It'd be interesting on making a poll or something about the equivalence between doors in a car and those File Formats, considering that I, and others, don't need them. I know you do, and I'll be happy when they are supported so you can take advantage of them.
    Best regards!

It’s entirely reasonable to expect that Affinity 2.x apps will be able to open files saved from Affinity 1.x, but I don’t think the 1.x apps will be able to open 2.x files without being updated to understand the new features.

Amidst the international controversy - questions in Parliament, frequent mentions on Fox News, and a delightful article in Quilting Weekly - regarding the precise timing of the up-coming release of a certain piece of software, the BBC has announced that they will - some day soon - be airing a special episode of their flagship science documentary series.
Expect glossy CGI, mildly sarcastic narration by David Mitchell, and something from either Jim Al-Khalili or Mark Miodownik (probably).
Dum... dim, dum, de da da dum,,,
P.S. This is just a silly bit of (attempted) humour. I'm happy to wait patiently.

I like the idea of getting a sketch to start off with. Very useful for people like me who have very few artistic skills. We can just colour it in if we want to. A nice way to start learning the tools.

    Hi there, guys!
I was watching this Brad Colbow's video, where he proposes AAC (Another Art Challenge). The things goes as follows:
He shares a sketch Others finish that specific sketch with their own style So, I decided to play along using Affinity Photo. I wanted to try that cartoonish style (as any challenge, the purpose is to improve, so it's a good opportunity).

Also, I recently opened my twitter account just for this challenge. Glad to see that the Affinity account liked it.
    Any feedback will be appreciated.
    Best regards!

But at least for some that have expressed themselves in unsavory manner are justifying the behavior because this isn't the first promise APub will be ready and have seen that promise evaporate. While I don't condone the expression of some posters, I do understand the point of the posts.

Yep, it's been delayed since the first announcement. Plans change and when they do what was once said/claimed may not hold true anymore. Serif should have learned their lesson at the first delay. Hopefully all those people hanging on for this beta release have still been able to get work done in the meantime in one of the several options available. If not...

Thanks for sharing this with us, Matt.
I know it's hard for you as well, because I'm sure you'd love to have Designer on the iPad as well as Publisher on Desktop out here in the wild right now. Keep up the good work, stay focus and be confident that some of us are really excited about the work you are doing.
I know some people get angry, frustrated and the only way out for them comes in the form of harsh words (having part of reason or not). Well, I recommend those people to try some angry management therapy or something. It's not good for their own health.
Also, for those who are as impatient as I am: keep showing the Dev Team the interest in their development, but without cursing their entire bloodline, please (it's no use). I know that Publisher was promised for 2016, but it's not like Serif said "we are going to troll these folks for some laughs".
    Best regards!

Between projects I sometimes have time to try something new. I am totally fascinated by anything science fiction. And I really love what the guys at Bungie are doing design-wise with their typography. So I set my goals: Make a artwork that is 100% vector art, scifi, and rocks a typography that you might find in destiny. I absolutely wanted to use Affinity Designer for this and continue to get better at Modo. As it is a really great vector software. The planet was created procedurally inside of Grand Designer and rendered there. The space station was modeled and rendered in Modo.
All textures and renders where then traced.  I had to fall back to AI for autotracing tracing though. But apart from that I didn't touch it ^^ The results were then copied to Affinity designer and combined into the design and worked on with a lot of gradients. The result is pure vector. I also attached a breakdown to be completely transparent about everything.
The whole project was finished in about 16 hours from idea to artwork.
If you would like to know more or have some questions/remarks, please let me hear it!
    Thanks!

There's no 'priority' issue here. I'm the Project Manager (and Lead Developer) of Affinity Designer, so I'm busy working on my next release (AD for iPad) whereas we have a whole team of developers working on Affinity Publisher and have had for a long time now. My post was really about apologising I've not been around as much as usual (because I'm very busy!) and about reassuring you that Publisher is still coming along nicely from what I can see... I'll move on to help out the team with Publisher imminently, sure, but it's not like there's been a pause while everyone waits for my help!  They're much better at Publisher-specific stuff than me anyway, so I just need to help out in the areas that I'm good at! As with any of our products, they won't be released until we're actually happy with them, because at the end of the day, nobody wants software that doesn't really 'work' properly!
It's difficult from my perspective to imagine what we could have done here to make customers feel less frustrated by the lack of progress?... Development of good software is often an iterative process - it's SO unlikely you'll just hit the sweet-spot on your first go at typing something and you'll need to start again with new knowledge and try something a little different - that process is notoriously terribly difficult to estimate how long it takes. In a world where it only matters if something actually works or not, then maybe your first go would've been good enough and maybe timescales are easier to guess, but we're looking for a great solution, not just any solution... So Publisher seems to be taking a while when viewed from the outside - but there's no 'problem' here, everything is going great and we're converging on something special - but rushing to reach a goal before it's truly ready would just be a terrible idea and would setup the product very badly for the future. I think the 'teaser' video for Publisher we released was partly to show that it really was happening, and partly because we're really excited to show it to you! The guys working on the product are doing their job, but it's also something they're passionate about, so they're proud of their work and want you to enjoy it. The alternative was for us to have never said anything about Publisher at all but then customers would just wonder what we were doing that was meaning we weren't updating Photo/Designer very often recently and then would get frustrated. Hang in there - it's on its way and it's going to be good!

Really sorry about the lack of updates - some of this is down to the fact that there's very little to update you on regarding Affinity Publisher (still looking good, still on track for Beta - to the best of my knowledge at this point) and some of this is down to the fact that Affinity Designer for iPad has been occupying 100% of my time recently as I get it ready for launch. That situation will change. Soon.
So hopefully you'll see more obvious progress over the coming months...

Anyway, as if Adobe, Autodesk  or the like would inform about every lil step they make in their everyday development...  " 8:00 AM, we are having coffee, not tea, because yesterday we...."  .... " Oh, and yes, we are are revamping all the legacy code which is limiting us since the 90s, to have every little operation to be multi threaded. Started today, should be ready in the afternoon. Or if not this very afternoon, then in 15 years. Be patient!  I know you will. You can't do any other freaking thing... because... there's no one else out there. Mwahaha. "
    // Dumb sarcasm.
I remember too many times in the past of those two of one full year of no updates, or only cosmetic updates -way smaller/unimportant than for example, the constant flow of updates here in the AD/AP beta forums- ....

But, as some people will already know - the last 10% takes 90% of the time.
