden
No, you don't need all platforms with the universal licence. And if you buy a MacOS-powered device, you can simply install and activate all three programmes there.
The individual licences for Photo, Designer and Publisher are bound to the platform for which they are purchased.
You do not need individual licences if you have a universal licence.
Contact affinityorders@serif.com and ask for a refund for the individual licences.

StevenS reacted to emmrecs01 in Do I need all the devices before I get Affinity V2 Universal License £89.99
    @Donna Warden
The refund for your iPad purchases will need to be made by Apple, since Serif have, and will never have, any record of your purchases specifically for that OS, I think.

Not sure if it includes the 14th but you would be wise to purchase a few days before anyway just in case you have any payment problems

Hi @masoud abbasi, welcome to the Affinity forum.
The demand for right-to-left language support is very enthusiastic from the people who do contact us, and we understand that there is a considerable number of users who would like it included.   It may be something we look to include in the future of Affinity apps, but we do not have any planned for the foreseeable future.

Hi Roto, welcome to the Affinity forum.
As many of our apps are bought through third party App Stores we do not have a mechanism to offer upgrade pricing to all of our users. This was why we decided to offer such a large launch discount—to give all users, new and existing, and irrespective of how they bought our V1 apps an opportunity to get V2 at an incredible price. V1 owners who do purchase during the launch period will receive bonus content at a later date.
Upgrading is completely optional and, if you wish, you can continue to use the V1 apps for as long as you like.
We will be updating V1 to fix any critical problems caused by operating system updates in the future. So if the next version of macOS breaks V1 we will endeavour to fix it. There will be a point in time when continuing to maintain V1 in this way will not be tenable, but certainly for the foreseeable future we will continue to patch. In fact, we have an update to V1 queued up for release very shortly with some fixes for Ventura and issues caused by a recent Windows security / quality update.
